A good bike shop it seems is hard to find in my area… At least in regards to my experiences with a prominent ‘long time established’ shop of such in The Wildwoods. After a number of disappointing experiences with the aforementioned place, I through happenstance, discovered Harbor Bike & Beach Shop last April after suffering a flat tire during an extended bike ride from Wildwood to Sea Isle City. A good samaritan offered to give me a lift into Stone Harbor where I was heading to and recommended Harbor Bike & Beach Shop to repair my tire. With minutes before closing, not only did they willingly tend to my matter but did so quickly, capably, and courteously. I was genuinely impressed. Fast forward several months to the present. Over the summer after purchasing a replacement back wheel for my bike from«The big ‘K’ Shop» in The Wildwoods, I suffered a minor yet obscure issue relating to the wheel purchased there. A securing lock for the bike cartridge {a simple part} somehow came loose and needed replacing. Owing to some mismatching factors, a new part was not available and needed to be ordered. Fine, I am accustomed to having wait with«K» for such matters in the past and wait I did. 4 days later, I contacted«K» to see if my part had arrived and was told it did not. I asked if they had my proper contact information which they did and was duly told I would be called when the part came in. After more than 2 weeks, I gave up on «K» never having heard from them for what should have been a simple matter. I then looked up Harbor Bike & Beach Shop to see if they were still open for business in ‘the off season’ here and found out they were. With less than an hour before their closing, not only did they have my custom part, but fixed my issue in its entirety and did so for only $ 7.49. Needless to say, Harbor Bike & Beach Shop will be my ‘go to’ place for all of my business in these matters from here on out when I am ‘local’. Great service, prices, and competent!

Mike customized my sport hybrid bike for me so that I would enjoy it more while cycling at the beach. He had the mechanic change out my handle bars to resemble the kind usually found on a beach bike which raised it about 4 inches. I no longer have to lean over and put stress on my lower back. The bike was ready the very next morning as promised and upon picking up the bike, Mike offered to make final adjustments as I sat on the bike. The new bars and the extended brake cables work great and make a world of difference. Mike is extremely knowledgeable and offered excellent customer service. The cost of the service was very reasonable. Highly recommended!

Stone Harbor is the best place to bike and Harbor Bike and Beach Shop could not be any nicer. I am always greeted by friendly people and I am almost never told they do not have a bike for me. They rent, sell, and fix quality bikes and if you have a problem with your bike they are more than happy to fix it, or trade the bike out. They also supply helmets, and locks to lock up your bikes, which is extremely helpful when parking our bikes for the night at our hotel. I love Harbor Bike & Beach Shop.

In honor of summer, my boyfriend and I decided to do a 24-hour rental for a tandem bicycle. Adorable, right? Wrong. A few blocks away from the shop, I realized that my seat on the bike was loose and would twist anytime we made a sharp turn. When my boyfriend tried to tighten it, a cheap plastic part broke off and made the problem much worse. The seats were very uncomfortable as well. By the time we went back to the shop to address these things, it was closed. To make matters worse, when we attempted our first gear shift, the chain got completely tangled up in the pedals somehow; I didn’t even realize this was possible. We stopped to fix the mess, both of us getting completely covered in grease in the process. Luckily, a nice stranger offered to let us use his hose to rinse off. Needless to say, we showed up to family dinner rather disgruntled. To be fair, the man who rented the bike to us was very funny and nice. Unfortunately, this is a review for a bike rental shop – and our experience with the bike was terrible. Warning: Do not rent a tandem bicycle unless you are looking to get dumped or divorced! It’s a good thing my boyfriend and I were able to laugh this whole thing off. So much for romance!

I have been dealing with Bob and Jean and the crew at Stone Harbor Bike Shop for years. I have purchased probably six bikes from them in 15 years .They will take bike trade ins– ask how many shops do that. Always professional and good service. When I had brake problems with a new Cannondale bike I purchased from them, it was fixed immediately and at no cost. Stone Harbor Bike and Beach is the Willy Wonka of Bike shops– you will find everything from cycling clothing to Whites metal detectors to the newest gadgets. Now if they could only paint my Cannondale in dark chocolate, sprinkles of sea salt and red chilies…

This bike shop is shockingly rude. They make you feel bad about asking the simplest questions. I also think their advice was poor and they covered up for it by being arrogant. I would avoid this place at all costs. It does not at all fit with the friendly aura of Stone Harbor.

wow, I am suprised by the ratings on here, I was just down at Stone Harbor and found the place to be very nice. I rented a tandem for 24 hours, they showed me how to work it, adjusted the seats, told me to come back if I had any issues… I found them very helpful…

I am a long time summer resident of Stone Harbor. Unfortunately, when I went to Harbor Bike and Beach last week for the first time(to rent bikes for family staying with me during the holiday week), I found the staff to be incredibly rude. After an unpleasant encounter with a yound man named Lou, I left and went to Hollywood Bikes in Avalon instead.

As a stone harbor semi-resident for many years, I have used Harbor Bike & Beach Shop a number of times. My family has purchased several bikes from them over the years, rented bikes, surreys, etc. The people there are very friendly and their rentals are always solid. I recently purchased a road bike(my first serious bike) there. I was happy that they had what I wanted in stock and for a seemingly marked down price. They were pretty pleased to sell it to me quickly, I think the whole transaction took only a few hours. I didn’t get any help fitting the bike or adjusting the seat, handlebars, etc. When I got home I found the bike was actually a 2001 model year, and the tires to be badly dry rotted. I took the bike back and asked if that was normal; to sell an older model(no disclosure of how old it was was made to me at the time of sale other than an informed salesperson saying«this isn’t this years model, probably a year or two old»). They replaced the tires, but insisted that it was still a pretty good deal for the bike that I bought(It wasn’t really) Meh.
