Balance Physical Therapy and Pilates offers private sessions and group classes. I was referred to Balance by a Therapilates therapist in Miami, FLA who works with athletes, and trains therapies throughout the world. The Miami therapist had helped one of my friends who had balance issues following removal of a brain tumor. I have kept physically active my entire life, and was having some issues with my back(no injury, but difficulty in holding my poster«up.»). Kathleen Wong(owner of Balance) did an assessment and found that I have a mild case of scoliosis; I also have a mild case of spina bifida that I never knew about. She worked with me over a series of weeks to strengthen the muscles in my back, arms, shoulders, and hips so that I am now easily able to hold my posture erect. My goal is to preserve posture and balance, and to avoid osteoporosis(runs in my family). The sessions also prepared me to start into a better exercise routine at home to maintain the improvements that were gained in therapy. Balance currently also offers group pilates classes two evenings per week at very reasonable prices. I have not yet participated in these, as that time of day is more difficult for me to commit. Ms. Wong’s therapeutic equipment is state of the art, and fascinating. Many athletes(all ages) have been clients at Balance and many clients are referred by physicians. If you are having trouble with body pain, balance issues, muscle weakness, bodily injuries that are impeding your movement, you might want to check it out. THe amazing thing that I learned is that the body can heal itself, and that the body WANTS to revert to a more wholesome status following either years of getting out of kilter, or injury.
