Excellent! The food is fresh, delicious and beautiful. You don’t have to be a vegan or vegetarian to enjoy this little gem on Cahuenga. I recommend the Brussel sprouts, corn cakes, mac & cheese, squash with brown butter and focaccia with gravy. Don’t leave without having the blonde with peanut butter ice cream(dairy free of course). BYOB… your welcome.

I tried Vegetable during restaurant week and now I wish I lived in Toluca Lake again because I’m so in love with this place. It’s a cute vegan restaurant right on ventura(the only downside is the lack of parking). The theme is definitely vegan/vegetarian comfort food and I will just say I was so comfortable after eating there! Must tries: Foccacia with mushroom gravy Corn cakes over a bed of kale Tomato basil soup Mushroom soup And vegan Blondie with their peanut butter ice cream It seems pretty new, with a lot of potential. I hope they get alcohol eventually because then I’d totally make the trek up the 101 to Vegetable on the regular!

This place was FABULOUS. The dishes are driven by veggies, but certainly not held back! And their desserts… Oh my goodness, were their desserts AMAZING. You must eat the bread pudding; you will thank yourself for it! After coming off a horrible DineLA experience at MEET in Paris(Please, never go there!), I was really hesitant to go to another DineLA restaurant that I’d never been to before. My friend was here from Seattle, and it was her last night in LA; I didn’t want to send her off with a mediocre experience. Favorites: The bread pudding THEWINTERSQUASH!!!: seriously, probably one of my favorite dishes I’ve had in LA. The only thing that was alright but not as good as everything else was the spiced cauliflower. Tasty, but not quite the caliber of everything else. Portions were great, service was great… Thanks again! :D

Sort of a mixed bag here. Really enjoyed a couple of the dishes we had(we came for the DineLA Restaurant Week Lunch Menu), especially the Mushroom Ragu with Foccacia. The Hearts of Palm Ceviche was light and refreshing. The Potatoes with Cashew Cheese sauce was quite tasty, and their Minestrone and Tomato Basil soups were delicious and hearty. I do wished they served the soup in a bowl without a flat bottom so that it’s easier to spoon up as much as possible. I could have enjoyed the Corn Cakes large dish more had they plated it differently. They wanted to keep the cakes nice and crispy, so they served it in a dish where the chickpea and sweet onion stew would be in the bowl and the cakes criss-crossed on top with the aioli on the cakes. Well, that made it hard to mixed everything together for a delicious bite. It probably would have been better if the cakes were served on a flat plate with the cakes on one side and the stew in a bowl placed on the other side of the plate because the chickpea stew, kale and pico de gallo were separated in the bowl, so it was hard to get a bite of each compoent unless you remove the cakes from the bowl. Also, since the cakes were criss-crossed on top before the aioli was put on top of them, the cake on the bottom that was covered by the cake on top ended up not having the aioli over ½ of it. Roasted Winter Squash was the seasonal vegetable, a combination of pumpkin, butternut, and acorn squash. We did not taste any of the nutmeg, and there wasn’t much brown butter sauce to enhance the flavors of the squashes. Though my friend who ordered the Duo Grilled Cheese enjoyed the savory grilled cheese sandwich, she found the other with the sweet onion marmalade made the sandwich a bit too sweet for her taste. The Grilled Spiced Cauliflower I had was bland. Could have been seasoned a bit more, especially with a dash of salt, to boost the flavors, but it turned out to be on the bland side. Service was very good here, though. 3 ½ stars, rounding it up to 4.

The Meateater BF and I went to Vegetable on the first day of DineLA. Because it was DineLA, I was expecting to receive pretentiously small servings. But to my surprise, we had a deliciously filling meal with leftovers to spare. If you’re reading this during DineLA week, I highly suggest taking advantage of the $ 39/person five course dinner deal. We saved at least $ 11/per person because of DineLA. Here is the DineLA menu: Between the Meateater BF and myself, we ordered the following: — Tomato Basil Soup — Red Bean & Corn Tortilla Soup — Hearts of Palm Ceviche — Cheesy Fingerling Potatoes — Grilled Moroccan-Spiced Cauliflower — Herbed Focaccia with Gravy — Wild Mushroom Farro Risotto — Saffron-Infused Savory Corn Cakes — Blondie with Peanut Butter Ice Cream — Pumpkin Pie in a Mason Jar Our first course was the soups. Both delicious although the Red Bean & Corn Tortilla Soup was more of a bean chili topped with tortilla chips. Still good but I think my taste buds preferred the Tomato Basil Soup. There was a flavor in there that kinda reminded me of tea. Probably from the oregano. Whatever it was, it was delicious! Second and Third courses came out fairly close together and it was a lot of food! The serving sizes were much bigger than expected. Grilled Moroccan-Spiced Cauliflower was full of flavor although not very memorable. My favorite was the Herbed Focaccia with Gravy. Mmmmm, the mushroom and sweet onion ragu was heaven for my mouth! Even though the gravy covered the focaccia, I could still taste the herb flavor coming through. The Cheesy Fingerling Potatoes had this yummy nacho cashew cheese sauce that was so creamy. I also loved the Hearts of Palm Ceviche. Light and refreshing flavors which brought a nice contrast to the heaviness of the other dishes. It came with a side of Srirahca Popcorn that we weren’t sure what to do with. But eventually we used it as a topper for the ceviche. Fourth course continued to impress us. The Saffron-Infused Savory Corn Cakes are pan seared and it slowly soaked up all the goodness of the balsamic reduction. The Wild Mushroom Farro Risotto, although not originally vegan, can be made vegan. Three types of mushrooms(shiitake and I think crimini and portobello) blended surprisingly well. Even though I could taste truffle oil with each bite, I could still taste the distinct flavors of the different types of mushrooms. Fifth course ended our happy meal on an even happier note! The Blondie was crisp and doughy. The Peanut Butter Ice Cream was perfectly rich. The Pumpkin Pie in a Mason Jar was trifle-like with a layer of granola, spiced pumpkin filling, more granola, and topped with whipped cream. It’s my new favorite thing in life! :) Service was friendly and fairly quick. Atmosphere is rustic-hipster and lighting is a bit romantic. Our dinner was amazing and delicious! The Meateater BF inhaled all of his dishes and made a significant dent in my dishes when I was starting to get full. My leftovers were just as tasty the next day too. I foresee many visits to Vegetable in my future :)

Awesome vegan comfort food & great service. The focaccia w/mushroom gravy & butternut squash toast was a decadent treat, and the maple glazed carrots & Brussels sprouts were super tasty. I finished the meal with pumpkin pie w/coconut whipped cream. Overall a delicious and satisfying experience. Will definitely return!

My boyfriend and I just got back from here and we are so stuffed and happy! They were participating in Dine LA so we each got a three course meal for 20 bucks. We’re definitely going to become regulars here! If you haven’t had the«cheesy» fingerling potatoes, then I think it’s time to remedy that.

Delicious vegan dishes! The execution is superb… Well, watch out because things like the Mac and cheese are very spicy so pay attention to spice levels if you’re spicy food sensitive… If you like spicy, you’ll be happy. For non-spicy eaters, definitely try the focaccia bread dish! Also… I wish they had more affordable prices… This is a once a month price range for me… You would spend about $ 80-$ 100 on two people. A little much for what it is…

We just went to try Vegetable for Dine LA week, so we got to have a five course prix-fixe meal. It was fantastic! My daughter is a vegetarian and I am gluten-free and we both were in heaven! Even my meat eating, protein craving son was satisfied. Especially delicious were the Focaccia with Mushroom Gravy and the Farro Risotto. We want to go back and try everything.

My wife and I went there yesterday evening for dinner and ordered a handful of excellent veggie plates and a bottle of kombucha. The food comes out as prepared, the plates are on the smaller end, but the food is clean, solid and not gimmicky. It’s great the chef doesn’t rely on tofu or other meat substitutes and instead emphasizes the veggies. The food is clean and tasty so this is going to be one of our regular go to spots(we like Tender Greens and Gracias Madre for reference). The restaurant space is a charming and inviting size, and street parking is metered and easy enough.

I loved this place! Their motto should be «lettuce turnup your food game.» Found it on Unilocal and chose it as my birthday spot to grub at. Started the meal with some yummy, maple sugary carrots with a slight candied crunch to them. Followed that with an epic grilled cheese duo, each with individual and unique palettes of flavor, but equally rich tasting and buttery. Dipped that in a perfectly paired homemade soup, a flavorful, smooth, Marinera-esque, light tomato bisque. Wow. Ended the meal with 2 insanely delicious guilt-free treats. Warm blonde brownie that I literally topped with the other dessert I ordered: peanut butter ice cream, hot fudge, candied walnuts, and whipped cream. My date typically eats meat for most dinner meals. This was considered branching out for him and he said, «it was special in every way!» :) –he gobbled up the carrots P. s. Did I mention we drank a fresh coconut and split a Maca-Berry Kombucha that refueled not just our body but also our minds. Huge fans. Going out for drinks doesn’t always have to be typicalOutside the box P. s.s. The art work on the wall is nice and handmade; just like the food. There’s also puns…

This is one of my favorite new restaurants in Los Angeles. The food has been absolutely fantastic every time I have been here. So far, I have tried the hearts of palm ceviche, herbed focaccia & gravy, cheesy fingerling potato, butternut squash toast, three-bean chili, roasted broccoli, grilled spicy sweet potato, and mac & cheese. Everything has been outstanding! I had no idea plant-based foods could be so creative and tasty! Moreover, the food is local, seasonal, and organic. I love this restaurant! I want to try everything on their menu!

My vegetarian daughter brought me here and it was AMAZING! Without a doubt I enjoyed some of the best food in my life… it was over Thanksgiving weekend and we actually wanted to go the next day but they were closed. I took a picture of my entrée but not sure I can remember what it was called. It was spicy and beautiful! Try the watermelon lemonade for a refreshing beverage. I loved everything about this place and can’t wait to return.

Some of the best vegan/gf food I’ve ever had! I don’t think becoming vegan would be that bad if I ate food like this every day. I loved their brussel sprouts and their corn cake the most, and their chocolate beet cake(gluten-free) was some of the best dessert I’ve ever had. I hope they open up another one closer to where I live in the valley. I can’t wait to return!

This may be my favorite restaurant in LA! I came here with a large group, so I got to try a TON of things on the menu. Pretty much everything that we tried would have been a standout at any other restaurant. The only things I would pass on are the ceviche and chocolate cake. What I loved most, from top to bottom(I loved ALL of the following, but hopefully the order helps): Savory corn cakes– with spicy chickpea and sweet onion stew with kale, smoked aioli, and mango salsa. This was my favorite! Truffle mushroom flatbread with Alfredo sauce– before becoming vegan, I used to love a seafood pizza, and this was very reminiscent of that. Yum, truffles! Duo of grilled cheese: two different breads, with pretty grill marks and a really rich and flavorful tomato soup for dipping. Potatoes: cheesy fingerling potatoes with nacho cashew cheese and coconut sour cream, garnished with chives. Pretty presentation, and great cheesy flavor. What’s not to like? Brussels sprouts: it’s easy enough to make delicious Brussels sprouts at home, but with the balsamic, pears, and bread crumbs, these were packed with flavor. This is comfort food at its best, with really great depth of flavor, and a really nice variety. Just about everything here is amazing. This isn’t around the corner from me, but that won’t stop me from coming back as soon as I can!

SMALLESTPORTIONS I’VEEVERSEEN. only come here if you are: a small CHILDOR a FEMALE under 116 lbs. with an EATINGDISORDER. i’m not exaggerating, my friend i went with is a female 5’0″ tall. she was still peckish after the meal. i’m 5’11″ and weigh 192.5 lbs. I WASSTARVING. there were two hipster guys with beards and tatts in there as well. they looked like they could’ve used a cheezburgah. they couldn’t have weighed more than 140 lbs each. Ridiculous. i’m so pissed. I so wanted to LOVE this place… but alas, I have to TRASH it instead. I had high hopes because i was a HUGE fan of «Sun Power Café» that was here before it became«Vegetable». So I saw Vegetable reviewed on KTLA news and came with my friend but it was just a fucking joke. we had: Watermelon Horchata — delicious. Foccacia Bread appetizer — SMALL. delicious but we split it and finished it in 2 bites each. Kale salad — EXTRAEXTRAMINUSCULESMALL. probably weighed a total of 1 oz in weight. i kid you not, it couldn’t have been more than 15 sprigs of kale with 6PAPERTHIN carrot slivers. finished it in 3 bites. quite good tho. Mac and cheese — SMALL. tasted good. as you can see the food was fine. it was good, i’ll give it that. but FUCK i want to be GODDAMNEDFULL when I eat a meal!!! for fuck’s sake! this meal pissed me off. these types of business models NEVER work. the type of business model where chefs think people will pay top dollar to be hungry after the meal is done. uh, no… i’ll just go to «Cut» or «Maestro’s» for a steak if i want to pay an arm and a leg. «Lemonade» found out the hard way and they started increasing their portion sizes after so many complaints. so the problem i had with this place: the dishes are NOT filling in any sense of the word. they are quite simply«tapas». REALLY overpriced tapas. the kale salad has no substance in it to speak of. It’s the kind of salad that another restaurant serves as an accompaniment to a protein/entrée(like«Urth Café» to be specific). It’s so lame-brained to be stingy with the vegetables because it would cost merely pennies on the dollar to add 6 times as much kale. It would only take another couple of pennies on the dollar to throw in some chopped spiced pecans, figs, charred fennel, parsnips, tomatoes, cucumbers, green onion, bell peppers, cheese ANYTHING that could’ve added a little more weight to this utterly preposterous salad. I think«Native Foods» has much better portions. So does«Veggie Grill». So does«Sun Power Café.» In fact, let’s compare the $ 10 Red Leaf Kale salad at «Vegetable» to the $ 12 Kale Colossus Salad at «Sun Power Café.» There’s no comparison at all. «Sun Power’s» salad is delicious and fucking ginormous at $ 12…STACKED with kale, bananas, raisins, walnuts, onions. It weighs at LEAST1 lb. and 30 times the size of the $ 10 kale salad at «Vegetable.» I couldn’t even finish my salad at Sun Power. now THAT’S a business model that works… which is why«Sun Power» moved on to a bigger location and there’s always a line out the door. the parking lot is so packed with people coming and going that they had to hire valet service for parking. «Vegetable» on the other hand was EMPTY. and sadly it will remain so, because simply put, your dollar goes much further elsewhere. i would never come back here no matter how good the food is. I don’t mind paying more for vegetarian/vegan food, but I want to be FULL and I don’t need to drop $ 150 in doing so. the mac n cheese was also ridonkulously small. i love the mac n cheese portion served by «The Garage» on Overland Ave in Palms. I can’t finish it most nights. the mac n cheese at «Vegetable» however is just a side dish at best. At another more appropriately priced restaurant this size of mac and cheese would’ve been presented with a protein choice under one price for the both.(*think getting ribs at a rib joint. comes with kale, mac n cheese, cornbread, and beans. Vegetable’s mac n cheese should’ve been presented the same way. as an accompaniment to something more substantial.) Décor is BEAUTIFUL. A lot of money went into revamping this place, this is the old location of the wonderful«Sun Power Café»(now at a newer, bigger location). I LOVED the seating(modern country/shabby chic). The seating arrangements were much better than the former location as well. I LOVED the simplicity of the menu, not ostentatious at all. Great ambiance. The lighting was great! I even loved the tiles in the bathroom and the antique hot/cold water fixtures. Jessica, our server, was lovely and gave us great, cheerful service.

This is the latest vegan-friendly restaurant in Studio City. They are a solid 4-stars. With a few changes and a little more practice, they could be 5-star. The Good: — — — — — — It is located in SunCafe’s old building, but they’ve done a great job redecorating. Much nicer feel. Everything is organic. Their menu has symbols for vegan, raw, & gluten-free. Of the 21 items, 19 are vegan, 4 are raw, and 18 are gluten-free. Smokey white bean & potato soup. Mac & chese. The OK: — — — — — — Prices. Parking. There is no lot, and parking in front is limited both in spaces and by time restrictions. You can probably find a spot kitty-corner across the street. Crispy house-made focaccia bread(unexpectedly served like biscuits and gravy). Watermelon steak salad. The watermelon steak was cool, but I would have like the salad portion to have been heartier. The Bad: — — — — — — They don’t have a drinks menu, so you’ll need to ask what’s available. None of dessert options are vegan. I don’t understand why. My entrée was on the small side. And the lack of a vegan dessert option meant I left hungry. Other thoughts: — — — — — — Weekend brunch options would be nice. As would more raw choices.
