I had to drive there to get my seeds in time which took 2 hours out of my day. They gave me the bag(less than $ 20) free because they lost the paperwork. That was nice of them. I bought another bag so that they would make some money from the transaction because I don’t like to «stick it» to small businesses, but I do hope that this will encourage them to not lose paperwork in the future.

Was shocked to find this place on top of that they had the elusive torpedo onion seeds that I’ve been looking for for several years including online I just couldn’t find them the only thing I could get online was sets and I don’t want sets I want seeds. Lockhart seeds has been here for about 90 years I was told today by Joe who helped me out a lot with the issues I have with in my garden and planter beds. Can’t wait to start my torpedo onions and the rest of my Winter Garden. Looking forward to returning and browsing more thoroughly when I have more time!

My grandfather used to come to this store when he was still alive. I started going when I began gardening. It has a large selection with bulk of just about anything. I also appreciate that they carry unique things like rooting hormone. The staff is very helpful too.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Maybe we missed something. Pretty standard seed selection. Small nostalgic store. Can buy certain seeds in bulk. Had a totally different expectation for this place.

This is the cutest little old fashioned gardening and seed store. I hate to admit that I almost have a black thumb, and decided I wanted to play with growing flowers and veggies from seeds. They answered every single dumb question I had and they have the most AMAZING collection of heirloom seeds I’ve every seen in my life. I’m going to have to visit again soon… I want more flowers :)

They practically have every kind of seed you want. Those drawers behind the counter are also seeds and you can buy them by the pound. I needed to buy some lettuce seeds for my job and found them here for $ 15 for a pound of the variety that I chose. FIFTEENDOLLARS for a pound of lettuce seeds. All you need is a pinch to grow a pot full. When I told them what I was going to do with the seeds, they also donated a bag full of coriander seeds because I work with kids. I found a seed packet for luffa(loofah) gourds here. I didn’t even know it was a plant! You can grow your own bath scrubs! Oh, I YouTubed that sh** when I got home so I can grow them this year. They are very knowledgable, friendly, and generous. If you are a garden novice these guys can help you out. It took me three years to figure it out but if I knew them earlier it probably wouldn’t have taken that long.

When we come to visit family in Stockton, we always think of this place. I know Lockhart’s has been here since dinosaurs roamed the earth. Walking in the door is like a step back in time. My father-in-law in the early 1960s would buy all his seeds for his abundant Stockton garden from here. He had a green thumb, and always had the best corn, best veggies. And of course that started with the best and freshest seeds. And they are just as reliable today. I only wish we lived nearby. So, while visiting in late June of this year, we snatched up some hard to come by seeds in hopes we still have some good growing season left. After all, So Cal has a long summer. To my husband, who is becoming his father reincarnated, this little old fashioned store with it’s garden implements and huge variety of seeds(exotic and not), along with their experience and advice, is as good as it gets.

This is a great company to do business with. I am 29 with my own landscape business and I have been going here for yard care products and seeds since I was a child with my grandfather. The people that work here are very nice and extremely smart about the products they sell. I well keep doing business here untill they prove that they dont have what it takes to take care of my needs. The store also gives you that Mom and Pop feeling when you walk through the door which I personaly love.

I operate a small CSA farm north of Sacramento. A fellow small farmer told me about this place, so I made the pilgrimage to check it out. We arrived painfully close to their 5pm closing time. The store is smaller than I envisioned, but the first thing to catch my eye was the huge cabinet of seeds behind the counter. I usually buy most of my farm’s row crop seeds from Johnnys online… while there wasn’t the variety of… varieties…offered there, there was a lot to choose from and at considerable savings. The man working there patiently got out packet after packet of what I asked for as I tried to rush along. The packets were pre-measured and clearly labelled. Everything was neat and sanitary looking. I made it out with a huge haul of seeds to round out the rest of the winter garden as well as some new stuff to start for spring. I learned some time ago that when it comes to seeds, it is «garbage in, garbage out», which is why I no longer buy from hardware stores or other locations where I don’t think they care very diligently for their inventories. I also saw bulbs, onion starts and sets, lots of bags of greenhouse materials for seed starting, amendments, garden tools, and a whole lot of items I didn’t have enough time to look through. As long as I have decent germination results from what I did purchase, I will come back to this place, as there is every chance it will save me a LOT of money on my annual seed bill.

This company supplies the nursery I work at with Stockton Onions, bulk turnip and mustard seeds, bulk corn seed, seedless watermelon seeds and much much more. We have been doing business with them forever and whenever we call them the seeds arrive the next day. If I lived nearby I am sure I would be a frequent shopper!

This is not your typical store;how can I categorize it? It’s like music that really can’t be pigeon holed into one genre. It’s a seed store, a garden implement store, a tomato and other veggies ready to be planted set store, need some burlap sacks for the family reunion’s game station? They’ve got those too. One whole wall is full of these little drawers that I suppose were constructed for the purpose of storing seeds… any farmers out there in Unilocalland that can add to this? It’s an education, a revelation, and a new vibration! Fun stuff on the East-Side!
