I purchased my first original oil paintings (on linen) today from 2 charming staff in this store.
The staff were busy arranging displays. Somehow, they magically managed to continue arranging stuff, attend to their customers, and give me enough space to ponder.
I need lots of space ponder art work.
They offered to lend me the paintings, so I could learn how they fit with the light and décor of my own home. They rummaged around their store room to find out if they had more paintings by the artist who’s work I’d fallen for. They bought out an easel so that I could view the paintings in different light conditions in the store. I stood looking at the paintings for hours. I went away, I came back… It took me 3 hours to make a purchase.
When I finally purchased the art they spontaneously gave me a 12% discount.
The store is full of everything from earrings, pottery, sculptures, painting all the way to furniture. Disconcertingly diverse. Classic small town gallery. The staff were a delight. I’ll be back when they phone me to tell me they’ve found more pieces by the artist who’s work has captured my heart.
