My daughter and I stopped here on our drive from Seattle to San Diego, tho they have burritos, tortas, etc. I can only speak for the tacos and I have to say that they are some pretty good tacos and worth the money. Flavorful meat, nice selection of condiments(salsas/vegetables) and friendly staff. The only reason It didnt get a higher rating was because it is hot in the seating area :)

This truck is as good as any restaurant. This chain has multiple trucks at various locations as well. There is one that parks at Park and Hunter until about 1:00PM, and! Then moves to a location on El Dorado, about 4 blocks North of Harding. I stays there until about 6:00PM. Personally, I know that these trucks all have their own flavor. This truck makes the best burritos around. Find it and see for yourself!

The carne asada here is TOPNOTCH! I don’t think you can get asada more tender than El Grullense. It’s in a rougher part of town right by Edison High School on Charter Way/MLK Jr Blvd but hey, if you’re anything like me, you’ll go to the grimiest parts of town for some GOODEATS! The tortillas tasted home made(as they should be, I guess??), and they didn’t saturate the tacos in onion, cilantro, and salsa unless it’s by request. There was a line of about 6 people but service was super fast and the food came out HOT and well«put together», if that makes sense. The food wasn’t all over the dish and the ingredients weren’t super runny, which can be an issue depending on where you get it from. Tacos were $ 1.50 each and it was money well spent. And they don’t skimp on the meat, either. I’ve got mad love for my food trucks because it’s what I grew up on. Winner winner chicken dinner for El Grullense!

The burrito that I got here was good, but the after effects of it were not. FOODPOISONING! I will NEVER come here again.

I usually LOVE El Grullense. I grew up across the street from it. My family and I will drive from North Stockton to get here for their tacos & burritos. Which is why we drove here one Sunday afternoon… to our dissatisfaction. So when we arrived, there were 2 people ordering and about 5 patrons standing around for their order. My sister’s boyfriend took our orders and stood in line. My sister and I requested 10 tacos with extra onions to share between the 2 of us and he wanted a burrito. He finally placed the order and returned to the car. As he returned to the car, more cars pulled up and there was a long line of about 7 people waiting to order. Our order came up 8 minutes after and why did we barely get any onions or any hot sauce on our tacos or his burrito??? I had to go home and chop more onions ;( Look, El Grullense, just because you have a long line going doesn’t mean you have to forget about the previous orders or skimp on others. People will actually wait a little longer for you to get the orders correct. You were THE ish taco truck back in the day and could still be if you paid more attention. There are a lot more taco trucks today, and even all over the North side… and I know there are a couple that are just as good if not better. For the sorry looking tacos I got on Sunday, I’d rather save my gas and go to a North side taco truck. If you care about keeping customers, you should start paying attention…

Came here a month or two ago and this place is pretty good… tasty and good flavors but OMGITWASSPICY!!! No warning, noone even bothered to ask me anything but I got the super burrito carne asada and it was falling everywhere with each bite. I can’t believe they made it that spicy knowing I was pregnant too LOL I’ve had better burritos but it was pretty damn good and would’ve been better, maybe, if I wasn’t pregnant.

OMG… I swear the burritos just got better!!! When you hear stories of Stockton burrito trucks… this should be the one to fit into your own story. We have taken all our out of town-er guests here and we have never failed! The rice is well seasoned and not overcooked(soft and smushy). You know that it is when its red. The carne asada is bright red! That’s when you know the burrito is going to be awesome! We live a good 45 mins drive away, and we always make the time to get out here at least once a month. This place of course only take cash, so be prepared. We always get our burritos extra spicy and no beans… that helps to have less distractions on the flavor. Even the flautas here are awesome. Give it a try! They may not open on rainy days… once we went there when it was raining and they weren’t there, so we had to stop at another nearby truck and were very disappointed.

I thought my husband was fulla shhh as usual when he told me that he was going to take me to the best taco truck in Stockton. I’m used to Oakland where there are taco trucks everywhere. Lucky for me he was right and my burrito was damn near perfect. The perfect balance of meat and rice; the carne asada was cooked perfectly and flavorful. I’m drooling just thinking about it. The parking lot is small and sketchy so I probably wont venture out that way solo but I’ll be back. 2 fat burritos for under $ 10? You cant beat that.

the one place you can always get the same flavors and good fast service anytime. go there on a regular basis and they do you right, sometimes they may throw in an extra taco or make you a big fat burrito. go by give them a try and you’ll be back even if it is Saturday night on the southside of town.

Seeing as I just moved back to California recently I’ve been craving these burritos some 10+ years now. Trust me from someone who’s been all over the continent nothing compares to the burritos in this little taco truck!

Finally found this place to rate on Unilocal.I have been eating from this truck for the last 17 years and from this business since 1980. Sergio the taco master who works this particular truck is one of the most personable and friendly dudes you will ever meet. I don’t know about a review listed below, but Sergio speaks great English. Could have been someone else on that day. Anyway, when I come up to Stockton to visit family this is the first place I hit to eat. I literally grave these tacos and the salsa roja(red sauce) This is by far the best red sauce I have ever tasted from around 1000 or so taco places and trucks from California to Guadalajara. The sauce is so flavorful and complex. Unfortunately only the owners know the recipe. I always order the carne asada tacos with cilantro and onion and a ton of red sauce. A squirt of lemon and you are set. The burritos are bomb too, get them without the rice as the rice is more of a filler and takes the protein out of the meal. Just meat, beans, cilantro and onion and of course red sauce!!. Unfortunately I live over 400 miles from this place and only come up north 1 – 2 times a year but boy when I do, I am here everyday. Sergio runs a tight, clean truck and you can’t go wrong with anything you order. Yes, the area is a little sketchy but hey it’s Stockton and the truck is only open during daylight hours. Enjoy my friends as this taco truck rocks. El Grullense trucks are all over town and there are a couple sit down restaurants too all from the same family or a cousin or two. The one on Alpine street also serves beer. All have the same high quality ingedients and of course the Red Sauce!

Skip the burritos too. Way too much rice and beans and not enough carne asada. This truck will continue to have warm place in my heart because of the sketchy surroundings and cast of characters that frequent this place. Last time I was here, I was accosted by a gentleman who asked me and others to buy him a taco then became belligerent when we declined. My recent visit was met by a chatterbox who was told to shut the fuck up.

Good-ish burrito, but you are going to a truck. He will always hook it up if you are a regular. But once again, you are going to a truck. Bring cash, and tip him, that will make you a regular real quick.

No English. No problem. Non-verbal communication saves the day. Delicious.
