The hubs and I were in the area, and we actually were on our way out of this little town when I saw Pat’s Cakes & Deli. I had to check them out as it looked so cute! We parked and when we stepped in, we were greeted very warmly. The place itself is a cute little café and bakery, owned by Ms. Pat — the bakery has been around for over 30 years, but the addition of the café has only been around for 6. She had decorated the place with faith-based figurines and motivational verses. The menu offers sandwiches, salads, potato salad, macaroni salads, baked items(cakes, cookies, whoopie pies, etc.), and other daily lunch specials(such as soups and chili). I had the Turkey BLT(which came with a side of kettle chips that were super crunchy and yummy; the BLT was also pretty good, considering it was filled(generously) with turkey bacon! It had a nice balance between the mayo, fresh iceberg lettuce, fresh tomato slices, all on a toasted bread of your choice(white, rye, wheat, croissant, etc.; I opted for the white); the hubs had the Egg Salad Sandwich(he had this on regular white, and the egg salad itself was very fresh and yummy, with yummy chunks of hard-boiled egg that were perfectly-seasoned; this also came with a side of kettle chips); a side of Macaroni Salad(light and fresh with perfect al-dente pasta); a side of Potato Salad(not too creamy, with nice chunks of potatoes); a cup of chili(this was sooo yummy! Very hearty with perfectly-cooked kidney beans, chunks of beef, and tomatoes, this was thick and yummy; served with saltine crackers); a cup of taco soup(this was a little watery, but it had the taste of ‘taco’); a cup of chicken noodle soup(chunks of all-white chicken meat, perfectly-cooked al dente pasta, and some celery and carrots); a tall cup of their homebrewed sweet tea(not too sweet and quite refreshing!); and, a Dump Cake(cherry) to go! The staff here are super friendly and oh-so-lovely, and just unbelievably kind! Many locals seem to come in to pick up custom cakes to go. There is some limited seating inside(about 5 tables or so).
