I have been here multiple times and every time I say to myself I am never going back.(Convenance is a bitch). Every order is always missing a dish, very difficult to convince them to correct the mistake. Incredibly rude staff. Never again…

Unilocal removed my original review so I’ll repost and elaborate. Original post: Probably worst meal I ever ate. Not even sure that was really chicken. What does pigeon taste like? New post: Ive eaten many meals. If I were to rate them from best to worst, the meal I ate at DF was closer to the worst. I ordered some chicken dish from their menu. When it was delivered, it did not look appealing and tasted even worse. I’ve eaten chicken before, and this did not taste like any chicken dish I’ve had before. It was tough and an unusual color and texture for chicken. I wonder if it was some other type of fowl?

I came after reading reviews. Only person at Sushi Bar. Staff and chef were rude and cold. The sushi was good but not good enough to be this arrogant and rude. When I asked if they had Toro I felt like a criminal The Chef is not«Nobu»

I’m giving this restaurant a one star because the owners are very rude. I called in an order and the owner’s wife apparently does not understand English very well and she messed up the order and had an attitude when I went to pick up the order and told her that it was the wrong order.

I’ve ordered from here about 3 times. The last order that I got had vegetable tempura that was disappointing, had no salt at all. The tempura cheesecake was too sweet but other than that, they have great food. I love the mochi!

Saw many positive reviews online and as an avid sushi eater wanted to check Dao out. I must say the service was great and very attentive. Our rolls were perfect and the overall price was spot on. Highly recommend if your in the area.

The sushi was actually pretty good. I was surprised by how good the food was. The service was ok. Overall the experience was pretty good. I will be back.

Terrific Asian fusion food in an upbeat, pleasant atmosphere. Seated by the owner and the primary server was his wife. Chicken lettuce wrap appetizer was fresh and tasty; Thai salad with fried tofu was a surprisingly good combination, however the tasty dressing was not peanut as advertised. Drunken noodles with chicken was nice but the dish needed the additional spicy sauce I ordered on the side. The freshly prepared sushi rolls are the signature dishes for good reason: they are attractive and excellent. And, the wine list and bar are perfectly extensive. We will be back!

Yes to everything. Amazing food. We ate basically the menu. Sushi is fresh and delicious. Curry was spicy and delicious. My eating hole is beyond pleased. We will for sure be back. Dream Bomba dessert was large and also amaze.

Tasty Thai takeout and great service! My boyfriend and I were craving Thai so we dropped in to get some takeout. The walls had a lot of family Christmas cards taped to them and they seemed to know a couple of the families that came into the restaurant by name, making it seem and feel like a real friendly and family-oriented restaurant. I got the drunken noodles with added broccoli and my boyfriend had the gyoza and the pad thai made spicy. Everything came just as we ordered it. Both dishes were a good size and had plenty of meat and vegetables. They were very flavorful and delicious. We will definitely be going back for more Thai food next time a craving hits!

Thought it was acceptable to good, might even be very good. A bit more expensive than other places around in that the servings were smaller. I had spicy combo-tuna, salmon, crab. This dish feels«pre-made» in all restaurants, not sure why I ordered it. It was less spicy than I prefer, and had a «chopped up» consistency and the rice was kind of dry. My husband ordered specialty rolls… one was very good(eel avocado), other was«o.k.» but pricey($ 9.50.spider roll). Place is far nicer inside than the poorly lit outside(in a poor kept, tacky shopping center)) would suggest, very comfortable with a nice décor. Service was quick, friendly and we had no issues as others have written with the wait staff. We will try it again and order other dishes, just was too tired to concentrate on picking wisely!

Awful customer service!!! We ordered takeout for delivery from Grubhub, not over the phone where someone could be misunderstood. Was given scallops instead of the shrimp that was ordered and clearly on the receipt. Called to let them know and the woman asked«Why can’t you just eat the scallops?» That isn’t what was ordered or paid for. How about you start with an apology. Then was offered a $ 5.00 discount on the next order. They can keep the $ 5.00 discount and their rude manners. Never ordering again. Word to the wise, treat your customers better. They pay your bills.

Excellent food. Still trying to find a place in CT that beats this place. tried most of the dishes and loved all of them. Always fresh and the food portions are just right in comparison to the price. almost a regular here. n so glad found this place in Shelton CT.

Hello all. I have to admit I am a food snob. Recently I found Dao and this is a true hidden gem in Connecticut. Hands down the best sushi I have ever had. The sushi was the freshest fish I ever had. The flavors and sauces which many are Sao originals was also some of the best ever. Sadly I don’t think I will ever eat sushi any where else ever again. To add to the experience is the owner Paul. He is charismatic, knowledgable and so much fun to be around. He truly makes you feel at home. When you go there make sure you ask him to perform magic but also feel free to let him order for you. In closing, I just found this hidden gem and is a must eat.

The food was awesome! But the waitress kinda ignored us the whole time we were there. So close to a perfect score. I will go back though.

I’m thrilled!!! I saw this place on and then I realized the reviews were above average. I kept looking at the menu and decided to give it a shot… I love Asian fusion. I ordered for takeout, but when I got there it was so nice and inviting I decided to stay. My food was delicious! The Thai Sweet Basil was amazing! It was only vegetables, but the flavors were really good. I also ordered the ginger fried rice and the shrimp pad Thai. I would say my least favorite dish was the pad Thai. We ate and ate and ate and there was still food to take home. I think we found a new spot. It’s so hidden and off the beaten path you might miss it, but it’s definitely worth the U turn!

This the third time we have tried this place… service is absolutely awful!!! Sad because the food is decent… only reason I gave two stars! First time we came was right after they opened, which was a few years ago at this point. They had no clue what they were doing(they were brand new) and it’s very hard to disappoint us, as we are very patient and understanding(we’ve worked in the food industry too). Anyway, we gave it a second try a few years later and the service was just as awful… so bad they gave us a gift card to come back. Fast forward a year or so later, and the service was just as awful the first two times! The waitstaff every single time has had absolutely no clue about waiting a table, let alone common sense. Will never go back… maybe take out, but def not dine-in sorry to say.

Came here on a whim, still new to the dinning experience in Shelton/Stratford. Being from NYC im a little bit of a brat when it comes to Thai and Asian foods(so many more to choose from and better prices!). I have to say, the first time we came, i was blown away! The drunken noodles were perfect! My aunt had the basil chicken and she loved it enough that she ordered it again at our second visit. The seafood dishes can be a bit pricey(17 $ for a dinner shrimp dish!) but honestly, so worth it! We had some of the best sushi ive had since moving to CT– spicy yellow tail, spicy tuna and some yellow tail with jalapeño and roe. I found all the sushi prices to be fair and match any other place ive seen or been. We will be back, and often! The service was great and there was no wait at all. The restaurant itself is nice and though we took our food home, well probably go to relax there next time.

Solid, but a bit pricey for what it is. The sushi rolls were definitely decent, but there are other sushi restaurants around that charge the same price for«all you can eat» dinners as a «combo» entrée here(basically, only 9 pieces of sushi and six very small rolls). Also, the free appetizer coupon on their website is only good for edamame($ 4 value). Hibachi dinners also cost the same as other hibachi but without the show(since the meals come prepared from the kitchen). On the plus side, there were lots of sushi options to choose from, several good special rolls, neat décor and«private» dining areas, and good fried ice cream for only $ 4.

Food is very fresh at this Chinese-run, Asian lounge… Just love the décor… so entirely deceiving, as the strip mall it is located in looks a hot mess!!! Open the door, and be whisked into a very well– done lounge space that is warm, non-fussy, great lighting, 3 flat screens — 2 at the bar area, 1 at the sushi bar. If you are a traveler here on business, very comfortable to eat here solo… Male Chinese greeter at the front knowledgeable, was chuckling inside as he was explaining the health benefits of lotus root to a Caucasian lotus virgin(hehe). Food is $$$ here… let’s put it this way… we ate super super light, as was only peckish and not wanting much: oversalted edamame, 2 petite 6 piece makis, one small rocket and avocado salad, 2 club sodas & lime — $ 30! Yay for the Unilocal deal! Were so kind and no problem when I sent back my salad for being too thickly overdressed with Japanese ginger dressing.
