This is the best place in town for quality eyewear. Ken, the owner is very friendly and patient. He carries many brands and styles; if you can’t find what you like, you can also look through the catalogs. My family and I have purchased many eyeglasses and sunglasses from Ken over the years. We have been satisfied with every purchase we made and he also does a great job adjusting the frames.

Great experience of purchasing glasses without feeling too pressured. The owner is friendly and very helpful. I went into Great Spectacles, also in the Lincoln Center, and they were more snobby and looked at me like i couldn’t afford it. Thats fine, I’ll take my money elsewhere. He gives student discounts, too! Will definitely be back for another pair.

I was getting very frustrated with my cool vibe eye glasses that I just couldn’t get anyone to adjust to fit my face, ears, whatever. Then I stopped at BevMo, of all places to pick up a few of those little liquor bottles that you can take on a plane. (although when I pointed this out to the stewardess, she told me I couldn’t open it? Just keep it on the Q.T. and you should be fine). I was ready to make a stop at Safeway for a last minute purchase of Dramamine (yes, I get motion sickness on planes and I know, I’m a real basket case) when I thought about Meyers Optical. I remember going here when I was still in college when they were located close to St. Mark’s Plaza.
Still the same Meyer’s and still the same friendly, courteous, professional service that I remember back then. I did not purchase my glasses here and felt a bit awkward stopping in to talk to the proprietor about an adjustment. He immediately put me at ease, did a bit of observing and measuring and minimal tweaking, removing, looking, tweaking, removing, looking and what do you know, a month later, glasses are still fitting well, not sliding down my nose, cutting off my breathing or pinching my skull into a quite state of numbness.
I really wanted him to take something, assign a fee, access a value for this invaluable service. No.
Well, I love love my OD, but, I’d have to say, next time I’m due for new glasses, I will take my prescription to Meyers once the exam is completed. Adjusting glasses is a skill that is acquired with much practice, unlimited patience and is especially well done by those who either currently or have previously worn glasses; they know our pain.

This is the place to go for your eyewear needs. Professional, friendly, very service oriented. Patient — they realize that you have to be happy with the look and the fit and they’ll take whatever time necessary to patiently walk you through your choices, give you some things to think about and then spend time making sure your new glasses or shades fit.
When I couldn’t find what I wanted, Ken the owner walked me through Oakley’s catalog and ordered a pair from the factory. When I decided a day later to pick up the pair they had in stock instead, it was no big deal and he was happy to accomodate me. I spent half the time there engaged in friendly chatter with Ken about nothing and everything. It’s a very relaxed, comfortable environment. If they served coffee and sodas there, I would give them six stars!

This place has pretty much everything you’re looking for… and if they don’t carry it, they will order it for you. I described a pair of eyeglasses I saw on someone… and they found the EXACT pair of Gucci frames.
They are extremely friendly too!
