Sad to say that I agree with all the comments regarding this location. I grew up eating at both the 47th and 26th locations and the taste and quality never varied. The Stone Park location does a disservice to the Atotonilcos name and reputation. I had been told not to bother but I had to see for myself. I hope management takes note of all the reviews and addresses the obvious issues related to having a consistent recipe and product across all of their locations. I won’t stop eating at Atotonilcos, it just will never be this location again.

To start, I have had tacos all over the city of Chicago and suburbs. Taqueria Atotonilco has some of the best tacos that will satisfy you whether your starving or looking for a quick bite. I work in Melrose Park with countless of taquerias but I would rather make the drive here just because I know the quality of their food is incredible. The owner, Scottie, is very genuine and is very proud of the business he carries. In short, if you want to be satisfied without breaking your wallet, Taquerias Atotonilco is the spot to go!

Hands down the best tacos in the Chicago land area. Taste just like the original from little village. Highly recommend the al pastor and the tacos Atotonilco. The service was just as great as the food. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Glad to know I don’t have to drive to the city to get quality and authentic tacos. Definitely coming back

Well I could said everything look good food. But big problem I never see before. my friend and me told to the server get the receipt and gave it to us then I told to the server just to separate so the server said NO! That im confuse they can’t do that said«no». No excuse! Look Buffalo wild wing can fix separate that simple. I’m warning you. Last change it. Then if they can’t fix it then I will repost it. Thank.

Delicious. Just flew in and needed a good meal and this was the spot. We sat down, they brought us delicious pickled vegetables and I had two delicious tacos. The carne Asada was awesome– highly recommend that. My boyfriend got the atotonilco taco which I thought was also extremely delicious. I would get those two again. The horchata was delicious, and the tamarindo Agua fresca was perfect– exactly how it should Taste in my opinion– not overly sweet and perfectly tart. They were exactly the meal we needed. Highly recommend.

Atotonilco is with out a doubt the best taco establishment in the word. I like Asada, I like Lengua, but this place makes the best damn Al Pastor tacos. The sauce they use is spicy and very flavorful that compliments the al pastor very well. I usually go to the one on 26 St. for this. When you add that spicy sauce and start using it for other entrees, then you’re really asking for it. So I decided to try the chilaquiles not knowing that they added that same spicy sauce to it. And damn, they were incredibly delicious. It’s very simple… Tortilla chips with eggs & chorizo and that spicy sauce with a little bit of sour cream and a side of beans and rice. Best damn chilaquiles I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this place or any of their other Chicago locations.

The el pastor is the best I’ve tasted… I grew up near the Mexican border and have been to countless Mexican restaurants. The prices are very reasonable. They don’t accept credit cards, but a handy ATM machine is on premises. We found the service impeccable. Scott(the owner) was very personable and made a point to greet the customers. If you want authentic Mexican cuisine at a reasonable price you have to try Atontonilcos. It was our second visit and we will definitely go there again even though it is a 20 minute drive. BTW: It was crowded when we were there, and clearly, the restaurant has a following with regulars.

This restaurant is nasty. Disappointed really. I rather go to taco bell instead of here. Never again.

This area isn’t kind to chain Mexican restaurants, as I’ve seen places like De Pasada and El Pollo Loco [rightfully so] fall by the wayside. The reason is twofold. They’re expensive, and there’s plenty of mom and pop Mexicans restaurants in the area you can get more bang for your buck. This is a working class neighborhood. Nobody got time foe dat. Why the f**k do you think the two Starbucks closed? That being said, Atotonilco is on another level. They’re a little more expensive, but the food is quality. I’m not sure the area is as receptive though, as this place seems mostly empty. It’s unfortunate. Being that I work right down the street, I’d like to see them stick around since it’s a viable lunch option. One thing in particular I enjoy about this location is they offer burritos. And damn they’re good. I’m indifferent when it comes to the service, except for my last visit when members of the Muñoz family were there. They’re awesome. I mentioned that I go to the location where I live in Pilsen, and we started chatting about the neighborhood and whatnot, while making sure to accommodate me. If you’re in the area looking for Mexican food, you have plenty of options. However unlike many of the others, the food here tastes good sober.

Cheap and awful feeling. The food was above average and the service, serviceable. Actually my server worked hard and was nice but acted — defeated. When it was said and done, though, I felt cheap and used. It was a day after a snowy night. The parking lot was very difficult to navigate because it looked like it was snow-shoveled/snow blowed rather than plowed. My napkin holder was near empty and the server said«we can’t fill it. too many napkins in there, too many napkins used». Like that was an Ok explanation. Yes, he actually said that. The plastic wear the cheapest around… couldn’t even cut my burrito and bent like a strained fishing pole trying to dig out my rice. Worse of all, no credit cards accepted. The manager actually said they don’t want to take the cost of credit card but offered me the ATM at $ 3.00 bucks a pop next to the register. Are you kidding me? You have been cheap all the way through and now an ATM charge? I don’t care how great they think their food or tortilla’s are, do I feel confident in their sanitary standards? No!!! The next day I see their tortillas at Villa Park market. Does anybody at Atotonlico think I’m going to buy their tortilla’s with how cheap and half-assed they run their restaurant? Do I really believe there are health and safety concerns on how they produce their commercial sales? Why yes, I do! What a disgusting mess of cheapness. I’m all about small business and doing what it takes to survive but my feeling is they are all about coin and nothing about safety and quality. Never, and I mean NEVER, will I trust my health to the hands of the folks flipping tortillas at this pool of cheapness!

Went their and order food through drive thru to find out they don’t take credit card. Than I order four pastor and three steak get charge 30.00 so I assumed it was correct. I get home which is 20 min away to find out I only have 5 steak tacos. I call to complain and get a really rude man who said he was a manager. I told him my order was wrong and in a smart voice he said well I don’t know what you order and this is third shift now. I said I know what order and it’s not right. He says what ever is in the bag is what you ordered if you don’t like it bring it back. Well nice customer service. If you are really a manager you need to take a class in how to talk to people. I never have a problem with food being bad but the way he handle this I will take my 30.00 for 5 taco’s to someone who know what customer service is.

I recently brought my wife and mother to this restaurant. We came from Los Angeles to visit family and we decided to have some tacos. After ordering our food, the owner came around to make sure everything was fine. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone locally and especially from out of town…

The best steak tacos and tortas! I would go out of my way to eat there again. Facilities are clean and service is very good. I highly recommend this place. For many years, I’ve gone to their original location on 26th street and love it. Keep up the good work guys!

Had to try it out since I moved into the area… big mistake. Took my mom for lunch and what a horrible experience. The food was super salty. Now my mom has high blood pressure as it is so as much as I hate doing this, I had to send the food back. When I told the server why I was sending it back, she said others have complained and that the owner has a certain amount of salt that he has them put in the food and that it wasn’t the fault of any of the cooks what a shame… I LOVE guacamole but when it’s THAT salty, no thanks !! Unfortunately that wasn’t the only thing that was salty, the steak, rice, and chips were also super salty ! Won’t ever be coming back here again…

There are many other more preferable taquerias in the area than this one. The food was bad and the food hardly warm when it came out to me. They serve rice in a cup for carryout.

The best tacos & burritos EVER! Just remember this place is cash only, but they have an ATM available, problem solved! Monday’s I suggest stopping by for the Burrito Jr Dinner Special. $ 5.99 get you a burrito almost full sized plus rice and beans. Every day they have a special… and all are great values and excellent portions. Best carne asada in town! My family eats here at least twice a week. The staff is always pleasant and you get your food quickly. You know a place is good when you see local cops dining there… this is the real deal!

VERY, VERY, VERY pleased with my meal here. We had some of the best chicken tacos I have had in a LONG time. The meat was seasoned great and very moist. The ownder(seemed like owner or manager) came over and gave us each an Al Pastor Taco. I have never tried that before, but it was GREAT! It is service like that which draws repeat customers. My only complaint would be RC products, just not a fan and that is my personal preference. Overall, check this place out

First things first… CASHONLY.(Really?! Even dollar stores take credit/debit cards now. ATM on site with a nice fee attached for the poor sucker who doesn’t carry cash.) Probably more like 3.5 star rating, but I’m gonna be generous since so many other people dogged them. This place is a new additional location from the«old neighborhood,» so my expectations were a little high. It’s not like the original on 26th street in Chicago, so let’s start there. I’ll go straight to my food ratings and wrap up with my thoughts… Torta de carne asada: B+(Good taste, but a little thin) Tacos Atotonilco: B(A little over seasoned and meat was chunky) Taco de carne asada: B+(simple but a tad too salty) Cebollitas: B–(Cooked well, but lacked seasoning) Aqua de horchata: D+(Tasted likes premix, drinkable but no bueno!) Rice: A(Seasoned well) Beans: A–(Seasoned well, but a tad bit dry) Service: C(average at best) Cleanliness: C(Not exactly a beacon of cleanliness) Variety of food: C(Typical) Freebies: C(Pickled jalepeños, carrots and limes — no chips and salsa) Location: D+(Stone Park — ’nuff said) All in all, we’d go back again. I will not order the horchata ever again — 2nd worst place I’ve had it of the ones we’ve had in the western suburbs(Pancho’s Fusion in Hillside is the worst!) Tacos, torta, rice and beans were good. Pretty good selection, but not my favorite Mexican place. If you have the time, and you are gutsy enough, go to the original. This is a good place if you’re not wanting to drive far for a decent bite.

Yikes! The reviews on here are brutal… honest but brutal! If you didn’t know, I love the Atotonilco on 26th( ), so I had to try this one. I was on my way to Comales and when I saw this place, I pulled right in. We sat and our waiter came with some menus. Five minutes later he came back and very impatiently took our order. Dude, you got somewhere to go?!! WTF? I ordered tacos de asada & pastor. The asada tacos were awesome, mind you I pretty much douse mine with their delicious salsa. The pastor tacos were good but they lacked the flavor of the one on 26th. Once we were finished, I went up to pay with our cards and saw the sign that said cash only. Ughhh, I agree with other Unilocalers as well, it’s 2015 and not everyone has cash. I can see the one on 26th accepting CASH only since that has been their policy since day one when credit cards didn’t exist but now a days? I don’t think so. You have the money to open up a new place, order a card reader for heaven’s sakes. It’s inconvenient and annoying when I go into a place not knowing it’s cash only. At least put a sign up at the front door! They do have an ATM machine though. Thankfully I didn’t have to use it, other people had cash. If I need my Atotonilco carne asada fix I might come back to this one, but I prefer the one on 26th.
