I loved Pennison’s Pub! the people and the staff were so friendly. It is a place I would love to make it my local watering hole. The only problem is they allow smoking and I can’t hang with that. But just wanted you to know it is a fun place, sad I can’t hang out.

It’s your basic neighborhood dive bar. No frills. Except the tamale guy if you get lucky! The 1st time I came here… Well, let’s just say that I don’t remember much. It was my birthday and I had already done some day drinkin, then my BFF and her bf took me to Pappasitos for tequila and apps and presents and tequila and. Food? And tequila. And. I digress. So, yeah. Anyway. So, I ended up at Pennison’s after That. And it probably wasn’t pretty. Oh good lord. Why am i telling you this Unilocal!ers? Because my reviews are honest and true! We had a couple of drinks. I was probably needed to go home but my BFF(of over 30+ years y’all!) was watching me and I was just dancing and having fun when the table of sleazy regular women(the ones mentioned in other bad reviews) decided to tattle on me. The bartender basically told them to eff off because it was my birthday and give me a break. High 5 Gordon. George? I dunno something with a G. But still. BFF ushered me out responsibly pretty much before we knew that was happening. Cut to last night. A friend wants to introduce me to her fave neighborhood dive. I say i think that the place sounds familiar. She says no way, they would have cut you off.’ *So don’t anyone else try to get away with the s*it i tried to pull! * We pull up and it is, indeed, Pennison’s. It’s a small inviting place. 1 pool table, a long bar a few tables(1 taken up by those old tattle-tale biddies that have seen better days, but Clearly have no where else to go) lots of big screens to watch games, even some to play triva on. That same sweet attentive bartender that stook up for me was there, taking care of everybody. Cheep but stiff drinks. I was very impressed that they were even serving St. Arnolds Bishops Barrel 11. Yo. That’s not what you find in a normal crappy neighborhood dive. And, yes, you can smoke in here. Which means a lot to those of us let that are still paying to have someone kill us slowly. The crowd was very friendly. Giving off that«Cheers vibe». The bathroom is nice, which is always a plus for the ladies. I hear they have karaōke a couple nights a week and I had fun playing triva trying to kick some of the regulars butts.(apparently I learned in college I have forgotten =(/sad trombone) But, I honestly had a good time. So. Ya. If you’re in the area. Looking for a cool dive, with cheap drinks where you can smoke, with nice bartenders and a chill crowd? You found it.

The owner should make his drunk wife stay at home. How embarrassing… There’s also a drunk lady dancing on the bar(literally) and making this place look cheap. I will never come back.

I have been coming here for a while now since it is close to home. Awesome hole in the wall in the Sugar Land area for those who wanna stay away from«downtown» Sugar Land. Happy hour from open to 7pm M-F If you get yourself a Pennisons Mug for 15 $(along with first pour on the house) you are entitled to domestic drafts for $ 2.50 and import drafts such as St. Arnolds Octoberfest and Guiness for $ 5.00 with the mug. They have different nights ranging from dart night, poker night, «water pong» night, and karaōke nights. The only problem is that smoking is still allowed inside and it does build up! Expect to leave reeking of cig smell. I love the crowd since everyone is about their own business and eventually you get to know the«regulars.» Pennison’s has awesome bartenders that are are attentive and make sure to keep drinks coming(responsibly of course.) If you ever find yourself around this area, stop on in and check out the pub, tell em BroBear sent ya!

Wow the whining is really funny to read. Its simple this is a local bar. People smoke, that includes cigars. They have fun karaōke twice a week and the dj has a good selection, interacts withe crowd and gets everyone in that wants to sing. Drinks are cheap and bartenders are generally friendly and please. If you are looking for a hip place with«ambiance» and all that keep yourself in houston or first colony and let us locals have our own place.

The three stars are for the friendly service and atmosphere. The prices are pretty cheap as well. I had wine. I would actually give this place 2 stars based on the fact that upon leaving, I reeked of smoke. Once I washed my hair and everything else, I had to chunk my purse. It was just full of the smoke smell.

Cheap drinks is the plus side of this place. Unless you’re going to be a regular, you better avoid this place.

As far as neighborhood dive bars go, this is as good as it gets in Sugar Land. cool staff, cheap drinks(There’s literally NOTHING over like 6.50, and they have 24 ounce mugs for sale that get you $ 2 fills forever), damn near 20 tv’s, dart boards, pool tables, and as close to a family of regulars as you’re ever gonna find. AND you can smoke inside!!! It’s right next to my house, so I’ve been having a nightcap or 4 there for a good 5 years now, religiously. they got poker during the week, tuesdays and wednesdays for sure, karaōke on thursday, saturday, and sunday. sundays they have 2.50 half-pitchers, which is money. Just don’t go there expecting to pick up a lady, as there is rarely more than 4 of them at any given time, which is the only thing keeping it from getting 5 stars.

Neighborhood corner bar with a no-nonsense attitude. I usually hit this spot when I don’t feel like dealing with the Baker Street loudness. It’s close to home and good enough. Two crummy pool tables, bad karaōke, but cool staff. Usually a sausage fest if that matters to you.

This is a great hole-in-the-wall to kill some time with friends. It used to be the only act in Sugar Land… period. There’s always a lively crowd. Bartenders/waitresses are friendly. They serve stiff drinks and tall shots. When it gets busy, service can be slow at times. It can get smokey in there, too. You’ll see all types of people — young and old.
