I visited for my first time today, and enjoyed an excellent spinach feta quiche. My son & I have always enjoyed Twofish Bakery, and I was delighted they have taken over the Stewarts Point Store. With that in mind, all reviews prior to June 1, 2016 are not relevant to this current business. Their forte has always been their baked goods, but they also offer sandwiches, calzones, quiche, ice cream sundaes, and may make bread and pizzas in the future. In addition they have a large selection of drinks and snacks, including salads. They have 5 seats at the counter, more seating inside at a couple of tables, and a few picnic tables outside. Their current hours are 7:30 am to 7:30 pm every day except Sunday, when they close at 5:00. I strenuously object to the updated review dated 5÷27÷16. If what he alleges is true, then it is truly a mystery how they built such a popular business on a side road off Route 1. As a small businessman myself I am tremendously impressed at how they have maintained quality and service, supported local producers, and built such a large and dedicated following. Yes, we all have to wait in line sometimes, but those who have been coming back year after year know that it is worth the wait.

Now being run by TwoFish and has their great baked goods and a more upscale selection of wines, cheeses, and so on. Still has the same country general store feel with a lot of old artifacts on the walls and shelves.

Arrived by bicycle mid-afternoon on Sunday. It was chilly, so I asked about soup. «Not today, but we have Sloppy Joes.» Sloppy Joes! Who makes Sloppy Joes anymore! This was a generously sloppy serving on a tasty bun with the perfect balance of sweet and savory. I split the sandwich with a friend and it was still plenty of food for a hungry cyclist. We ate inside but the view from the porch is pretty special on a nice day.

As others have stated, this place is a little gem on the PCH North in Mendonoma(Mendocino/Sonoma County). My gf and I were camping at nearby Salt Point SP when I realized that my lantern needed a new mantle. We talked to our camp host and she suggested nearby Stewarts Point General Store. «Try their sandwiches!» she says. We headed North on Highway 1 as directed and I nearly drove right by this neat two story gas station and general store. A lot of bicyclists were there in the parking lot enjoying lunch at some picnic tables, as well as some motorcycle riders taking a break. Inside was charming and had a vintage general store vibe, but with a gourmet palate. In the back of the store is a deli and there are several refrigerators stocked with a nice selection of beverages(craft sodas, beer, wines) and other snacks. We were very tempted to purchase some Smores materials they had laid out, but prudence stepped in and I thought better. The owner(who is a local artist I later learned on our second stop there) was out of mantles, but was very helpful in sending me to a nearby hardware store, Sea Ranch Supply. We bought some veggies and a can of chili before heading out to Sea Ranch. We also needed some matches, and they happily gave us a bag of wooden match sticks for free. The next day I realized we needed some food to bring with us on our hike, so we decided to come back to Stewart’s Point and order some of those sandwiches our camp host had raved about. We grabbed a couple of bags of Kettle chips to go with them and headed back to camp. Long story short… after maybe 7 miles of hiking, our hunger got the best of us as we quickly tore into the dense nourishment we carried. I ordered my usual turkey and my gf ordered hers Italian style with salami. Both sandwiches we had built with lots of produce and were supremely delicious. We continued our hike with full bellies that were quiet for the rest of the day. All in all, if you’re in the area and need something in a pinch or have a hankering for a gourmet treat, Stewarts Point Store is the place to go!

Very unfriendly and not neighborly at all. I called to be sure they would have eggs as I needed them for something early in the morning. I go to the store about 5 minutes before they were supposed close but they had already locked the store and turned down the blinds. Someone peeked through the blinds and I thought they would open the door but I then heard them say they were closed. I said I just needed a dozen eggs and knocked on the door. A woman opened the door and said they were closed and it was after hours. I again said I just needed a dozen eggs and showed her my cell phone which now said 6:00, the time they advertised they were open to. No go. This is a rather remote area and the next closest store is 12 miles away and it was a 15 minute drive for me to get to the Stewarts Point Store… a drive I will never do again.

My wife and I decided to get dinner here based on the great reviews. It probably has a charm to it if you are a local, a regular or obsessed with the 1800’s. Neither my wife or myself felt very comfortable or welcome and while I am sure meat lovers have plenty of great options for food, the tuna sandwich we ordered was less than average. It was an experience visiting this spot for multiple reasons but will not be going back for more.

Seriously the BEST Italian sandwich I have ever had. We got there to late one afternoon and the deli closes at 4:30. The owner told us to try the Gualala Hotel which he recently purchased and renovated which we did. That was also fantastic. We ate there twice. Once for dinner then came back in the morning for breakfast. Both meals great but dinner was the best. On our way back to Napa we decided to try one more stop at Stewart’s Point. Even though it was in the middle of nowhere it was packed with motorcycles, bikers, etc. I waited about 40 minutes for these infamous sandwiches. I can personally say it was worth the wait. It was gigantic. Enough for two or three. I have been craving another one ever since.

This is a hidden gem on the beautiful Pacific Coast highway! If you’re in the mood for an outstanding gourmet sandwich or a cold one while listening to fantastic local musicians, this is the place for you. We’ve passed the Stewart Point Store dozens of times and have stopped in for coffee, but we never knew about the magic that was happening upstairs on Friday and Saturday nights! One of our friends, Rick White, was playing there and he told us we needed to check it out. I asked if there was food, as I’d be leaving right after work and Rick said they served sandwiches. What an understatement! We walked up the stairs behind the store and were greeted by the friendly owners and wait staff. «Sit anywhere», so we perched at a table near the small stage to listen to the fine music being played. My wife had a root beer and I asked what was on tap and was presented with three choices — Scrimshaw was the winner as its my favorite. As for«sandwiches» — what an understatement… these are not your average meat and bread sandwiches, but a selection of about a dozen specialties… it was a tough call as each made our mouths water. My wife had the Stewart’s Point, which was tri-tip with an amazing sauce on a large fresh roll. I had The Guerneville, a take on a traditional Cuban ham, cheese, pickle and Dijon mustard, also on a roll that was soft and fresh. The sandwiches were huge, tasty and filling — perfect with the cold beer. We ordered the potato salad as a side and were glad we did as it was out of this world freshly made and with the perfect crunch to accompany these excellent sandwiches. I scored half of my wife’s sandwich for the next day as her half satisfied her hunger even after a full day gardening. If you’re ever in the area and this place is open and has some live music, do yourself a favor and walk up those stairs and enter a world that is both a culinary and a musical delight. Its hard to categorize this wonderful little bar, but it reminds me of a rustic place with music and food right out of Greenwich Village from a time when real artists like Van Ronk, Dylan, Kristofferson were entertaining in small venues. Yes, the music is THAT good!

For a deli, you won’t find any better on the coast. Delicious food, freshly prepared, and with great ingredients. Enjoy the pit stop on the coast after work, and when I have to stick around during the day for meetings.

Four of us ate lunch today at the historic dance hall upstairs above Stewart’s Point Store. Each of us ordered something different. All four of our meals were excellent. Both hot and cold sandwiches are available. There is even an historic bar where guests can order a glass of wine or a cocktail(at 11:30 am, no less!). The coastal community has needed a place like this for years. The food is great and the setting offers guests an authentic experience in a local historic property that’s been in operation for 150 years(very old by California standards). In 1939 a great party was held to celebrate New Years Eve. The party decorations are still in place. Both the food and the venue are not to be missed! Lowell and Terry Johnson are to be congratulated.

Great sandwiches. Cute little store that is very clean & well organized. Great hard to find soda collections. 10 different kinds of root beer for example. Enjoy the ride out, take a little break for sandwiches and head on out. Great driving on a beautiful day. Skaggs rocks!

A fantastic moderately price gem of a store. I wish I had know they were there sooner as I would have done my camp shopping with them. This tired, hungry cyclist thanks you!

WAY higher quality than I was expecting for a tiny store. Unique and useful novelties: 5 stars. Hand-knit beanies, artisan sausage and cheese, fresh quality fruit, organic drinks, fresh baked, DELICIOUS pastries and cookies, bar AND coffee bar, etc. Coffee & Lattes: 3 stars. They did the job, but they were a bit rough on the tastebuds. I got the sense that the ratio of beans to water/milk could have been adjusted to create more balanced beverages. I didn’t think this was problematic enough to bring the rating down — just more of a suggestion for an area of improvement. Ambiance & Service: 5 stars. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the ambiance was rustic. It was fun simply walking around the store and seeing the antique furnishings and decorations. Loved it! While I’ll probably skip the coffee, I’ll make a point of stopping here anytime I come through :).

A perfect stopping point if you are road tripping along Highway 1. I live near here, so I stop by once a month or so to get a delicious deli sandwich(go for the Dutch Crunch!). Friendly folks who run the place and they have a little bit of everything in this old time store, including dairy, some fresh veggies/fruit and lots of snacks. It’s one of the few local places I can pick up a can of fresh and tasty Taylor Maid Coffee beans(love that stuff!) There is bench seating on the front of the store where you can catch some sun, or have a picnic at their giant picnic table. Please support this great little store. You won’t be disappointed.

Water. Air. Gas. These things are all vital to the success of all enthusiasts that are driving through. This is an oasis in a desert. Make sure to stop by here, get some gas, hang out with friends, eat something, and head back on the road. Unofficial mecca if ya feel me.

Not is our last name Stewart, but this place is a must stop every time we enter and leave The Sea Ranch. As we enter the kids get a special bottled soda(Stewart Brand :) to collect abalone, glass, rocks and shells while we are at The Sea Ranch. When we leave TSR we always stop for the best made(takes a good 10 – 15 mins/per sandwich) sandwich and bottled soda. The roast beef is always as tender as could be and the sandwich are the my fav. in CA. They have Wifi and a fantastic view. Enjoy!

While camping nearby at salt point state park I had to go on a morning hunt for lantern mantles as the spare I had turned out to not fit my lantern. after driving around to 2 towns for their small stores and finding not the right mantel, i decided i had time and…(wanted some space from the kids) and drove up to Stewarts Point and found this really cool general store. Totally done in an old style setup with customized refrigerators, etc. the owners were nice and while they still didn’t have the lantern mantel exactly I needed, I did get some I «retrofitted» and it worked fine. But the real gem was finding great foodie selections, fresh local produce, good wine, kind of a deli, etc. All with friendly service etc. Hope you guys make it way up there an get ALL the tourism biz. Great find.
