I’ve been sitting in this office for two and a half hours. We live in the worst allergy valley in the world so it’s busy here, especially around spring time. Dr. Bensch and his son work here run another physician. I have the older Dr. George Bensch, and he was very thorough in his exam, questions, and consultations. The scratch test is about 60 pricks on your back with different allergens people are allergic to. They hurt a bit, but not too bad. They then measure the inflammation and re-test you with needles in your arms for the allergens that tested negative. From there, they can do various tests. I was tested for asthma and got a nebulizer treatment. If you choose to, they can make an antigen of your allergens and you would back for shots to titrate you up to become immune to your allergens. The only thing is its a long process and could take months to develop immunity. The visits decrease as time goes on. Just be warned when coming in for a regular allergy shot, you need to wait 30 minutes after to make sure you don’t get a reaction(which I got before hence I stopped the previous treatment 6 years ago). My advice for the office: they need to be more careful with HIPPA and protecting patient privacy. Patient test results were left on computer screens and the walls are thin. Sometimes patients were in rooms without doors being closed. Now I’m late to work because this taking an hour longer than I was told, so it would be nice to not have your patients waiting for hours. And for the people who give shots… it’s not very consistent. I was trained in immunization, and I’ve had to ask the people to make sure they swab my skin with alcohol because I rarely feel any. I also ask them to make sure they wait for it to dry because it can sting patients. Another confusion is when I ask whether if it should be given SQ or IM. I’ve heard SQ, but they always administer it Im and sometimes SQ… am I really paying for this?
