I give this Braiding Salon ZEROSTARS! I was a brand new customer this past Friday and had the WORST braiding experience ever! The owner and her staff are reckless and careless with their clients hair and I have the blisters in my scalp and the swelling in my face to prove it. They argue in French loudly about you… right in front of you… They nickel and dime you for every possible service… They don’t RESPECT their clients. I came in for Senegalese Twists and was advised to have the owner Bintou to do my hair… She told me that she didn’t do those type of braids anymore but her second best braider Alima… Did… Once I got to my appointment they argued about the length of my hair… They both advised that single braids would be a better option… Fine… Then Bintou says… But I don’t do those either… Bottom line… Alima was ticked off at Bintou and took it out on my scalp! Six hours… And while the braids were beautiful… I was in AGONY for two days before having to take them out! The blisters are EVERYWHERE in my head! I called Bintou and told her about the pain… This Broad had the gall to tell me… We don’t give refunds… You should have left the braids in and come back to me… We could have worked something out? Like what? Total alopecia all over my head? No Thanks! I told Bintou several times… I am extremely tender headed in my crown and temple areas… Everywhere else… I’m good to go… But please tell them… Since you seem to not want to do my hair… That they have to be patient and gentle with my crown and temple areas… She claimed she relayed the message… I call BS. I call BS on pissing that lady off and turning her loose in my scalp! I came in that shop with a head full of healthy hair and a healthy scalp! I’ve been to the ER and my Primary Care Physician… Both have said the braids caused severe damage to my scalp… Because of the infected hair follicles on my scalp… My eyes, cheeks and face was so swollen from the fluid trying to soothe my scalp… I’ve looked deformed and almost lost the vision in my right eye from the pressure… All of this from braids right? All of this from greedy people who bragged on their technique that was sure to make me happy… Happy? Try more like in Hell! I hope someone reads this review and sees the pictures and runs the other direction from these Wannabe professional braiders! I had my hair braided for two years at SE Hair Braiding in Nashville, TN and I NEVER had any problems with my styles or my scalp! I’d rather drive four hours to Nashville then to EVER let these women put their hands in my hair again! I’m telling EVERYONE Know… Don’t use these people! Find people who care about your hair and can have a consultation with you about what you should expect. Better yet… Read the reviews of every salon you try… BELIEVE the reviewer when they tell you… Bintou Salon is CRAP! Like I said… I have the blisters to prove it!

BEWAREWOMENSTAYAWAY!!! I know it’s long but please read!!! I am writing this post after I got my hair done at Bintou’s African Hair Braiding on memorial drive. I went in this past Friday and got mid-size waist length braids. I have a cute short hair cut that is shorter on the sides but ear length in the front, top and middle with the lower back of my head shaved low. Now I have been to this place before for braids and the the braids were very cute. At this time I had a nice bob hair style But they braided my hair extremely tight and once the braids were removed a month later I had two finger length of bald spots and broken hair around the entire perimeter of my hairline. And the top was broken off extremely bad. I ended up having to cut my hair shorter and I wore wigs for 8 months until it grew back. Well I went back to them again because I felt well this time I was going to control the situation by asking them not to braid my hair tight and I took the comb and combed the hair down that I did not want braided. I left out my edges and the back and told them braid everything inside of the part around my head and leave the rest out I will slick it down. Well they wouldn’t listen to me the entire time I kept saying some of the braids were too tight and I asked Bintou’s daughter MIMI(one of the three women braiding my hair to remove the ones that were too tight. She refused by telling me to ask one of the other ladies so I asked for scissors and cut them out myself. The entire time I kept letting them know when it was too tight. As they kept Saying okay but didn’t do as I asked. A part of me believes that they were braiding it tight as they could on purpose because all of the braids were made so tight that I couldn’t even turn the braids in any direction without feeling so much pain I was about to pass out . The braids were so tight that an 800mg ibuprofen would not help my throbbing head. After looking through the braids I saw places where the braids were so tight my skin was bunched together and around the front it was so tight you can see my hair holding on for dear life. When I tried to go to bed later that night I couldn’t because my hair was killing me so I ended up removing all of the braids, because this time I was not going to sacrifice my hair again at this place for beauty. I say all this to say ladies don’t go here, the women are rude and refuse to listen to how you want your hair. And if you tell them you don’t like something or to correct it they argue with you. I sat there and watched them piss off one client for not following her directions and have a tiff with another when she said her goddess braids weren’t centered and didn’t look how she wanted them to. These women don’t care about your hair either I believe their goal is to break your hair. Bintou and another woman in the shop have no edges this is why they are now wearing wigs. They do make the braids look nice but you will be left bald and with broken hair once the braids are removed.

Was charged more than told. I was only supposed to be charged 75 for a touch up. On their site a touch up means they will take it down and redo for 75.(Don’t believe it). When I showed them the site in the store she says it’s only to replace some braids. But that’s not what their site says. The site also says they accept debit or cash. Was not told only cash until later. Won’t return!!!

They suck. Very unprofessional with nasty attitudes. In short. Went twice to get my hair right after the original appointment. Bintou explained the redo was a courtesy but told me I should give her something. I got pissed because if you screwed my hair up the first 2 times why should I pay more for what you didn’t get right the first time. Please do yourself a favor and don’t let these ppl do your hair. It’s one thing to mess up but the nasty attitude even after I did give you more money is bullshit. Now let me Fb and Google this.

I never write reviews but my experience here at this shop needs to be known to the unsuspecting like myself. I don’t mind taking accountability for my part of even considering getting my hair done, although everything in me was screaming«NO!» I asked for individual braids and that’s what I got. The problem was that the two«individuals» who were braiding my hair apparently have different perspectives of what individual braids are. One side of my head was tolerable while the other side was just freaking awful. After a week and one missing braid later, I decided to go back to get it taken out. I was very disappointed. The stylists who were there took turns looking at my hair and came to the conclusion that there coworker(she wasn’t there) did a bad job and extended an offer to me of not having to pay for the takedown of my braids. Ok, I was good with that. It wasn’t until Bintou and her daughter took over the task of taking my hair down that the problem began. They cut some of my REAL hair in the process of taking the braids out and combed out the rest with the worst combs in history. The constant yanking and pulling and the cutting resulted in my hair being 3 – 4 inches shorter than what it was the WEEK before and thinned out. My hair was healthy and I had just received a treatment and trim of my split ends two weeks prior to going to this shop. Also my hair was past my shoulders. Now it is damaged and above my shoulders on one side and right at my shoulders on the other side. My family and friends keep asking me why I’d cut my hair. I’ve never had these issues before with past takedowns and on top of that, I am natural. Had I not been, the damage could have been worst. Never again…
