FYI, this place has a sign that it’s been closed since January 2016 due to a family emergency, it will remain closed till further notice :(We attempted to go in April of 2016 so it’s been closed for a while now. One star rating is because we were sure looking forward to the fried chicken.

Came to try as it shows open but there is a note on the door saying Closed due to a family emergency. Dared January 16, 2016! No clue when it will re-open but hopefully people read this before heading here from out of town, like we did.

Decent home-cooking/soul food in a place where options are limited. Exceedingly friendly service. The greens are to die for.

Ordered catering service for a Veterans Appreciation Day luncheon. Betty coordinated a menu that was within my budget. Boy, she went above and beyond. Not only did she have the food available at the scheduled pick up time, but she also had boxes for easy transport. The food was a hit! The veterans were overjoyed by the lunch. The bbq was soooooooooooooo tender and falling off the bone. The green beans and macaroni and cheese was mouth watering and tasty. I am picky about my potato salad and Betty’s potato salad was great! I was honored to have met Betty. Made me feel like part of the family. Thanks to S&B Home Cooking for making my Veterans Appreciation Day luncheon a SUCCESS with their awesome home cooked soul food!

My grand daughter recommended this restaurant off of the internet to my wife and i, the waitress said she didn’t have Barbecue when clearly Barbecue chicken is on the internet menu, The vibes and the atmosphere was hostile, the restaurant appeared dingy and unclean, While smiling I thanked the waitress and we left the premises! Sincerely, Fonzo Nelson.

Our waitress was sweet the décor was homey surprising because of location I’m having the fried chicken, white meat with mustard greens and green beans with a cold beer to wash it down. Tracy and the food will be the reason this will be our soul food spot she’s great.

Probably the best friend chicken I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The owner makes you feel like you’ve come home to grandma and she can tell you haven’t eaten in a while. Awesome cornbread muffins and potato salad. I happen to never be in this area but next time I am I’m stopping here.

Tracy gets a star for being amazing and the smothered pork chops and fried cat fish were tasty so there’s star number 2… I was dissatisfied with the rest of my meal. The greens tasted like they’re canned and were actually dry, the mac and cheese is mac and butter with pepper, the mashed potatoes tasted like powdered sink water, the corn muffins were dry and i had to re-season most of it… it was $ 30 wasted. Not to mention the owners weren’t so nice. Just Tracy. Bless her shes often. I’m sure the food was great once but it seems the economy has claimed another victim. I wish them the best.

You know, it was about time I had me some soul food, here in the 209. I would like to say that the location was convenient for me not too far from home and the neighborhood dandy. Tracy our waitress, was very kind and funny, although I found her to be quite eccentric. Nevertheless, she did her job well and got our orders memorized. The food was really good, except I would of liked bigger portions on the sides I felt like they were following with my diet lmao how did they know? Lol oh well next time I order double. By the way, the family here was friendly to me and my family guys.

So the four stars is for the chicken. There’s nothing perfect in life so no five stars. However, the fried chicken I received was just great! Juicy throughout and well cooked. A nice golden brown crisp skin and nice crunch. If you’re looking for good home style fried chicken, come by. Yams were pretty good too. However, the Mac and cheese was not on point. Lacked the hearty cheesy feel I usually expect with soulful Mac and cheese and the noodles were small. That recipe needs work. But that’s just my opinion. If you want to try the food but not stick around, order ahead for pick up.

This was our favorite restaurant while we had brief stint in Stockton before moving back to the land of milk and honey, Bay Area. We love this place and it’s food. We got to know Ms. Betty and her daughter Tracy. They both are nice and wonderful people once you get to know them. If you had a bad experience here, give it another try.

I should have listened to Danielle. Let me start by saying the hostess, Tracy was extremely hospitable and nice. The review is based on the food alone. The cornbread biscuit to start was pretty good slathered in honey and butter. Then came the meal with fried chicken, fried catfish and for the sides, what I hesitate to call mac and cheese + fried okra. The chicken was pretty decent, catfish was nice crispy and moist inside but it tasted like its been sitting in the freezer for a minute. It almost had a mildew-ish flavor to it. The mac and cheese had little, if any cheese in it. Butter and pepper is all I tasted, very bland. The fried okra was mushy and not crispy at all. I’ve been to many soul/southern dives & this one does not reflect pride or tradition in their cooking. I hope they take these reviews into consideration & change a few things cause good people do run this place.

Tried S&B for the first time today because of all the great reviews. S&B definitely lived up to the reviews. From the cornbread to the ribs, chicken, black eyed peas, and fried okra, it was all delicious. I wanted to try the peach cobbler after the reviews but I ate so much food I just couldn’t fit it in. Next time I guess. I only write a review if a place is really bad our really good. S&B is really good and I’d give them more stars if I could. Go there if you ever get the chance.

Fun, friendly place. Yup, once inside you would think you were in the deep south! Chicken was good. hot and crispy. Black eyed peas were good. Mac and cheese… not a fan. kind of different. had real cheese mixed in. It caught me by surprise. Pork ribs were on the dry side… slathered with decent bbq sauce. Not my favorite. Once you had Texas Roadhouse ribs, you tend to compare all ribs to theirs. Sweetened iced tea… good. Had a complex honey sweet flavor. Corn bread… meh. My ‘two meat’ dinner was $ 17.50 Tracy is a hoot! Loved her. Very efficient server. Enjoyed talking to her. I will probably go back and try something else… maybe the cat fish… or meatloaf. Try a different side dish. Between here and their previous location in San Mateo, they have been serving up bbq for over 20 years! Kudos to Tracy’s mom, Betty… the cook!
