They showed up an hour late, and then three of the movers spent the first two hours basically standing around watching one guy work. My husband and I had to constantly go find them in the truck, where they were chatting and hanging out. Not surprisingly, the move took several hours longer than expected, and we ended up having to pay then hundreds of dollars more than their estimate. Maybe it was just a bad crew, but the whole experience was miserable.

Went with Carmack for our move from Chantilly to Fairfax. Had a very good experience. On time and very professional from start to finish. The crew was very efficient and both loading and unloading was very stress free. Will definitely recommend Carmack to friends and family.

I called Carmack to get a quote on moving our baby grand piano. Bruce told me he would try to get me a flat rate and would call me back. He called back and said that he had called a piano moving specialist to get a quote for me because he thought they might be able to do it for less than Carmack. He game me the phone number for the other company and a contact name. Thanks to Bruce we are saving at least $ 200 on the piano move. We appreciate Bruce, his honesty and excellent customer service. If the rest of Carmack operates like Bruce and his looking-​out-​for-​our-​customers approach then this is definitely a top rate company. We know who we’re calling for our next move. Julia helped me from the get go. Great communicatiuons, good paperwork. Seamless transition from Reston VA to Houston TEXAS!!! When the truck reached Houston, the crew along with the local crew unloaded and unpacked teh kitchen stuff efficiently and with good spirit. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Carmack called me out of the blue and asked if they could stop by and give me a free quote on my upcoming local move from Fairfax to Oakton… I already had a quote i was happy with but I took a chance on this company because I like to support local business.
Turns out their quote was within $ 50 of the other one, BUT with Carmack I got an extra guy (4 total rather than 3) and I learned that whenever the movers get a good review, they get a pay bonus. The rep was also very good about explaining how moving insurance worked and didn’t try to push it on me.
So turns out I’m super clever because these guys were AMAZING. They were on time, polite — even friendly! They finished my move-​out, transfer AND move-​in in FIVE HOURS. Saved me $ 600+ from the estimate.
Before you go with a big moving chain, definitely talk to these guys. I would go with them again in a heartbeat.
