LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! This Store and Mike!!! I have taken all four of my children(15, 9, 3,1)to Mike at Stride Rite to have them sized and fitted for their first walking shoes, school shoes and Salt Waters every year! I recently moved to Modesto and still drove to Stockton to have Mike measure my one year old for his first pair of walking shoes. I will continue to be a loyal customer, the experience is worth the drive. If you are looking for that feel good small business, with people(Especially Mike) that know you by name, the place that will laugh and enjoy the mile stones of your baby walking or smile at your picky teen trying on every color of Salt Waters, just to get just the right color, THISISTHEPLACEFORYOU!!!

I sometimes buy my son shoes here but im definetly not a fan of their service. They really arn’t helpful or kid friendly. I remember this store as a child and I loved going there. They had an awesome tree hide out in the corner built into the wall and it was magical! Now its, «please don’t jump, please don’t stand on the chair(which my son was standing on the bench to pick a shoe he liked), please stand straight etc. My son is very well behaved but hes still a kid. What to they expect??? We ended up getting him a pair of $ 52 tennis shoes, which for the price i would expect better service:/ And im not impressed on the selection. So basically if i can find it somewhere else i will. If not i’ll look there.

Michael, the owner, takes shoes seriously. He wants to ensure a correct fit, and takes time and care to ensure this. He does get impatient with active kids, and my kids always get antsy while waiting for service there. The store is often busy, and my only real complaint is that they always bring out several boxes of shoes for the kids. I have even tried saying, «Just this style, please,» and we still get a stack of choices. However, I do understand the power of suggestive sales. We’ve been using Stride Rite for 8 years, and will continue shopping there.

I purchased a pair of UGG boots for my girlfriend for Christmas. Once she got them she tried them on and wore them around the house and what not, she decided that for what they cost, they were not worth the price. So my girlfriend went to return them. She was helped by a guy named Michael, who proceeded to tell her that they wouldn’t return them because they did not have the glossy finish on the very bottom of the boot. AREYOUKIDDINGME!!! The boots were worn for less then one full hour and there was not a speck of dust or dirt on them. I told him that they didn’t look one bit different then the ones on the shelf he has for sale and he said well that is your opinion. I then asked him to tell me where on the boots appears worn, he then said that in the condition they are in he would not be able To re sell them. Keep in mind I bought the boots 3 days before this and literally had not been worn more then an hour. Of course the manager is conveniently on vacation at this time and won’t be back for about two weeks. BS. Probably won’t be seeing a penny of my $ 177 dollars back. LONGSTORYSHORT, DON’T SHOPHEREANDIF U DOBETTERHOPE U DON’T NEED A REFUNDBECAUSE U WON’T BEGETTINGONE. I will NEVER shop at a stride rite again

Ok I thought it was just me. The salesman was for a better word, interesting. Kind of an old AA guy who doesn’t seem to understand little kids, lecturing under his breath and huffing and puffing a bit. I’ll give him a bit of slack bc he seems burnt out and something is wrong with him-he moves like he’s got chronic pain. I’m giving the store a 2⁄5 because of him and the fact that the store didn’t carry any of the colors we wanted. Thank you Michael(apparently that’s his name, he doesn’t wear a name tag) you’ve helped me realize that buying online is a great option so I don’t give people like you commission. Another important note: they accept Mastercard and Visa, not AMEX.

I’m only giving 3 stars because i was able to find shoes for my sons wide feet. I agree with another Unilocal-er that Michael is very annoying! The guy would just not shut up! I couldn’t wait to leave.
