I grew up in Flanders and this is my go-to spot when I need to pick up some fancy pastries or something with a little«zing» to impress people. While I can’t attest to some of the negative reviews about the rude staff or the long waits for the deli sandwiches, I can tell you that their prepared foods are delicious and perfect to bring to a party or event. I also like their shellfish selection, most specifically their shrimp, as well as the decadent pastry selection, including cake pops and single cakes of carrot cake and cheesecake brownies to name a few. Catering is also offered here, though I have never tried it. They have a handful of wines to choose from, which is good in a pinch, though they are more expensive than some of your local liquor stores, which is to be expected. You can also find some interesting craft beers and spirits. They also carry small gift items like bottle openers, fancy spreads, gift baskets, chocolates and even little stuffed animals to add to your purchase. This is a wonderful gourmet market in the area; I just wish it was closer because I’d be here all the time!

The best butcher meats around. You gotta try the Vadalia Queen and Jalapeño Cheddar burgers. They are to die for. Deli sandwiches are awesome as are the fresh salads. Great place to have cater your party or holiday meals. A bit pricey but worth it.

I love this place! The deli makes amazing sandwiches and the prices are reasonable. My first time being here was about a month ago and I visit at least once a week to get lunch. The staff wears gloves when making your food which is a huge plus. Regardless of what the other reviews say, the staff IS friendly and will go out of their way to make sure you find everything you need. I hope that everyone will avoid the negative views and try this place out, you won’t regret it.

I waited about 10 minutes at the deli counter for a sandwich. There was no one in front of me and the 3 people being the counter were taking about the dead mouse about 2 feet away from me that I didn’t notice. The conversation about who would retrieve it was entertaining but needless to say I left hungry. Poor customer service and dead rodents… no thank you!

I have eaten here many many times over the years. And this place stays very consistent… The food is decent, the prices are higher than most, and the service is TERRIBLE. To get a sandwich takes 15 minutes, and thats if the place has NOONEELSE trying to get food. Seriously, the people making sandwiches work slow as hell. I just dont get how hard it is to make a sandwich… turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon. 5 things to put on a roll. Never do the people working do anything quickly. Yesterday i got 2 subs, 1 soda, 1 bag chips, 2 small side salads, 1 dog bone…$ 45 My wife would rather starve than go here… This place should step up its game! Oh yeah… and let ur customers use the bathroom. Isnt it a law that they need one!!!

I can not recommend this market. The staff is incredibly rude every time I’ve been there. It is not any one employee. It is all of them. They display the food in a way to make it look gourmet and fresh but it is not. Generic ingredients wrapped up nicely and previously frozen. The prices are beyond ridiculous. I wish there was a competitive type market close by.

I really wanted to like this place. I live in Brooklyn and come out here on the weekends to see my girlfriend. I haven’t been able to find a decent market or deil in the area so I had my fingers crossed that this place would do the trick. They advertise Boar’s Head all over the store, but when I got to the deli counter they had minimal options from Boar’s Head, and worse yet they had Hormel prosciutto in the deli case. If you’re trying to be a gourmet market you probably shouldn’t be carrying Hormel garbage.

Horrible. Customer Service(ie. the various kids behind the counters) are improperly trained. Food is mediocre at best, presented in a fancy way. The biggest thing that stands out is they make it abundantly clear that there are NORESTROOMS available to customers. Ummm, I think that’s ILLEGAL. Then again, not surprised.

This place is wonderful. Fresh, gourmet… you get what you pay for. It’s not«expensive» if you compare the quality. Salad and hot food bars are excellent. Packaged food for reheating is also very convenient and great for a quick meal when there’s no time to cook. The seafood dept is also fresh and that staff is so helpful. Homemade sauces and soups — great. The deli department, as fresh and wonderful as the food is, could use some work — hence my 4 stars and not 5. The definitely are not experienced enough to handle a lunch rush of customers. An order of 2 sandwiches took about 10 minutes — way to long. The deli staff consisted of some very unfriendly women. «Can I help you?» was pretty much all they said… kinda just stared at us while we ordered… turned around and started making the sandwiches… handed them to us(10 minutes later)…and that was that. No thanks for coming, no will there be anything else, nothing. Kind of cold and rude. All in all love the food and most staff.

Cramped and the employees are apparently unaware of hygiene standards while handling food. They have a little of everything but nothing really stood out. The selection isn’t bad but the push if for booze. The seafood department smells a bit more of fish that I prefer but I went on a Sunday afternoon so I guess everything was a bit old. My main issue is that I was standing on line waiting for a sandwich when a deli girl stopped, sneezed into her glove, wiped it on her pants and went on slicing. Guess she didn’t see me where I stood but I didn’t want to eat there anymore. I know if happens and there are worse thing but it just was they cherry on top the disappointment pile for me.

Killing the planet, one sandwich at a time. Not only do they take forever and a day to prepare your sandwich while you wait(sometimes using a microwave… yuck) but they use Styrofoam, paper and lots of plastic to wrap it all up. The staff isn’t very friendly at all. They have very limited organic offerings for what is supposed to be a «market». Some of their prices are just off the charts stupid, but no real reason for it. Not local, not fair trade and not organic. I stop in maybe twice a year because of convenience and just wanting something different. Unfortunately, I regret it each time and hate giving them my money. They need to get a clue and give a sh*t about their customers. They need to lose the attitude and price things more accurately, not just making numbers up to increase their bottom line. One last thing. no public bathroom. If you have sit down service, you need to provide a public restroom by law. Somehow they think they are above the law. Keep looking for a spot that cares more about it’s customers.

Basing this review on just the deli. This gourmet market has a ton of delicacies and high end product so I thought ordering sandwiches would be a no brainer, Wrong I was. Came in on a Sunday around 1130 am. No number system, no line, just 4 or 5 standing around wondering who goes first? We ordered a total of 4 subs 2 Veg Sins, 1 Nashville, &1 Grilled Chicken. They had just one person making all 4 so our wait time was ridiculously long. As we were waiting we were asked repeatedly by 2 other employees whether they could help us. That’s right, each person asked me twice each. Why couldn’t they help make our sandwiches and get us out faster? At one point when we were waiting for our last sandwich, I felt compelled to ask how much longer? Finally, I left my spouse waiting for the last one while I went to pay for the others so my kids could eat sometime in this lifetime. There is a nice patio outside with tables and a couple of shaded tables off the parking lot. Now lets talk about the food itself. The veg subs had mozzarella on them which I assumed was fresh mozz, Wrong! It was cold Polly O, the kind only used for melting on pizza, lasagna, ziti, etc. It was DISGUSTING used this way on a cold sub. WTF? I peeled all of it off and threw away. Big fat double F minus for that one. The only good part was the grilled eggplant. Big meaty marinated slices were a nice sub for meat. Roasted peppers were overwhelming and the bread was so so. Next lets talk about about the way they wrap their sandwiches. We were not returning home for awhile. I had the presence of mind to have a cooler in the car so prepared was I if I had leftover food. They put the sandwich on one of those styrofoam trays along with a bag of chips and a napkin which BTW was unusable due to it being saturated in vinegar from the sandwich. Who puts the napkins underneath an O&V sub? This place, that’s who. They wrap the tray in clear plastic wrap. Plastic gets saturated with condiment and has to be torn to open so forget reusing. I NEVER finish a whole sandwich and always take the rest home but without being able to rewrap in butcher paper, this ridiculous method of sandwich wrapping is rather useless. Why don’t they use butcher paper like everyone else? Maybe this is the way they do things in the sticks, I don’t know? I’m not from around here so maybe that is it. Anyway as my spouse asked if I wanted to purchase anything for dinner on the way home all I could think was no thanks(loss of extra business = Not Good Business). Get your act together in the deli and maybe I’ll think about it.

I am not a fan of sandwich’s, but I looooove their«redhead» sandwich. It has chicken salad(the best chicken salad I have found in the area) lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese slices, chipotle mayo and bacon(I get mine without bacon). It is so delicious and it is usually so big I can only finish half and end up eating the other for dinner. I have also heard their ‘sloppy joe’ sandwich is excellent, however I have never had it. I highly recommend stopping by here to pick up a sandwich!

I agree that they have great meats, which are extremely expensive, but the nasty attitude of one of the butchers is so annoying that we can no longer bring ourselves to go into the store. The owner should wise up and get nice help because he is losing alot of business because of it.

This place is as gourmet as it gets and your wallet will surely feel the pinch. However, the meat department is FANTASTIC and worth every penny, IMO. They introduced me to the Filet Mignon Roast(a whole filet tied up for evenness and seasoned)… A-MA-ZING!!! It was, hands-down, the best cut of meat I have ever had in my life and I eat a LOT of cow. The guys in the meat department are super-friendly and helpful. They also do various types of glazed nuts right in the store, which are super yummy as well. They even have a small fresh produce section and a tasty bakery, along with a prepared food case for those of you who would rather leave the prep work to the pros. Please keep in mind though, that groumet food like this does not come cheap… You get what you pay for and, as long as you can afford it, you’re going to be eating good for quite a while after making a trip to the Market Place. Be it for a filet mignon roast or a gallon of milk, this specialty market has GREATFOOD.

Great local Market. Better Meats and Seafood than Wegmans or Kings. Great Deli, too.
