The owner is very kind and responsive to feedback. The smoothies are sugary and could use more fruit, but she always takes costumer feedback well and hopefully she will also provide healthier options soon!

Not a bad place for a cup of coffee in Dulles. The food? I already had my fill of bad airport food, so I didn’t try, but it looked to be typical standard«grab and go» airport fare. But the cup of coffee I got — the Nutty Hawaiian — was one of the better cups of coffee I had gotten from a vendor in a while. I recommend for just that, but I have a hard time throwing them more than 3 stars for just a cup of coffee.

I don’t know how this place even resembles 1% of Hawaii, let alone Maui. It may look like a Tiki bar, but this place is more or less another Starbucks rehash. Maui Wowi serves up your standard selection of espresso drinks and smoothies, but with a huge addition of sugar. This place is located right in the United hub, so if you’re walking around from gate to gate, you’ll most likely pass it. Don’t be fooled, just keep on walking. Now I’ve come here a couple of times, so shame on me for coming back. The first time, I decided to order a smoothie. I was picturing something like Jamba Juice, but was given something worse than a berry smoothie Costco. It was literally just straight up syrup, ice, sugar, and some more sugar. What I’m trying to say, is it just was not very good, unless you really really like sugar. With their coffee drinks, I’ve ordered a couple espresso drinks here. I don’t know how you can possibly make coffee too sweet, but jesus christ, it was like drinking 16oz of warm sugar water. If I was looking for a pick-me-up, I should have just gotten a Red Bull or an espresso shot. So, another thing with Maui Wowi is that they sort of advertise themselves as something Hawaiian. Sure, they have Kona coffee on the menu but please do not be fooled. The Kona coffee that they serve is only 10% Kona. What that means, is basically it is not Kona, and you’re just drinking normal coffee. 10% Kona coffee costs around $ 10/lb, while 100% Kona coffee costs around $ 45/lb. See the difference? Don’t fall for that little trick because you’re going to get overcharged for just normal coffee. Perhaps you like a whole lot of sugar. If so, then Maui Wowi might be the place for you. Either that, or just go and grab a Snickers bar around the corner. Otherwise, if you’re actually looking for coffee, then at least go to a Starbucks or some other shop that actually sells coffee.

I ate here bright and early at my layover at Dulles en route to Puerto Rico. Given I made a rushed decision and I probably didn’t choose right(and I didn’t want to fork over the cash for a smoothie) but I chose a piece of lemon pound cake to snatch up and snarf quickly. A man that was on our flight did notice I was eating the same lemon pound cake as he was, and he smiled at me and said«enjoy!» haha. I’ve had worse, but I’ve had better. I’m sure there are better things on the menu. But in a pinch, and instead of piercing hunger, I’ll take it.

The lady working here is kind of a hippie but I liked that they had Kona coffee and there were some interesting smoothie choices. Decent coffee bar. This is my least favorite corner of Dulles, and this place is probably the best to get coffee in the immediate vicinity. A-OK.

Pretty good smoothie, strawberry was a bit tart but at least it was refreshing.

Decent orange mango smoothie while waiting for my plane. The price was a bit high and the staff were sort of spacey, but its in an airport so what do you expect.

one hour layover in IAD, I was looking for something healthy and fast.(no thanku pretzels, wendy’s, or over priced cold deli sandwiches)… i spotted this stand, having never heard of the franchise before(cali girl), and thought, ok, let’s do a smoothie! $ 4-something later i’m stuck with a nasty concoction. totally tasted artificial… i’m sorry, even the site says there’s fruit in it(2 servings, really?), but all i saw was the lady dump something orange from a milk carton-looking container into a pile of ice and blend… liquid fruit, maybe? what an invention… i tried to make myself finish it by taking it on the plane. i had paid money for it… but ended up throwing half of it away in the end. couldn’t stand it any longer. so not worth it.

First time trying out a Maui Wowi — not impressed with their breakfast sandwiches. I wanted a Bacon, egg, and cheese panini — but they were out. So I ordered a Ham, egg, and cheese grilled breakfast panini sandwich and a small coffee. The sandwich contains a pre-formed, pre-cooked slab of egg, sliced ham, and cheese. For some reason — there were two slabs of eggs in the sandwich, which made it to thick and did not allow heat to distribute evenly through the sammie. Coffee was average. No Splenda is available here.
