If some Hollywood director called central casting for the perfect country inn, the Stockbridge Country Inn would get the part. Envision a white country farmhouse, impeccably decorated with period furniture and wall paper, and featuring two sitting rooms, one with a southern exposure for lots of light, an ample dining room where you will be served an excellent and more than ample breakfast, and a den with a great wood stove and filled with hundreds of books about American history. Every bedroom features a private bathroom with the most modern appointments and plenty of hot water and soft towels. You’ll also find toothbrushes, etc., in case you rushed out of your house just ahead of the SWAT team. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and the furniture is of the highest quality. Your inn-keepers are Diane and Vern, warm and friendly, ready to oblige and make your visit a wonderful memory. We have stayed there twice in the past, and this time, the weekend after Presidents’ weekend, we were the only guests and had the place pretty much to ourselves, so we got to spend lots of time with Diane and Vern. Here’s an example of exceptional customer service: lots of snow was predicted for Friday, when we drove up. Diane called and gave us the option of simply cancelling if we didn’t want to brave the weather. Of course, the snow materialized Saturday night, so we were glad we made the trip. One other note, the guest demographic is pretty high end — folks who could otherwise stay at Blantyre etc., but who want a more intimate experience. In our prior stays, the other guests were friendly and ready to engage in interesting discussion around the breakfast table. We’ll be back next fall!

The first time we went, we were really pleased with the breakfast and the room; the second time seemed a bit less special. The owners are very nice. During our second trip, there was a storm coming in and they allowed us to cancel our second night without charge.

I booked this location only because of the great reviews and its #2 ranking on Trip Advisor’s Top 10 do-die-for inns and B&Bs. I was really disappointed. With accolades such as these I was expecting«spectacular». I got«very good.» The inn is well maintained and decorated nicely. Our room was an average size with a canopy bed. The bathroom for sure was above average. Two sinks, unheard of for a small inn such as this; but no bathtub only a shower. Very nice selection of toiletries set out. The pool is nice but not heated. It took some getting used to in order to get in. I think the biggest disappointment was the breakfast. Sure they had a coissant, fruit, and choice of eggs, but it was all so standard and ordinary. I was expecting something gourmet and creative. Considering what we got for the money I just don’t think the value is there.

Great, well-maintained, beautiful bed and breakfast just off the country road 183 in Stockbridge. The inn-keepers were very friendly, and the house is enormous and gorgeous. Our bed was very comfortable and the room was exceedingly clean and tidy. It’s a bright, well-kept, beautiful place to stay. The breakfast service staff was a little gruff, but their food was outstanding(great apple pancakes and fresh fruit). One of our favorite parts — everyday at 4:30 /5, the innkeepers put out wine and cheese /snacks for the guests. Very cool. We would certainly go back. Be warned: most of the rooms do not have a TV, but there are a few communal TV’s in the lobby.
