My boyfriend and I were on the mountain visiting friends and would have been home too late to shop at the big-chain grocery in New Paltz — so our friends mentioned Emmanuels. My good friend, Lupe also recommends the marketplace. It was worth it — my boyfriend and I love fresh meat and he loves to cook us steak. We were VERY pleased with the chicken and stir fry we found and the taste was so delicious. The surprising part was we found these marinate-in-a-bag Jack Daniels products that made a big difference in our flavor — we’ve never seen these down in town at the New Paltz grocery store and we shop every aisle. Big thank you and when we are visiting our friends we will shop here again for the meat and the convenience.

I love Emmanuel’s Market because of its its butcher that grinds fresh meat, it’s local artists shows, it’s local newspapers, the Nancy Ostrovsky mural on its outside and it’s excellent local, and organic food selections. Yes politeness can be improved — but do say something so that they can improve.

I love that this is a small, locally owned store but that’s about it. The prices are slightly higher, which I don’t mind paying to support small businesses but the service is almost to the point of being rude. The stock people don’t excuse themselves when moving merchandise past a customer and the staff at check out consistently act as if ringing up a customer is an imposition. I make a point to drive the opposite direction to the other locally owned grocery store in the area.
