We came to this place for a quick dinner before heading to see a movie. We had let our server know we were in a bit of a rush and he made sure we left on time! I ordered the Bijan special which was very tasty! The meat was cooked perfectly and had a lot of flavor. It was served with their special cranberry rice which is to die for. The meal also came with a large piece of naan and a feta mint salad which I loved. I wish they served some sort of yogurt based sauce with the meal, but other than that — no complaints. We also ordered their hummus as an appetizer and it was delicious. There is a ton of space to dine in and they even have large tables for big groups.

Bijan consistently has the worst service of any restaurant in the area. The manager is oblivious and the staff are lousy. But let’s talk food: Kabobs in general don’t take much to taste great. Meat, with the right PINCH of seasonings, and grilled over a fire. That’s it. It’s inherently good. But what these guys do is LOAD the meat with overbearing onion and garlic powder. Why? To mask poor quality meat that’s probably been in the freezer too long. It’ll taste ok while you’re eating it, then you will be burping onion and garlic the rest of the day and night. It’s not pleasant to say the least! Go to Fadi’s just a little further south on HWY6. Granted, its Mediterranean and not Persian like Bijan, but their kabobs are quality meat on a fire that tastes naturally good and you won’t be burping garlic and onion all night long. Update: it’s cold out and I didn’t want to drive all the way out to the Bijan on Hillcroft so I thought I’d give these guys one more chance. We ordered take out and brought the food home and it all smelled like natural gas! We took it back and then the guy confessed that they had burned a wire. He replaced our order and it still smelled like natural gas and tasted like burned plastic. What an utterly ridiculous restaurant!

Great food. Koubideh was solid. Cranberry rice was good. Service was friendly and very helpful. I’ve been to this now and the location on hillcroft. This one seems to have better food and much better ambiance. Highly recommended.

This place is fantastic! It’s a little pricey but the portions are generous. The meats are well-seasoned and they always give you a lot of rice. The sour cherry, cranberry, almond, and pistachio rice is delicious as well as their hummus and bread. The bread is softy and chewy around the edges but thinner towards the center so it’s baked crisp; very simple but so addictive. Often, I order their bread, hummus, and tabouli(parsley-centric) for lunch and I’m set :)

I’ve received nothing but great service here. I love their complementary hot tea with sugar cubes. Their hummus is heavenly.

I’m unsure who the young gentleman is that works at the cashier at night(or maybe in the back). Last Friday, I came in for a late take-home dinner, and he was so kind to me and my sister. He was extremely friendly and the food was wonderful! Whoever the young man is that works there at night; he deserves a raise or a promotion. The personnel here are delightful. The employees are a huge part of what makes a restaurant truly a wonderful experience! Will definitely be going here again!

Good tasty food. The meat is tender. The rice is good. The only complaint is that the waiter/waitress need to check more often if anything else needed, water etc. Prices are reasonable. The bread they make in house is awesome.

This restaurant got one star due to the extreme carelessness and neglect for the safety of their customers. My boyfriend has a deadly nut allergy. For those of you who have this type of allergy or know someone who does, then you understand that this is NOJOKE. We have been to Bijan before and enjoyed the food. Yesterday, since they had wifi, we decided to hang around a bit longer after the meal and do some stuff online. We ordered tea and the server offered us baklava or saffron ice cream. My boyfriend and I, both being Middle Eastern, know that Baklava is often made with walnuts, one of the nuts that can kill him. However, some Baklava is made with only pistachios, which are fine for him. We asked her what kind of nuts are in the baklava. She started to respond, but realized she wasn’t sure so she told us she would go check and come back and let us know. So far so good, she is taking the time to actually find out, rather than just guess. So we are thinking she is going to ask the person who makes it, right? Well i don’t know what she did because she came back and said ‘just pistachios, no other nuts… just pistachios”. The baklava comes, I inspect it, looking at the filling, trying to discern what nuts are inside. it’s hard to tell, they are finley ground and mixed with syrup. I eat my piece. My boyfriend, as always, is cautious. He takes the most miniscule crumb on one spoke of his fork and tastes and… and waits. He waits 5 minutes and seems ok. He then cuts off a huge bit and hesitates. He opts for a little bite of the filling instead, eats it, and waits… Within 5 minutes, his MOUTH is on FIRE, his CHEST is tightening up, begins heating up with a fever, and he develops a RASH on his face. His eyes start to water, and he begins coughing. Now, before I even go on, imagine, we had just trusted the server, and he had devoured that Baklava. He would be in the hospital or worse. And had he been a small child, he certainly could have died. So our server at this point is no where to be found. We call over another server who sees my boyfriend having a reaction. He goes into some drawn out explanation that the other server only works there part time, and that he’s really sorry, and he’ll take it off the bill. WOW, THANKS! you are going to take a 3 dollar dessert off our bill as pennace for almost killing a customer. Obviously they didn’t get it. The server was genuinely trying to be nice, but I suspect that had the owner heard about this, he would have doubled over — his server’s neglect and carelessness could have cost a customer their life. My boyfriend tried to explain this. I even shared a story(in the most sympathetic way possible) about a child I met when I was a teacher — this child had a nut allergy, and as a result ALL the other kids had to stop bringing nuts to school — if that child reached over and ate a nut from another kid’s lunch, he would have been done for. I was trying to explain that even I didn’t understand the gravity of a nut allergy. I explained«just so you guys, as a restaurant understand, when someone asks what the ingredients are, you have to be 100% certain!» So we paid our tab, rushed home, he took benadyrl and used his inhaler. He drank a bunch of water, and his fever went down. That was a close call. He is ok, but we will never be going to Bijan again.

Spacious clean environment, though it was nearly empty on a Saturday during lunch time. The staff is sweet and accommodating. I could see that the restaurant provides hookah, which is a good cultural complement for the food. One thing I should mention, for anyone who is interested, is that the bread they have here did not give my gluten intolerant boss any symptoms. When we asked what they used to make it, they just said that they use regular flour. Not sure what it really was, but my boss is usually very sensitive to gluten but we nearly polished off two big pieces of bread and she was fine. I wouldn’t say that I’d recommend this to all gluten intolerant friends, but it might be something to keep in mind if you have a strong craving for bread one day. We started off with the cold appetizer in which we picked the babaghanoush, hummus, and shirazi(?). I’m not sure if the last one was actually called shirazi but it reminded me of tzatsiki sauce made with cold yogurt, cucumbers, and dill. The hummus has got to be one of the creamiest hummus I’ve ever had. I loved how light it was, making it perfect for an appetizer that didn’t fill you up too much. The babaghanoush was very tasty as well, but it was a little on the warm side, considering it was part of a cold appetizer trio. I ordered the Chicken Koubideh for my lunch. The chicken koubideh was delectable in flavor and very tender. The grilled tomato and seasoned onions were also great sides to go with the rice. The dish awkwardly came with a little take-out butter. There was a picture of butter on the menu with the dish but there is no explanation what to do with it. Not to mention, it was packaged and the packaging was touching the food. There were some really delicious aspects of the food, but it wasn’t anything too special. Sugar Land is about a 20 minute drive for me(without traffic) and my rating is based on the fact that I probably would not intentionally make the drive out there just to eat at this restaurant.

My colleague and I went for lunch. When we sat down, we immediately received 2 plates of mint leaves and feta cheese with some warm bread. It was delicious and refreshing. I had the Bijan special with beef and chicken on a bed of rice with dried fruit and nuts. My colleague had the lamb and quail combo. Both were good dishes but the lamb and quail was a bit more flavorful than the kebobs. The food ordering and food to table was a bit on the slow side but we will still be back to try more dishes.

So I had to bump a star down after my second visit. Closest place to my house, while being able to avoid traffic. The first time I came they didn’t charge for naan or the mint/cheese/beet dish… I mean you bring it out so it should be free right ??? Not the second time Service is spotty some days will be good, but others its like bleh. Even when its not busy could I at least get a refill? Besides that issue, the food is tasty and fairly = in $ compared to its competitors. Generous in portions and I also get the Mix platter. But honestly their chicken is better than their beef. Oh and get the cranberry rice, Its the best. of the types(my opinion)

I called an hour ahead on a weekday lunch for a table for 12. I expected just a few tables put together. What I got was linens and settings for 12 people and great service. The food came out quickly for a group of our size and they split checks accurately. I was very pleased with the quality of the food and the great service. The friends I invited were likewise very impressed by the place. This will continue to be a gathering place for office lunches. Thanks Bijan.

Excellent meal, copious food, very good value. Strip mall vibe can’t be overcome, yet they get credit for a new, tasteful, and clean restaurant. Immediately greeted with crispy flatbread and herbs. That could suffice as lunch! Lentil soup was delicately seasoned and a pleasurable first course. Entrée was excellent portion of lamb shank braised in tomato, eggplant, and sour grape, served with a heaping platter of dill-infused rice. Priced at $ 11.99. Remarkable. Friendly, intuitive service. Hope I can return.

My family and I love Bijan Persian Grill. We have gone to the Hillcroft location for several years and the food is always wonderful. We recently moved to Sugar Land and were so pleased to see a location near us. We have eaten there twice in the past two weeks. The food is superb and the service has been excellent. Several of the wait staff from the Hillcroft location also work the Sugar Land location and they have recognized us and treated us so well. We always order the Beef Koobideh and we also enjoy the chicken with bones(cannot remember the exact name). The bread is fantastic and we also love the hummus. We love Bijan and will continue to frequent this location.

First time at Bijan, and I haven’t been to the other location either. It reminds me of Darband’s on Hillcroft except more up-to-date. I ordered 29A chicken chenjeh, and I thought the chicken was cooked perfectly– nice and juicy. The bread they also serve was warm and soft– my friend ended up finishing most of it! I didn’t think the service was as horrible as the other reviews thought. They could have been more attentive, but they weren’t rude or seemed moody or anything. I do wish they served tea at the end of the meal like Darband’s does. Maybe I just missed it? Or its self serve? Not sure. It would also be nice if they had some type of lunch special!

First time at this location but I have visited the Hillcroft location a couple of times. I went to Bijan for lunch with a coworker and we were promptly greeted and seated. After reviewing the menu I chose the beef tenderloin kebab and my coworker had the lamb kebab and ground beef kebab. Along with that we had a hummus which was probably the best hummus I’ve ever had. The entrée was pretty good as well. Now for the GREAT part! Hold on to your seats folks cuz it’s bout to get nasty! I spent the rest of my weekend puking my guts up, shitting my brains out and shivering under two blankets with FOODPOISONING!!! My coworker and I were discussing out weekends on Monday and he experienced the same symptoms… Go figure!

This is in the same location as Baklava Café a restaurant we enjoyed. We saw the lit up «open» sign, so we walked in. The interior looks the same as before, but Bijan is a sit down restaurant with wait staff. We were greeted by our soon to be waiter and was told they weren’t open yet. However, he said we could sit down and wait. We watched the wait staff standing in a corner of the restaurant looking bored. As Sara stated in her posting below, all the employees looked moody and unhappy. My wife and i looked over the menu. Most of the dishes were plates. There were no sandwiches or wraps of any kind. My guess is they don’t want to appeal to the non-Persion desires. There were no lunch specials. All the plates were in the $ 10 – 15 range. Our less than enthusiastic waiter came over to take our order. We started off with an order of Dolma(4/$ 5). The Dolma were very small and the grape leaves were a little bit too chewy. I ordered the Bijan Speical($ 14). My wife ordered the Mix Koobideh($ 10). Food came out fairly quick which didn’t surprise us since we were the only ones there eating lunch. My Bijan Special was pretty good, but for $ 14 I didn’t think it was worth the price. It came with one small skewer of chicken and beef chenjeh along with a rice combo of cranberries and nuts. There were three very small chunks(one inch cubes) each of beef and chicken. The beef was very tender, but had no taste. The chicken was very good. I did enjoy the rice. I just think it costs too much for what you get. My wife’s Mix Koobideh wasn’t anything great. The previous establishment had a lot better koobideh. Her plate consisted of one beef and one chicken koobideh. The beef was ok, but nothing to jump up and down over. The chicken koobideh tasted like it had a lot of filler in it. The service was terrible. After our waiter gave us our food, he never came back to check on us and we were the only diners. A waitress did come over to fill our water glasses. The owner/manager(?) never came to our table to see how we we’re doing. We actually felt like they didn’t want us there. Perhaps they were expecting and wanting a different ethnic group to eat at their establishment. Seriously! Not a single person in this restaurant made us feel welcomed. For this reason, along with poor service, over priced food, and no lunch menu, we won’t return.

Terrible Customer Service! All of the waiters seemed to be upset, downtrodden and moody. They didnt seem as if they wanted to be at the restaurant. None of them checked up on me and my sister or asked us if we needed anything. I had to ask the bus-boy for the ‘to-go’ containers, as well as my check. He kindly brought me these things, and I thanked him. As for the waiters? They seemed to be in their own bubble. I even told them that I was a bit upset, but they didnt care! The manager just looked at me blankly and walked away. Customer service matters to me, so I definitely wont be coming back here again. They’ve just lost several customers through me. The end.
