Hmm, good topic. I love my little(town) home — we moved here when my girl was literally 2 days away from turning 1 and my son was ‘on board.’ Good memories… I like my neighbors and love our community overall. I joke about it being a ‘cookie cutter village’ and bitch about the association fees and strictness but it keeps our place quite pretty! The landscaping is tremendous! I’m still excited when I make my right into my utopia and am HOMESWEETHOME!!! We’re welcomed by our ‘squeak’ miniature Dachshund and 2 Lovebirds daily, which makes coming home even brighter! Once the kiddies are settled from school and dinner is on, my hair goes up in a bun and out come the comfy clothes! Ahhhhh! We bought some new furniture but most of it was/still is ‘hand me down.’ I like that though. It’s like my grandmother is still with me and I cherish everything from my mom, esp my Tiffany lamp & certain pillows. As the years went by, things got rocky and I took off w/the kids to my parent’s house — my home was no longer mine/ours for 5 months… Since returning, there have been many changes. I’ll focus on the actual house. My dad re-modeled two of our powder rooms and re-did my children’s rooms. I also Good Will’d & threw out a lot of the kid’s old toys. I love my sanctuary of a bedroom that boasts a hotel like quality with the rich colors of burgundy, gold, tan and dark green. I still enjoy my glider that my dad bought me when my son was a newborn. My favorite color is red and I have touches of it throughout the house(esp the kitchen!) in flowers, vases and a special hand painted pix by my mom. The rest of my house is cozy — lots of photographs, artwork, an area rug, mobiles, blankets & throws plus some collectibles. The basement is very kid friendly(x-box, balls, some toys) but also neat and has a nice fireplace that we’ve made great use of over the years. I especially enjoy it during Christmastime! None of rooms are big but I’d rather have a smaller inside and a larger outside. Unfortunately, I don’t have my own yard — it’s a shared common area. But that also has it’s pro’s because I don’t have to mow it! The disgustingly high mortgage is killing me and my house is on the market. It’ll be a mixed bag when it sells.

There is a saying, «home is where the heart is». I have felt that way at times, sadly very long ago. Now my mind and my heart are elsewhere when I’m in my house. I find myself living in a neighborhood where I’m surrounded by cold and unfriendly neighbors. And in a state and town that is only concerned in how it can obtain more tax dollars from me. The house itself is outdated, poorly decorated, and contains mostly uncomfortable furniture. But fond memories engulf me of times past. These do keep me warm in a drafty abode. They also make it difficult to break free of this place. The best part about my home is that when I return to it, a fuzzy and warm feline is always waiting for me. This is the only home she’s ever known, and to her it’s as good as it gets. I know better, and need to do something to change this. Goin to leave, this broke down palace, on my hands and my knees, I will crawl…

Because where else can you sit in your boxers and not get arrested? Although sometimes you just have to get the hell away from it.
