Back in my Jones soda school busin’ days I used to stop here all the time. My bus dropped me off three or four blocks from A&L. I had been going there for years with my dad but that was about the time I started shopping there myself. I like A&L it hasn’t changed a bit. They also have a meat counter there. Never purchased any from here though. It’s still family owned with awesome, friendly customer service. Parking sometimes can be hard to find if at night — due to Blackwater traffic. Otherwise it’s usually easy and they have their own lot but it fills quickly. I haven’t been in awhile, which reminds me I should go and grab some munchies for the days trek.

Great place to stop by for a soda, chips, etc. I have came here all my life and everyone there knows me and my family. They are some of the friendliest people you will meet. If you are in the area(near Victory Park) make this your stop to refuel and snacks and beverages. I can’t believe I almost forgot, they have the best roast beef in town. If you can ever get some when its fresh you can’t pass it up.

I love this store. Sure it may seem weird and strange with its pink exterior, but I love that its a local business. I’ve been going here since I was a kid and hope it lasts forever. My dad & I always stop here on our way out of town to get snacks for the road and the staff is always prompt and friendly. Plus, they would let me buy lotto scratchers before I turned 18 because I looked older for my age… not as if I ever won anything of course.

A nice local grocery store, family run and open on holidays. An easy place to get that carton of milk you’re out of, or canned cranberries on Thanksgiving when someone dislikes the real stuff… okay so it was me! But A & L came through. Plus the mom and pop that work there always pretend like they know me and ask about how college life is at Berkeley. Even though they have the wrong gal, it’s nicer to have someone think that they know you, than have the cold fake ‘did you find everything alright?’ at the chain supermarkets.
