We love Stone Bar Inn! Never had a bad meal. Super fresh ingredients, delicious food combinations. Great wine list. Really awesome, warm and cozy atmosphere. Coming from New York, we expect a lot from restaurants and this place always delivers. It’s definitely a must see when in the area — either as a local or while visiting.

Expensive but the early bird special is definitely worth it. We were the only under 50 y/o couple there but the food was really good and the presentation was beautiful. Will definitely go there again for dinner!

The most amazing food is served here and it is a great dining atmosphere. My husband and I sat at the bar and our bartender was great and very friendly. It is a little bit on the pricier side which is probably why it is mostly a middle aged crowd. We loved it and we will definitely be returning again.

The restaurant is overpriced and a real disappointment. We had scallops, which were mediocre. Appetizers and soups were better. We ate outside on the patio, which was a very nice atmosphere.

What a great spot. Food was exceptional and Carol at the bar is a great mixologist! Mary Ann is superb and makes you feel right at home. The game good platter was out of this world!

Saturday night, full. Seated within 15 min and we waited at a the bar. Well stocked bar. We had a selection of appetizers baked Bree, smoked trout and beef carpaccio. All were good. Big portions for appetizers as well. We were going to end with the cheese board but the 3 appetizers filled us up. Fresh fruit and ice cream was a great clean desert. Overall a bit pricy $ 12 glass of wine $ 14 for a Manhattan those are city prices!!! Yes we will be back but for big events not the«lets go out for dinner» on the moment.

Have been here many times since it is so close to where we used to live. You will not be disappointed and the prices are to be expected for the quality of food. I want to give it four stars due to the wait staff and the consistency — you know you will get good food and a romantic dinner. You will also get a very hearty meal and a menu that rarely changes. And roasted veggies. Always. With everything.

We’ve enjoyed numerous dinners here over the years. Tonight’s was no diss appointment either. Their specials for New Years Eve were outstanding. Stuffed chicken breast was perfectly done and the sauce was an nice accompaniment. The Mahi Mahi with the mango chutney was moist and flakey with an incredible sear. Their surf and turf of steak and shrimp was a great twist on an old favorite. Everyone’s veggies and garnish were done to perfection. Highly recommended.

Very intimate, old New York feel to it in the middle of the poconos! The food is always delicious(I recommend the filet and lobster) :) the wait staff is also extremely well experienced and knowledgeable. No complaints and have been here four times so far and making sure to return!

I was a bit skeptical at first because of the lack of reviews but this place is a winner. We came for my mom’s birthday. I had a bottle of Merlot, the mussels in a Thai curry sauce, soup sampler(crab and corn bisque, French onion, Manhattan clam chowder) and the Delmonico rib eye for 2(medium rare). Everything was EXCELLENT and very much on point. Our server was very nice and accommodating. I felt very welcomed here; the service was superb. I could come back just for that but the food was A1 also. The bar was fully stocked, décor was quaint and inviting. They even have a real fireplace here and it’s lit. Awesome!!!

Mu husband and I were very pleasantly surprised by this place. We sat in the cutest, coziest booth. Our waitress was very pleasant and provided great service without being overbearing. My husband inquired about bread being brought to the table, aa there was butter and crackers. She mistook his question to mean he didn’t want the warm, crusty delicious cranberry orange bread that was brought out. so she had the chef make him some garlic bread which was equally delicious! We had the raw oysters. wonderful & fresh.& the beef carappacio was outstanding. That’s just to name a few items. overall great dining experience. .can’t wait to go back!

One of the best places in the poconos! the owner and wait staff are 2nd to none. always impresses us each time we go there. don’t understand why it’s only a 3.5 star. well you can’t please everyone i guess and i read the ones that didn’t like it and i think i know why and who that type of person is, and i will stop there. this place is very intimate, romantic, classy, and still you can wear jeans if you want, it’s that diverse. the drinks are great, love the mohitos and martinis. love the buck a shuck nights on fridays, plus there is entertainment that night as well so it’s hopping. we usually stick to appetizers because they’re so delish but sometimes we get the rack of lamb and steaks, both awesome. we would highly recommend this place.

STAYAWAY!!! We visit the Poconos several times a year, and in April 2014, went to this place as it was recommended by a local. I will start with the good: The place has a nice cozy feeling, it is very dark, and it is not very big. That’s it! We ordered the french onion soup and Caesar salad, both horrible. The soup tasted like it came from a box and they just melted a slice of cheese on top. the salad was soggy. We wanted steak, and decided on the steak for two. When the steak arrived, it was an 8oz steak(if that much) and we each had a side of mashed(a spoonfull) and carrots(again, like canned vegetables) we thought there must have been some mistake, since all steaks for two we have ever ordered have been big. The waitress informed us that the«for two» meant two sides but it was still with the steak for one in the menu. so, we asked for another steak for one. when they finally brought it out(after everything on the table was cold) the steak was raw even though I asked for it to be well done. and i mean, RAW. we asked that it be cooked longer, and she was back in 5 minutes this time, with the same exact raw piece of meat. So at this point we asked for the check, and just told her we would not be eating the steak(not asking her to take it off the bill, just to clear up and give us a check) at this point the«hostess»(who turns out is the owner) came over and asked what the trouble was. When we explained to her the situation, she basically told us that’s the way the steak is served, and that we were«not in NY» I mean, she was not even nice. and here is the kicker, we left a $ 30 tip on a $ 150 bill and the owner chased us outside to find out why we left such as small tip!!! so 20% tip is not a good enough tip!!!, $ 180 total bill for a meal we didnt even eat, and she chased us outside to ask for a bigger tip.(maybe the waitresses only work on tips, but even so) Stay Away From this place, it looks nice, but the food sucks, the portions are tiny, and they have manhattan prices. And be wary of your tipping guidelines because they will chase you in the parking lot if the owner is not satisfied with the amount you leave.

I’m fortunate that this place is only five minutes from my house… I’m also unfortunate because of the cost I can’t make it my regular dining out place! It’s not quite too expensive to make it only a «special occasion» place but expensive enough that I have to think about whether or not I want to spend the money! I’ve been here about a dozen times and the service has never been bad. They do a fantastic job making you feel special for dining with them which is great. From the bartenders to the wait and support staff they do a really nice job. As for the atmosphere I really enjoy the experience, there a few different areas you can sit including the kitchen which is a lot of fun to do once in awhile. The menu has a number of great items on it and all areas are tasty, great appetizers, entrees and fantastic desserts. You can’t go wrong here as the food, service and atmosphere is always good — one of my favorite finer dining locations in the area.

My boyfriend took me here for our 2 year anniversary dinner while vacationing at Camelback Mountain. He reserved us a table next the the fireplace. This was the cutest restaurant ever, all decorated for the holidays. What a gem! Our waitress Joanne was extremely friendly, helpful and went above and beyond adding that extra touch(putting 2 candles in our dessert). The drinks were delicious. The beer battered shrimp was eh, a bit mushy. French onion soup was delicious. Filet mignon was good, not like a good steakhouse and probably not worth the $$. The homemade bread was incredible. We ended up ordering a dessert even though we were stuffed. The 3 gelatos were great, but the brownie that came with it was very hard. Overall the food was good, not the best food we’ve ever had but the entire experience and atmosphere defiately made us leaving with big smiles on our face. If we ever make it back to the area I would love to go back for another romantic meal and order some different items.

Well, after a long hiatus due to work load we finally were able to go to the Stone Bar Inn. We couldn’t wait as we hadn’t been there for such a long time. Perhaps two years or more. Well, talk about a state of decline, we were so disappointed. We ordered the PEI mussels which were fair and not fresh. The fresh oysters were, well oysters! Nothing to rave about. The menu prices are in the NYC stratosphere. I find it hard to justify these prices as the overhead in New York is so much higher than it is here in the Poconos. They need to update the service ware and plates. They look like they’re from a yard sale at the local penetentiary. Please upgrade the table settings. Beat up diners have better than that. Anyway, back to the food. Our entrees arrived. A full rack of lamb that looked like it had spent years in a freezer. It was not robust and pink like we remembered and certainly the size was nowhere near what we remembered. The pork chop was not worth even discussing here. What a shame! I guess some things change and not always for the better. We loved this place as we knew we were always assured of a good and exceptional meal. I guess the reviews and blogs are correct. I was hard-pressed to believe what I was reading as I can’t ever remember having a bad meal here in the past. Boy things do change in a short span of time. The wine list is extraordinarily expensive as I know some of these wines and the markup should not be this high to cut a profit. A $ 5 wholesale price for a bottle of wine should not be selling for $ 46 on the menu. I just doesn’t make good business sense. We passed on the desserts as we felt it would be a continuation of a bad dinner. Perhaps the patrons here are regulars and are used to this but I’m sure if they took a leave of absence, so to speak, and returned they’d be saying the same thing. It’s a charming place with a unique atmostphere. I’m sorry we did not enjoy our meal and are very disappointed but now we have to start looking for an alternative. Maybe the owner or perhaps new owner will hear these reviews/blogs and do something about it. One thing I can say is that the service staff gets high marks. They were attentive, charming and completely personable. I give them high reviews and because of them they made the evening somewhat enjoyable. Had the food been up to par this would have been a memorable night and a reminder of our past experiences. If there are better restaurants out there feel free to write about them. I’d be happy to go there as I have now stricken Stone Bar Inn off my list.

After living in the Pocono’s for many years and hearing awesome things about the Stone Bar Inn I decided to finally go ahead and give it a try. Boy was I disappointed. Upon arrival we were not greeted by a hostess and about 3 employees walked right by us without saying a word or acknowledging us. Finally after approaching the waitress we were seated for our 8pm reservation. We were seated in a room with only about 3 other tables so that was nice. Our Martinis were fabulous and they give you a generous amount. We ordered calamari for appetizer and it was very chewy. For my entrée I had the half duck and it was extremely dry and tasteless. My friend ordered the lamb and barely touched it as she did not like the sauce it was served with. We were looking forward ordering dessert but after being disappointed with our meal we decided not too. The waitress did offer to bring out something else and than sent the manager to talk to us. They did remove the lamb from the bill since it was barely touched. My girlfriend and I like to venture out and try new restaurants in the area for our girls night out outings … This one we will not be back to for sure!

Very good food with good service. Not sure if it’s worth the price… At least on Friday’s, they seem to have live music which is a plus. Otherwise, the atmosphere is nice(lots of wood), but not great. Would I recommend eating here? Sure. If you’re local and want to mix it up from the other usual suspects, this is definitely on the list. (In more recent visits, the food has been slightly lower quality than it used to be, so YMMV.)
