This is by far my favorite Chinese restaurant. My family has been regulars since they opened in 1978. The staff are friendly and know people by name. They are a casual environment, though they present a very clean and upscale establishment. The menu changes with the season somewhat, so you can get their favored dishes when you want them, but they present some variety as well. They present with a family atmosphere. We have taken our kids and they were very accommodating. Often the staff will stay and talk to you if they have time. Their house chicken is what I consider to be the gold standard to which I compare other orange/house chicken dishes to. Whether you are looking for a nice lunch during working hours or a pleasant dinner, this is the place.

My cousin and I came to Yen Ching because our regular restaurant, Yen Du, was closed for remodeling. The first time we went in, the food and service was good. After our third visit, the service was AWFUL. Our waitress stood uncomfortably close the entire time we were there. She came back too frequently and we felt like she was staring at us the whole time we were eating. She interrupted our conversations multiple times just to pour my soda for me when I honestly could have done it myself, and take plates away without even asking if we were finished with them. At the end, my cousin paid our tab with a credit card and after she signed it, the waitress stayed at our table and asked if she was going to tip on the credit card or in cash. She pressured her into tipping before we were even done having our conversation and before we were even ready to leave the restaurant. I felt that was a rude gesture as a waitress, so my cousin and I left our tip and left right away. We will never be coming back here, as the service was a nuisance to our ritual lunch date. We will to wait until Yen Du opens up again. I recommend Yen Du as a better option than this place. Service wise and taste wise.

The best in this area. We drive from Manteca just to have descent chinese food. My kids love it(and they are very picky) :D We get the usual fried rice, chow mein, chow fun, beef broccoli. Service is quick also which I love since my kids are very impatient when it comes to food. Fried Prawn were my favorite!

The food was very good, my nephew and I ordered the mandarin dinner for 2. Sweet & Sour Pork, Almond Chicken, Won Ton soup with shrimp, steamed white Rice. Sweet &Sour Pork had just the right tang and crunch, good balance, The Almond Chicken was the best I’ve had, tasty gravy and tender chicken pieces. Won Ton soup great broth with veggies and tasty steamed Won Ton rolls with Bay shrimp. The only snag was when I received the bill(not itemized) it came to a flat $ 29.00, we had water with the meal, and the dinner was listed as $ 25.00. even with tax it shouldn’t have added up to $ 29.00. I asked the waitress if she’d charged us for the water? She said«Oh No» I asked about the discrepancy and she cheerfully adjusted it to a flat $ 27.00. She was a good server, and the food was delicious, but I would recommend that they itemize things in the future with a register to insure proper billing.

We were looking for authentic Cantonese or traditional Chinese food, but this would more closely fit Westernized Chinese. However, It is good, and the service was prompt, friendly and attentive.

I haven’t found better Chinese in Stockton. The lunch special comes with the entrée, rice, fried wontons, and a soup. And is all very well prepared for under 8 dollars. The woman working there is incredibly nice and has always made my experience very positive and welcoming. Check this place out

The food was decent. The young gentleman was emotionless and uncaring when I told him it was really cold. He told me that’s a Manager thing. So I said can you tell the manager it’s freezing in here. I ordered hot and spicy noodle soup. It was okay. Calamari was very fishy tasting. Never a good sign. I asked if I could have fried won ton with sweet sauce on it like everyone else had… He literally talked me out of it. Saying I would have to be charged for 12 pieces… when everyone else was getting it free. He was terrible customer service. He’s either too young or his family is forcing him to work here. I won’t be back.

Pretty average chinese food. Went on a Monday and the food seemed old(Friday’s left overs?). Not the best flavor. Potstickers had no flavor, mongolian beef tasted bland. Waitress was friendly at first, average during the meal, giving us a looks, and after we paid our bill, she ignored us. I’ve been here a few times, I thought it used to be better. I don’t think I’ll come back.

I really like the food served at this resturant. It is always on point and delicious. The service can be a little lacking. I also do not like the fact that they do not serve soda out of a fountain. No many places charge for refills anymore, and to be drinking soda out of a can poured in a glass. I also did not like that on their dinner options you cannot substitute anything, not even the side dishes or even for an extra charge.

Food — Delicious! Not Greasy like most Chinese Joints Décor — felt like I was in a Rush Hour scene lol Location — In the trader joes and Safeway center which is good Service — Amazing!!! It was great in comparison to other restaurants but what really astonish me is how good of a service it is for an Asian joint!

This is a pretty standard Chinese Restaurant. It’s not that big of a space but it is well decorated and they do a good job of creating the illusion of privacy with fung shui partitions. The service was fine but the waiter made us uncomfortable standing at attention near our table awaiting our beck and call. I know that sounds like a silly thing to say in a negative way… I appreciate it when a server pays attention… however, I don’t want to feel like I can’t have a conversation with my family because a stranger is standing there listening to me. It’s the first time I have had a waiter who was over-attentive. I didn’t even know that was possible until this place. The flavors were standard. Nothing phenomenal, nothing inedible. We liked the sizzling rice dish, but we usually do. The family dinner for 3 was plenty of food for all 3 of us and the price was fine. I might go back for happy hour if I was in the area.

Took my son here last night for dinner. When I was paying I took $ out of my purse, paid the bill and left a tip and put $ 40 back in my purse. The waitress was standing on my side and out of the corner of my eye I saw her take the $ 40 out of my purse and put it in her pocket. I immediately looked in my purse saw the $ was gone and said give me my $ back. She said no you lost it. When I got louder she started crawling on the floor and put the $ in my sons pocket. She tells my son to stand up, the $ falls out of the pocket and then she said see your son took it! My son was across the table and never got up and he’s only 5. I took the $ and walked out! I’ll never be back here! They never apologized or anything!

Our favorite Chinese restaurant so far in Stockton We love to order for delivery. They’re fast and courteous and the food is always good. They even accommodate special requests(we prefer the non-breaded chicken in our sweet and sour). We’ve been ordering our Chinese from here now for a little over two years and never been disappointed.

located in the back corner of the shopping center between rite aid and trader joes. friendly service. good portions for the price. pork w green onions was pretty standard. pork was tender and flavorful. walnut shrimp was a little too mayonaissey for me. but, it was lightly breaded and the shrimp was fresh. xia long bao was a little different. it was the small variety with the pot sticker wrappers. thick outside, lots of flavorful meat on the inside. not a lot of juice, which im not used to.

Food is okay. Restaurant is clean and waiter speaks English. We had: MUSHUPRAWNS W/PANCAKES: Interesting! I’d order this one just for fun. EGGPLANT: I like my food on the salty side, but you need to have this with rice to balance the saltiness. It would be more tasteful if it came with tofu. MONGOLIANBEEF: Good, but nothing special. BEEFCHOWMEIN: Should have gotten pork because the beef tasted the same as the Mongolian beef. CASHEWNUTCHICKEN: I liked the cashews mixed with the chicken. Probably my favorite out of the dishes. Peking Duck needs a 24-hour notice. Prices aren’t bad either. I think China Palace or Dave Wong’s are better alternatives in Stockton.
