Fricold Heating & Cooling

Trusting, helpful and knowledgeable are what Fricold instills in their service to their customers. I have used them for 27 years maintaining, repairing and providing service to our heating system in our home. I have always found them to be on time and quick to serve our needs when we have had any trouble with our boiler. During our tenure in our home, Fricold had probably had serviced our old boiler 10 or 12 times, with routine maintenance, and replacement of parts. Recently we needed to replace our old boiler that was over 40+ years old, due to the fact that all of the insulation had deteriorated and replacing it was not cost effective. The new boiler was installed quickly and there was no dirt or damage done to anything in our home due to the removal of the old unit or the installation of the new system. The new system works great and although we had a minor problem initially when we turned on the heat for the first time, Javier came out the very next morning at 8am after I called at 6:45pm the previous evening and made the necessary adjustments to rectify the problem immediately. I trust that Javier has a vast knowledge of heating and cooling systems and he lets me know that if everything is not ok, I can contact him and he will make it ok. I have always been very comfortable with Fricold’s promise to fix our problems. I would recommend Fricold very highly and would not use anyone else to service our heating needs.

I decided to give these guys a try after reading another very encouraging review. I just needed my AC checked out and given a good cleaning and one of our thermostats was acting up.
Hugo Lopez, the technician (pleasant fellow), who came was very knowledgeable and thorough, offering some alternatives on a couple of minor issues, and GENTLY encouraging me to pay attention to changing my air filters. As far as the crapped out thermostat went he got around that problem with a jumper and had a replacement with him on the truck. I passed on that $ 120 one since I’m planning to upgrade to either Nest or Honeywell smart thermostats in downstairs, upstairs and in the garage. It’s been cool so I can use his jumper trick if I need to get things cooled off upstairs.
The price was reasonable for his 3 hours of work. I’ll be calling them again…

Love these guys for several reasons: 1, they put in a new furnace for us on the coldest day of 2013 — neat, efficient, fast despite our cramped furnace room. 2. They were the only company to even consider replacing our AC unit, which is on the pitched roof of our house. 3. They came out this week to correct a problem with the furnace — not only corrected it, but cleaned the burners and changed the batteries in the thermostat, for no charge b/​c our furnace was so recently installed. Again: Polite, fast, professional — I recommend them highly.

We have been using Fricold for about 2 – 3 years now and have been very pleased with their services.
We first found Fricold when our furnace broke a couple of winters ago. Another heating company in the area came out to look at it and told us that the furnace required a new part that was not available anywhere in the Chicagoland area. (which was just a lie to try to get us to buy a new furnace from them instead)
Wanting another opinion, we called Fricold. The serviceman came within the hour and fixed our furnace quickly, apparently having no problem finding the part needed. That furnace is still working fine today.
Since then, we have used Fricold for our regular HVAC cleaning and maintenance. In addition to providing good, honest services, they are always very courteous. They also take their shoes off (or put covers over their work shoes) before entering the house, which I appreciate.
