Weeyums Philly Style

One of the 2 places that I will get a cheesesteak in the Metro area. Call ahead, the wait can be long. Friendly service and good sandwiches. Carry-​out only.

Delicious cheesesteaks. Special sauce isn’t that special though, it’s just pizza sauce.

The best Philly ever! They don’t give you a 6′, they give you a 12′ full of meat and what ever you want. This is a must try place for everyone who loved Philly’s.

Food is always delicious. Wish the cook didn’t feel obligated to tell me about his «Hercules tongue».because that’s gross and I certainly didn’t ask.

OK. One of the few places worth getting Phillies at. Meat is excellent. Bread is excellent. All the toppings is excellent.
The only downside is no place to eat it. Have to get it to go. No way around it. BUT! So worth. My wife adds the mushrooms, but I just order it plain.

This is a place you shouldn’t miss when visiting historic Stone Mountain. If you’re from Philadelphia, or have frequented the area, this is not Pats or Gino’s. It is something entirely different, and uniquely Stone Mountain. It is Weeyums.
The experience of ordering there alone is something worth having — not as uniques as the Varsity of course. It’s a very small shop right on the corner and you most likely will have to wait a while for your food to be prepared and ready for you to take out. There is no dine-​in option.
I personally don’t care so much for the bread, so I tend to just eat the contents of the hoagie instead of eating it as a sandwich. However if you get a cheesesteak there’s plenty of filling for most people.

Weeyums is the best Philly Steak restaurant in Georgia nobody cant compare to them. I love they food they need a eat in restaurant its only carry out. But hey call in your order cuz its a wait cuz everybody love this spot staff friendly its good

Decent Philly cheese. Located not too far from the historic downtown main street of Stone Mountain, this restaurant is a nice option in a town seemingly devoid of unique cuisine. We were staying at a Stone Mountain Marriott resort and I was not about to pay cash money for insipid hotel food.
So we made the drive on the long roads of the park and onto 78 to get to Stone Mountain the town. Chains chains chains. I get it, it’s a small town, not Buckhead. Almost nothing but your normal fast food places. Well, that’s no fun, and of the independent options Weeyum’s seemed the most popular on Unilocal and closest in line with our cravings.
I 100% suggest YOU SHOULD CALL IN YOUR ORDER. We called in on a Saturday night and were told it would be ready about 35 – 45 minutes later (a little bummed about that). Well, when we got there it still wasn’t ready for another 8 or 10 minutes. I am not super familiar in the area. It was pitch black in the small off-​street parking lot while we waited for our sandwiches and frankly it felt a little sketchy after dark, but I wouldn’t have a problem visiting during the day and if I knew the area better I could make the judgment about actual safety at night. However, there was a security guard keeping watch over the restaurant (may have added to the unsafe vibe I got, ironically, despite making it probably safer).
The Phillys are good, but honestly not exceptional. One of the best «authentic» Phillys I’ve had was in St. Augustine, Florida at a place called South-​a-​Philly: had cheese whiz topping, the whole nine yards. This is a good sandwich, but frankly to me it felt for like a steak and cheese sandwich rather than an authentic Philly. It kind of reminded me of a (much) higher quality version of the steak & cheese sandwich at Subway. Finely minced beef with cheese and by default mayo and onion. I left off the mayo and added green peppers ($.35 a topping, which is a little irritating to me but I get they have to make a living),
The large-​size philly is VERY big. If you try to eat it all like I did you will be VERY full. I suggest that two normal-​sized people could easily split a large, though I’m not sure how that pricing compares to getting two regulars. As a side we ordered a family portion of the cheese fries. They tasted pretty good, but they were basically frozen crinkle-​cut fries topped with cheese product. I could make that at home and have it come out the same.
It was a little above $ 20 for two regular sized Phillys with green peppers added and a large cheese fry. Price is not bad. Would I return if in Stone Mountain? Sure — there’s a couple of other eateries there that caught my eye (Caribbean/​Jamaican food) but given the selection in the city I would definitely try again.

I called my order in at 1:30. I was told that it’d be ready in 40 minutes. I arrived at 2:20 and of course my order wasn’t ready. The man at the register told me it’d be 15 more minutes. Fine. I went in the car and waited. Came back 20 minutes later and guess what? My food still wasn’t ready. Stood there for another 15 minutes before I received my food, which was cold. Never coming back here again.

The food is delicious however the young lady that answer the phone is very rude

Went here for the first time last week with my wife. Heard many good things. It’s small catering mainly to take-​out orders, so be aware not much seating. We ordered and the staff was helpful and courteous. Quite a few call-​in orders were ahead of us, so calling in seems to be preferred to beat the longer waiting times as it’s a popular destination!
Our food came out in about 15 minutes, hot and delicious! Super good Philly and good crinkle cut fries. For sure among the very best Philly’s I have ever had. Wife and I agreed we loved it and will come again!

Love the philly cheese sandwiches here although I often opt for the hoagie style since it comes with lettuce and tomatoes so you can pretend that it’s healthier. I don’t really remember what a true Philly cheesesteak tastes like but I’ve had plenty of cheesesteaks from various cities and places and this is pretty good. The only thing I don’t like is that the sandwich gets kind of soggy but this could be my fault because I never really have a chance to eat it right away.
The shop is located just outside of Stone Mountain. They have a lot with sufficient parking but it can still be hard to find a spot on Saturdays. They have a couple of tables outside it they don’t look very inviting so I would say this is more of a take-​out place. The biggest caveat I have about weeyums is the crazy wait for your food. On a slow day, be prepared for a 30 minute wait. On a busy day, the wait can span from 45 mins to 2 hours. They are good about warning about the wait on the phone BUT they don’t tell walk-​in folks (and it is not faster if you are there). I was really upset when I waited nearly an hour for my food the first time I went. It really is the yummy sandwiches that kept me coming back.

Shockingly disappointed, I thought I’d give this place a try by the reviews but this isn’t the best. First let me say be prepared to wait at least 15mins that’s if their not busy. A bit pricy I might add they charge for every side item including sauce. My bun was EXTREAMLY soggy and my fries were stale with wayyyy too much seasoning salt. But besides that my sandwich was ok

I feel kinda ashamed… because as often as i’ve visited stone mountain park, and the fact that I lived in stone mountain for years, that I only JUST found out about Weeyums in 2015. I corrected that mistake and went in to place an order.
When you step in the first thing you’ll notice is there’s no tables for sitting. Nope, get your food and go! The second thing you’ll notice is the really cool artwork all over their walls and counters, but before any of that, it’s the smell that will get your mouth watering immediately.
I ordered their cheese steak ($ 7), a footlong of amazing steak, onion and mayo, with bread that doesn’t at all get soggy. I also got a side order of fries with season salt. Right from the first bite, the flavor just put a huge smile on your face… the cheese was flavorful, the meat steak was tender, and the bread held together. My only complaint is I wish there were more onions, and I should’ve asked for some peppers. Otherwise, top notch! The fries were crinkle cut and also easily devoured.
In addition to the cheese steaks, Weeyums serves burgers, wings, Hoagies and even veggie steaks, so come one come all.
They cook everything to order, so expect at least a 10 minute wait, but that’s okay, they’ve got pac-​man in here, as long as you have a quarter to play it! Okay, okay, there’s a tv in there as well.
Very small store with very BIG flavor right in the heart of Stone mountain, that you’d be silly to pass up. GO! Now!

So, my quest for the best «Philly» Cheesesteak in ATL continues at Weeyum’s. Just thinking about it makes me salivate because I grew up on Cheesesteaks – the REAL ones from South Philly. Which, by the way we just call it a «cheesesteak». Anyway, after being away from the Northeast for over a decade, I have sought out numerous restaurants claiming to make the best interpretation of the Philly Cheesesteak. And, I’ve come to understand how difficult it can be to duplicate this much beloved sandwich.
Then, I found Weeyum’s…thanks to my wonderful fellow Unilocalers! You’ve probably already noticed, but let’s just get it out of the way… this place is a «hole in the wall», but No Shade :-). Here’s what you should know:
*Parking is tight… I circled the block and a space opened up thankfully.
*Order ahead if possible… I saw this tip on Unilocal and its absolutely true. I called ahead 20 minutes and my food was being bagged up when I arrived.
*The cheesesteak itself is a great representation of Philly’s:
–Greasy, cheesy and meaty. Yes!
–They got the Bread right… which some will argue is key to authenticity. FYI, the Amoroso roll is crusty on the outside and fluffy inside. Yes!
–The meat is finely chopped and tender, as it should be. Yes!
–The cheese is a choice of American or Provolone (no Whiz, which is popular in Philly, but so is provolone). Unless, you specify, you’ll get American.
–Also, your cheesesteak will come with onions and mayo unless you specify otherwise.
As information, they also have mushroom cheesesteaks, cheesesteak hoagies and various pepper toppings, but if you’re wanting to be a purist… try the cheesesteak with the onions only and see what you think. Lastly, consider getting a season pass to Stone Mountain Park and hike the mountain to burn off the 2000 calories you just ate LOL… Happy eating!

I’ve been coming to Weeyums since I first moved to Georgia in 2010. Being from up north (so close to Philly), I’ve had some great cheesesteaks! Weeyums has become one of my favorite places for cheesesteaks, fried whiting (fish) and cheese fries. I used to live in Stone Mountain but I still make the ¹⁵⁄₂₀ minute drive for my favorite place!
Now, there isn’t anywhere to eat unless you want to eat in your lap. There aren’t any tables. The place used to be EXTREMELY basic. Now, it’s just basic. LOL. They’ve painted the wall and added some color which gives Weeyums a little bit of POP.
The cheesesteaks are basic — but they don’t need anything more than the salt/​pepper, mayo and onions. You can get olives, mushrooms, etc at will. I like my simple and plain. They don’t even need ketchup! (and KETCHUP — I put that SH*T on everything). They cheese fries come with the dipping cheese that I absolutely love.
I tried their fried fish recently. The whiting was awesome sauce! Fried well and has fries and 2 pieces of bread. All for $ 5! I will definitely get this again. (Not better than the cheesesteak but definitely almost just as good).
There is a wait because they make everything fresh to order, so I recommend that if you know what you want — call ahead and order. We were there about 30 minutes before we got our food. Combine this with having to drive home — I wasn’t too happy but I already knew what I was getting myself into so I could barely make it past my kitchen to the dining room to eat the delicious goodness!

I rarely ever update my reviews unless there is truly something new worth saying. Well, since I wrote my original review for Weeyums almost three years ago I’ve traveled all over the city in search of a great cheesesteak. I’ve even been to Philadelphia in that time and experienced this delight from the home of cheesesteaks. Although I still have a few more places to visit here in Atlanta, I’ve tried better that 12 different restaurants claiming to have amazing Philly’s. Some I’ve reviewed while others I didn’t even bother. Today I boldly claim the search is over.
I’ve been comparing every cheesesteak I’ve tasted in these past three years to Weeyums and none have come close. My latest attempt to top Weeyums was @ Fred’s Meat & Bread in the Krog Street Market, a really trendy food haven in the heart of Atlanta’s Inman Park. OMG this place is really cool, but I paid $ 14 (before tax) for a cheesesteak that I did not enjoy (see review:
). Add fries, a drink and taxes and my bill easily topped $ 21.
Well, since Fred’s didn’t satisfy my cheesesteak craving, I traveled over to Weeyums the following day to see if the food here was as good as I remembered from my 2012 visit. I’m so pleased to say that for $ 10.81 (tax included), I had a delicious meal that INCLUDED fries and a drink! That’s half the price I paid @ Fred’s for twice the flavor.
NOTE; I should also mention Fred’s is owned and operated by acclaimed chef Todd Ginsberg while Weeyums is a mom and pop hole-​in-​the-​wall (I say that with great affection for hole-​in-​the-​walls) run by Philadelphia transplants.
FINAL THOUGHTS
It’s official. I’m claiming Weeyums to be the best cheesesteak in metro Atlanta, period.
