Long John Silver’s

This place is in a good location if you’re driving through Southwest Michigan, it’s an on-​off quickstop for us heading to or from Grand Rapids and Milwaukee to see or return from seeing family. The service isn’t great, they tend to be understaffed, and work delegation is far from efficient. No matter how few people are in there, we always seem to wait in line to order, then again to get our food. I’ve seen the order waiting to be picked up while the only worker in the front area handles both drive through and walk up customers, other workers all idle or doing side work of some sort. Partly this is due to ill-​conceived corporate policies, as an example the cashier has to waste everyone’s time with a long repeated request to respond to the customer satisfaction survey but only with a full five star rating if we liked the service. You know what this means, if they get less than the full five star rating, even if it’s a four, they’re in trouble, which is just foolish and yet so common in fast food and retail. This location has seen better days, it looks run-​down, inside and out, the rest rooms in particular are sorely in need of renovation and clean up.

Located near an exit/​entrance ramp right across the street from a gas station. Perfect.
Has a drive-​thru! Staff is cool about allowing you more of those crispy crumbs at no charge. If you are driving through the area late on a weekday, you may like to call ahead for times. I was there on a weekday night around 10Pm, they were already closing down for the night. I think they closed that night at 10:30pm
