Lion’s Main – Bites & Libations

I really like it, have been many times. The prices are a little high, but the food has been delicious every time, and the space has been beautifully renovated. I also really like the fire pit in the front patio!

Great addition to Stillwater restaurant scene… Perfect place to relax and enjoy unique and flavorful cuisine. The patio is a great place to people watch during spring and summer months. The libations will chase away your worries and the staff and bartenders warmly greet you and make sure you have a good time. Sometimes there is live music too… I highly recommend you give this place a chance. Relax and have a good time…

Lovely place! Stillwater should be pumped about having this great eatery! I loved my trucker fries and my risotto. Plus the live music was VERY good. Just all around excellent place!

Haven’t eaten at a lot of places in Stillwater and was visiting from out of town. A friend recommended this place. The food was fine, but not awesome. Their garlic fries are great and the Root Vegetable side salad was great!
The waiter completely spaced our appetizer order. Then when he took our dinner order, he went to walk away from the table completely before letting me order for our kid… apparently he wasn’t aware that 4 year olds actually eat and order. He said since he spaced our appetizer completely when our food came out that he was going to buy our «round of beers» but ended up taking off the $ 5 side salad instead.
Had the burger special, Roasted poblanos and smoked gouda. The cheese and peppers were completely tasteless. They didn’t season the burger at all before cooking it… (S & P on everything guys!) and then the waiter gave me a crusty look when I requested it.
Hubbby had the pork tacos, (waiter had to clarify x2 on this one, «you wanted the beef right? NO, pork!»… dude… get a tablet for .50 cents and write stuff down) They were fine… fries were great.
The kid had chicken tenders. I was impressed they went out of their way to MAKE homemade chicken fingers… impressive… but not so much on the taste. They used really thin pieces of chicken, and although the home made breading was impressive… it really just hid the dried fried chicken jerky below.
They had a great cocktail list and appear to have something going for themselves… we just didn’t get an idea of what that might be.

Came for a late lunch with the family. Loved the atmosphere; gorgeous wood work, plush leather seats, attention to detail for sure. Would like to come back at night for the mood lighting. Food was outstanding for a bar/​grill. My burger was the best I’ve had in a while. The tomato/​bacon/​Serrano marmalade put it over the top delicious. My Mom had the lunch trio; again, some of the best chicken tortilla soup we’d ever had. Super nice server. Definitely go. Loved the historic building too…

I just had dinner at Lion’s Main and the food was mediocre. The acoustic band that was playing was way too loud to have a conversation during dinner. I was not impressed by the cook that I could see in the open kitchen with a sleeveless shirt, with his underarm hair showing. That’s got to be a health code hazard. I won’t be recommending this place to anyone.

Love the libations. I had the twig n berries the perfect summer drink. We also had the relleno fritters and hummus both were awesome. Love sitting outside and playing bags with the football game on the TV.

Delicious! a Must when in the area.

«Let the new places work out the kinks» doesn’t apply to Lions Main! First experience I blindly ordered a burger & it was dynamite! The second time back I had (per fellow diner recommendation) the chicken wings, WOW! Highly recommended spot in Stillwater!

Great little place in Stillwater. The Drinks get 5 stars by themselves. The food was excellent. The chicken Arapas were juicy, full of flavor with an awesome pico. The pork Arapa’s had an incredible smoky bark, tender and very flavorful. You can’t beat the crispy garlic fries with homemade BBQ sauce. And you have to try the Dulce de Smokey Burger. Definitely one of the best burgers I have had in a while.

What a great little place to get a drink and enjoy some music! We stopped in late one night during the Stillwater Live Music Days and truly enjoyed ourselves.
It’s a small, quaint, dark and romantic place right along the main drag of town; but being so secluded in their bar room you wouldn’t know anyone else was around. We had some great drinks (martinis, gin and rye based drinks) and were happy with the service too.
We’d like to have tried some of the food, but were too full from dinner/​dessert at other places to even think about eating again. Maybe next time!

I’ll start by saying the dulce de smokey burger was very good. Overall though, we had a bad experience. One member of our party had an issue with her food. She brought it up to the chef and the manager and neither of them handled her concerns with much professionalism. It could have been resolved pretty easily I think. Instead they were both defensive. Without going in to too much detail I would just say that the manager may need some more practice in interacting with unhappy customers.
A couple other notes: our waiter was friendly and apologetic, and the calamari appetizer was mostly fried breading and seemed to have fish mixed in.

Fish tacos were good, would have been better on flour tortillas instead of corn but i can’t be hold my personal preference against them. Especially since I didn’t ask to substitute. Normally I skip the fries that come with the meal but the garlic curiosity got the better of me and before I knew it the plate was empty. So yeah, garlic fries were good as well. Reasonably priced and outdoor seating is always a plus for me. Server was incredibly delightful as well, always smiling without seeming insincere.

Expensive burger for what I received. Flavorless and small. Fries were cold and lacked the parsley and garlic as suggested by the server. The only server on mind you. Sydney I believe her name is. She had too many tables to give us proper service. Six bucks for a bottle of beer brewed down the street. Cross the street and pick one of the other three joints. Better food and better pricing.
Disappointed.

We have been here several times and just love this place. Simple menu with diverse selection of fresh food. Cocktails are very creative with natural ingredients. Ambiance is awesome, we love the leather seating, very comfy. Feels like you are in a fancy club in Minneapolis/​Chicago. We took my In-​Laws here last night and sat on the patio. My In-​Laws are very picky and like good expensive food. Normally when they come up we are stressing on where to take them. The night was amazing, service was great, food was very fresh and tasty. Before leaving my In Laws said «this place was very good». This coming from a couple that eats at very high end places when they are in town. Thanks Lions Main for making it a great night. We will be back!!!

Great ambiance, especially the bar area. Wait staff was great. We had the fish tacos with garlic fries and it was delicious and at a great price. Other people in my group had the Gyro and burgers which they also enjoyed. The menu is limited but still offers enough variety. Will definitely go back!

So delicious! We had a pair of lift gate special brews the server suggested that rocked or faces off. And then. …the garlic fries. …to good. .for. .words. HeBrix had the burger, SheBrix had the gyro… both @$x+%#ing delicious. A must stop in Stillwater.

We loved this place! They have a small menu but everything on it sounded delicious and fairly healthy. Our amazing server Lindsay suggested the Fashionable Lion (Old Fashion with a twist) with peanut infused bourbon and it was perfect. I would absolutely get it again, old fashions are usually on the sweet/​syrupy side for me, this was lighter and unique.
I got the fish tacos and my husband got the gyro, we were both very happy with our choices. All the meals come with really good thin crispy fries and they have a sauce menu for dipping, I highly recommend getting a few to try.
The atmosphere had a dark pub feel, very cute. It was chilly the night we were there but in the summer the patio is going to be great. Loved everything about our experience and highly recommend!

Great vibe, inside and out. Good food, inexpensive for downtown Stillwater. Creative drinks. A fantastic successor to Reve.
