Target is Target, nothing more or less I suppose. They have basically all that you could need from clothes to food and even stretching to some areas like electronics and housewares. I really didn’t expect this location to be any different then the ones I normally visit where I live. Unusually, I saw plenty of empty shelves throughout all of the general housewares and electronic areas, mostly in the compact discs. I’m not sure if this is normal considering I arrived at around ten in the morning but It seemed pretty sparse in contrast to the amount of customers in the store. However, the staff here were very friendly and offered friendly smiles even when they were busy stocking merchandise. As such, for those in the Strongsville area, this is a great place to shop at when you just need a little of everything. It’s a step above the traditional Wal-Mart and is at least guaranteed to make you leave with something in hand… they even have a Pizza Hut near the entrance!

I enjoy their organic foods and hope they will continue expanding in this area. I made a purchase at the Parma location and the following day finished up my shopping at Strongsville. While at Parma, the cashier had trouble using my cartwheel app. We figured it out, but in the interim, I forgot to use another electronic coupon on a purchase. When I went to Strongsville the next day, I was given the difference in cash. Quick and painless! The security breech could have happened to any store. I think the year security monitoring was a nice gesture and I will continue to support Target, especially at the Strongsville location.

Target vs. Walmart I like Target better than Walmart, anyway. I feel they may be a little pricier, but I feel better about my purchases and overall shopping experience. I think I go to both these places equally, Walmart more to get food, but neither too much. Target always has the latest movies in stock, compared to Walmart always seems to be picked through by the time I get to them. Target has better selection of clothing, by clothing I mean wide beaters, white t’s, socks and boxer briefs(not boxers). Looking for furniture, they always have a better brand name selection and better quality. Walmart seems as if 70% of their furniture stock is stuff picked up along the highway and boxed up. In my experience anyways. Targets seasonal selection, such as flip flops in Summer, towels, bathing suits. Winters boots, hats, socks, hoodies, all better than Walmart. Even with Walmart having layaway back, I’ll still be at Target the majority of the time.

The Starbucks at this locale the is not my favorite either…3 tries before my drink was made as I asked. Le sigh… Overall though, they’ve done a nice face-lift to this Target. My cashier was nice & the restrooms were clean.

It’s hard to say a lot about a Target store, especially your average location. I went in, used the restrooms, grabbed a bag of popcorn, and purchased some items in the health section, and headed out. First, the restrooms were clean — but I’ve come to expect that all Target restrooms will be clean, as they keep pretty good track of the cleaning schedule, and it seems like this is a corporate-wide policy with training and even electronic assistance, reminding the team when a restroom needs to e cleaned. Regardless of how they do it, the standard seems to be clean restrooms at Target, which is nice. I love the popcorn at Target, especially when it’s fresh. I have had stale popcorn at Target before, but this is very rare in my experience. At a single dollar for a bag of popcorn, you can’t go wrong. The stuff is like crispy, oil-and-salt flavored crack. I recommend getting a water, because this stuff will make you thirsty. Nothing like shopping at Target with a fresh bag of popcorn. Oh, and if you do get a stale bag for some reason, just tell them; they’ll make a fresh batch, and 15 minutes later, you’ll have a bag of insanely perfect popcorn in your hot little hands. No, seriously, they’re hot! Lastly, although I didn’t run around the entire store(do you really need to, when it’s Target?) I did visit the pharmacy and first aid products area, and it was well stocked. I purchased the store-brand pectin cough-drops because they seem to work better than the heavier medication drops I picked up over at CVS — just the active ingredient works for my sore throat, I guess. Target’s «Up and Up» brand of pectin-based cherry cough drops are exactly like Luden’s, but are less expensive. Just don’t make the mistake of getting the menthol-based cherry drops, because those are nasty — unless you like methol and mint. –shudder– Check-out was a little slow, with many registers open, but for some reason, none of the lines wanted to move. There’s nothing more upsetting than having one or two items in your hand, while someone else jumps into the«express» line with a huge cart full of crap. Target usually handles this better, but it only took me a few minutes to check-out, so not a big deal. That just doesn’t seem to happen as often at my local Target. The odd thing about this location is that it has a Starbucks, which isn’t odd when you think about my Target back home, which also has a Starbucks. What’s weird is that there’s a full-scale Starbucks location in the same complex… like, within walking distance! True, there’s the coffee-while-you-shop convenience factor, but if I had to choose between a full-Starbucks and a Target Starbucks within a few hundred yards, I’d choose the real location every time. I think, for me, it’s the fact that the corporate locations have 100% integration into the corporate system(for loyalty cards, giving you your free pumps of syrup, complimentary soy milk, and no hassle on the free beverage cards), and therefore know the policies, procedures and recipes without exception. At the satellite locations, they don’t always get your order right, and sometimes flub up some of the minor perks that the loyalty card give you. It may seem like a small thing to some, but Starbucks corporate knows that coffee is a very serious day-in day-out addiction for most, and it’s good to get the customer’s coffee right every time. To bring customers back, you need to be consistent with each cup, so you build the brand loyalty with people — because seriously, you could make a lot of this stuff at home, yet people don’t. Overall, this is a decent Target, which didn’t overly impress me on the service side, but had the average selection(and fresh popcorn! ommm nom-nom-nom!) of every other Target I’ve visited over the years. Convenient to many restaurants and other businesses within the same shopping center, with a full traffic light for easy-in easy-out, this Target is a solid choice for many reasons.
