The hotel was the most affordable place we could find that was within reason close to downtown Manhattan. It is close to restaurants, fuel stations and access to manhattan. Relatively safe. Busy. The rooms did need some attention. We didnt get much breakfast experience. The rooms are small but the sheets and towels are clean. The room smelled like it had a smoker before. But a little airing made it toletable. All in all. Its a cheap hotel to sleep at and should be considered if on a budget and dont mind a 40 min drive to manhattan.

Horrible, very rude Indian man at front desk in the mornings. I will NEVERRETURNTHERE and will tell all my friends to avoid this hotel. Rooms are decent for $ 100 a night. But my experience with the front desk clerk ruined my stay here. He is a man who must hate his job and takes his frustration and anger out on paying guests.

It’s like they are trying to be nice, but still have lots of work to do. They have re done many aspects of the hotel(the main lobby), however the shower and beds really are unpleasant. Not to mention the stale smell in the building. There was a nice sign that said if you forgot anything, they’d provide it complimentary… But my finance had to stand on his knees to shower, he’s 6’2″.

While the cost of this hotel was great for our trip and location, the experience/service/quality was nowhere near the quality I expect from a Howard Johnson hotel. When we first arrived and checked in we were given room keys for our room on the second floor, hotel has only one small elevator so had to wait, once in the elevator it had a pungent odor. We exit on the second floor open the door to ‘our’ room to see people in there, their things thru out the room and them in various states of dress relaxing. Have to go back down to front desk and complain. Person there was baffled and confused by this, no apologizes or anything. We now request a first floor room as don’t want to go back upstairs. He doesn’t issue us keys rather walks us to a room and let’s us in now giving us one key. The room was musty, open the window for fresh air only it doesn’t have a screen. The furniture was beat up and old… I’ll grant you the TV, microwave, and fridge were good. The vending machine prices were astronomical! The complementary breakfast was the sparsest I have every had(deviled eggs, egg patty, sausage patty, bagel, donuts)(not good if you have any dietary constraints) so overall not a great experience.

I have to be honest, I was a little scared to stay at this hotel after reading the reviews after I had already booked. Surprisingly when I checked in, I was greeted nicely and checked in quickly and they didn’t even ask for a card to be put down for check in. We stayed on the first floor and the room was spacious, and very clean. No complaints throughout the night. Breakfast room is small, but decent selection of food. However the woman who keeps the breakfast area stocked would not stop staring at me as I made a waffle and seemed to be watching every move I made which was off putting and down right weird. The staff was great and overall no real complaints.

Hotel options are limited in the area, and this is the cheaper of the two. Even then, for the quality and condition of the hotel, still seemed overpriced compared to other 2-star joints. Unfortunately I received a non-smoking room on a smoking floor, meaning it might as well have been a smoking room. The non-smoking floor below did not smell, however, so make sure you request it if available. The hotel is definitely dated, and the beds are hard and not the most comfortable, but everything seemed reasonably clean. A/C worked fine, though took awhile to kick in. Free breakfast was mainly toast/bagels/pastries, but I do think there was a waffle iron hidden somewhere. Pros? Staff was friendly, wi-fi was free and the signal strong.

Great location to Tuxedo Ski Ridge. Did a Spartan race here, super convenient. 20 min from the ridge. Large clean room, free wifi. Free breakfast was a plus, super friendly staff and allowed a late checkout. Only complaint was they obviously don’t change the comforter because it smelled of B.O. but not a problem, just don’t use it or request a new one upon arrival. But for the price you really cant beat it. stayed at another hotel on the same road the year before which was beautiful but double the price!
