This one one of my favorite farm stands in NH. I get excited to stop there whenever we go that-a-way. Good variety and always changing seasonally. Fair prices and nice folks too. Me likes.

Lemme sum up: Fresh and varied produce, pick your own flowers, milk/bacon/eggs available, seasonal baked goods, and soap Barker’s is the best little farmstand on the seacoast. They have everything you need for staples from the garden along with things that are just nice to have. Their food selection is terrific. I especially like their«salsa in a basket», which is a strawberry quart basket filled with onion, tomato, jalapeño, cilantro and tomatillo. Fingerling potatoes are available here! There is a cooler in the back with locally sourced bacon, milk, and eggs along with Swampscott soda. Depending on the time of year, you can get cider donuts, pies, brownies, and bread. In the«nice to have» department, Barker’s has a couple of offerings. There are bouquets of cut flowers which you can purchase for half the price of what you could get at a florist or supermarket. Or, better yet, you can go out to their flower garden and pick your own bouquet! Sometimes they have dried chili strings or dried flower arrangements which you can hang as home décor. As you ring up your purchase, don’t forget to grab a bar of handmade soap.(I’m partial to the Voodoo Spice.) If you just feel the need to get in there and grow your own, Barker’s also has a green house. You can pick up seedlings for most garden vegetables there. They offer a good selection of annuals and perennials, as well. Barker’s is not open year round. Let’s face it, it’s New England and winter is a time to live off the preserves that you made during the summer and fall. When late spring rolls around, make sure you put Barker’s as your first stop for food shopping and pick up good local food to keep you going.

The absolute best traditional farmstand in the region. Top-quality. Reasonable prices. Super friendly. 100 percent locally operated for generations. Shop there in season and you will be healthier, happier and support one of the few remaining authentic family farms nearabouts. In addition to local field crops, also carries locally sourced meat, dairy, eggs, bakery products and kitchen sundries. We love you, Barker’s.

It’s two years since I last wrote about Barker’s and they couldn’t be better. Fresh corn and other veggies are everywhere and while I was there, a guy was bringing in some pies. Prices are decent, quality is good, and there’s plenty of variety. The baby cabbage are amazing and there are some kinds of squash that I haven’t seen anywhere else. If you drive past Barker’s without stopping, turn around!
