Always love Pier 1! This particular store is a great size store. The easy free parking in back makes it a breeze to get in and out quickly. The peeps here are helpful and not pushy.

So this truly was a customer service debacle. I saw a rug I liked for $ 499 and indicated to Kimberly the sales girl(who was sweet at first) that I wanted to purchase this rug. She disappeared into the back, resurfacing 20 minutes later saying the system said there were 3 but she couldn’t find them. She offered to look again with another staff member and I said ok… once again a lengthy amount of time passes and she comes to tell me no dice with the rug. She offers the floor model and I accept because she said the manager would knock of 10−20% because it was dusty. She brings Wendy the manager over who instantly refuses to knock anything off the rug and stalks away. Undaunted, I pay for the rug ask them to vacuum it before I take it. Kimberly disappears for another lengthy stretch and brings out a Swiffer vacuum that she plops on my rug without taking off the filthy swiffer pad that was still on it! At this point over an hour has passed and I am on my last nerve. I ask for a proper vacuum and let her know I am happy to vacuum it myself. She obliges and I get to work on my new rug with Kimberly hovering. I say how disappointed I am in this whole situation and she promptly says«To be fair you can go stand in line again and get your refund!» She then flounces off. My mouth is agape and I look at my friend who was with me. No one offers help carrying the rug out to the car so my female companion and I attempt to drag/carry the carpet out. On the way we pass Wendy the manager who glances at us ANDWALKSAWAY!!! Thank God for Josh the salesguy that we flagged down who was a doll, he helped us and we were on our way. I get annoyed everytime I look at that rug, its a shame it looks so cute in my living room!

Location is key for me. And this is a definite winner. Lots of parking. Lots of shops close by: Urban Outfitters, Starbucks, Lucky Brand, Gap, Indexx and many more. This is a large location chock full of merchandise. If they don’t have what you came in looking for, they will check their shipment schedule to see if its coming in or if it is at another location for you. The staff does seem to be stretched a little thin, and sometimes I do have to wait for someone to help me, but they’re quick about getting to people who are waiting and always cheerful and helpful when you manage to get someone. That said, you definitely won’t get pestered while you shop here. I much prefer searching someone out to having someone come up to me every two minutes asking if the can help me. You always know someone is at a register somewhere, so you wont be hunting all day. And you might just see a celebrity or two shopping at this location. I know I have.

I’m not sure if it’s me, but I always feel«clinged to» when I go into home decorating stores. They kinda make me uncomfortable, although I love looking around them. Surprisingly, I went into this Pier 1 to look for some sparkly accoutrements for my apartment and I didn’t feel uncomfortable shopping. I usually try to hide behind big sculptural pieces to hide from overzealous store attendants and dart between blind spots to check out neat items without peering eyes, but I felt pretty free to roam here. Not as good a selection or variety as the only other Pier 1 I know in Hollywood, but I picked up a few items that I’m still happily displaying in my pad. Oh, and I did see Tyce Diorio from SYTYCD here and managed to spit out«I luv your choreography ~giggle~». My voice went up an octave when I said it too.
