Acme Food and Pharmacy

I bought the worst boneless, skinless, chicken breasts you can imagine at the Stow store. I took the first bite out of my mouth thinking it was gristle. But it never got better. Every bite was like crunchy rubber. The package said it was young chicken. If it was, I can’t imagine what they fed it. We threw out all but one small piece that must have come from a different chicken. I won’t be buying Acme’s chicken any more.

I’ve started to shop at this ACME after many years at the one on Bailey Rd. The store is much cleaner, and less cluttered. In the Deli it seems their store made items, such as ham salad, sandwich spread, and the like are always very tasty. I purchase several of these items, and compared to the one on Bailey Rd. They have much better flavor at this store. I usually shop during the day since I used to work nights and also since I’ve retired, it is so much less crowded at that time. I get frustrated in some stores that put placing items for sale in the aisles instead of the shelves many times at the cost of the customer having to weave around the mess, or wait in the middle of an aisle while someone studies an item because you can’t get two carts down the same aisle. I haven’t seem this problem at this location. I could shop at Giant Eagle, but prefer shopping here, due to cost and selection.

This is my favorite every week grocery store in the area. Recently renovated, the new design is great though you’ll always have a cold cart as they now store there carts outside.
Produce is a definite better selection then at the local Giant Eagle. Prices seem to be lower as well. Meat is as good as it’s always been which is fair. I rather like that they increased their selection of «hippie freak foods» such as gluten free items. My husband is deathly allergic to wheat and I am very thankful for their selections. Though a little overpriced in that particular area, it’s worth it to me to spend an extra fifty cents so I don’t have to waste a drive to a health food store to pick up rice pasta.
Also the wine selection is quite nice. I’ve picked up several at good prices.
Overall, I enjoy my weekly trip here. The workers are nice and pleasant. In addition, it’s pleasant on my wallet!
