Rogers Roost

~~I come here to play Keno and have a beer. Best time for me is late afternoon because they are not too crowded. I believe the servers name is Lauren and she is a super-​duper– multi-​tasked. You Go Girl.~~ For my purposes, the place is great!!~~

So, so bad. Yesterday’s French fries served cold, overcooked burgers, slimy/​bland fettuccini Alfredo. Servers were friendly though. So long to an old favorite.

Horrible food experience. My wife’s burger came with raw bacon. Ironically the burger was overlooked and dry. My Rueben came with hardly any sauerkraut. The corned beef was so processed it’s tasted like bologna. We even heard another waitress complaining to the manager about the food that was cooked for her table. Staff was friendly is the only positive thing I could say. If you are looking for crap food with a friendly wait staff, this is the place for you.

The food was tasteless and the waiter was so rude and you could tel he didn’t want to be there. Nothing we had was even okay, I wouldn’t feed my dog this food.

I have been coming here for many years. This place has survived and thrived for so long because they know what their customers want and they consistently deliver.
The food, while generally simple, is good. Let’s face it. If you are foodie and you want to be blown away by culinary artistry, this is not your place. If, on the other hand, you are looking for average to above average «bar food», this is the place. Pizzas, burgers, soups, salads, wraps and sandwiches are generally average to above average. The same can be said for the service. Like any establishment, this one sometimes does falter and as the previous reviews indicate, they may have some bad nights. However, it is never fair to evaluate the value of an establishment on the basis of one visit. Speaking on the basis of experience, I have had many more positive experiences than negative ones.
Roger’s Roost does what they do very well. And just what is that? They offer decent food in a casual and fun atmosphere. Before anyone had ever heard of TGI Friday’s, Roger’s Roost had the casual/​fun atmosphere vibe nailed 40 years ago.
Give it a try. There is a reason why this place has become an institution in this area.

One word… Holy cow!!! This place rocks! Great atmosphere decent food great beer! Booze is s bit over priced but the staff more than makes up for it! If you can find a server or bartender. Otherwise WOW!!! This place is DA BOMB!!! Live music golden tee great deep dish pizza! Be forwarned to have plenty of TP at home after eating the deep dish!!! Oh and free popcorn! If you see Gerry make sure to say hi, he’s my buddy! And try the fried pickles! Holy smokes they good!!!

This place has the worst customer service ever… thanks for not accommodating us. Went down to great baraboo who took great care of us. Grew up here and USED TO hit the roost every time we came back to Michigan. Not anymore.

Yesterday myself and about 15 of my co-​workers decided we wanted a fun night out. We called Roger’s Roost to see if we could reserve a table or at least give them a heads up that we were coming. The manager told us that they already had the bar area booked but would be able to give us 3 tables of five. He then told us we were NOT able to push the tables together and asked 4 times if we were sure we still wanted to come in. I took it as he didn’t want our business. You are the manager of a bar, you should want all the business you can get.
We get there and every other party has their tables pushed together except we weren’t allowed to?! Doesn’t make sense. We pushed the tables together anyway. The second I walked into the door and started heading to my group the manager rushed up to me and said «EXCUSE ME what are you looking for?!». Now, I may not work in a restaurant any more (I worked in one for 13 years and finally got out 9 months ago), but that is NOT how you approach a person who is helping your business stay open.
As we are sitting looking over the menu, we were still waiting for about 7 more people to show up, the waitress comes over and says they are on a shortage of menu’s and takes all of ours away to pass out to the other customers. Then she comes back and says «Are you ready to order yet?!». Well, no, you took our menu’s and as you can see not everyone is here yet. She came back to the table ever 2 minutes asking if we were ready yet, a little annoying.
Finally everyone gets there, we order, food is great, we finish and continue to chat and have a decent time. The server then comes back and says «do you guys want to move to the bar area because I have a date tonight and I really want to get out of here so I can go get drunk.» UM WHAT?! We get our bills, pay, my card is swiped on two different checks, my friend was owed $ 5.22 in change– the server only gave her $ 4 back. Other friend was shorted on her change too.
We go to the bar side and are not allowed in without being carded again, even though we all had drinks in our hands from dinner and was then told that we technically couldn’t bring our drinks over to the bar side. Whatever. As we are walking through the bar to find somewhere to sit the manager comes walking through, literally pushing us (physically putting his hand on my back) out of the way yelling «THIS IS THE PATHWAY FOR MY STAFF GET OUT OF THE WAY». Now– if there were servers trying to get through with food or drinks– ok that’s one thing– but there was not a single worker coming through AND we were WALKING through the bar– not just standing there.
I use to come to this bar every weekend, 7 – 8 years ago and it was NOTHING like this. I’ve never seen this manger before so I assume he is new (bald guy with a big beard) or maybe he was never allowed out on the floor because he has a piss poor attitude and no respect. But let me tell you, I don’t think myself or my group will be going back there. And that’s a shame because I use to love that place. The management and staff need a major attitude adjustment, we felt from the second we got there we were an «Inconvenience» for them.
WHAT A SHAME!

Here with my friends right now and we literally have been waiting an hour and a half for our food. It took our waitress like 20 min just to take our food order. I had to go and find her. We do have a lot of people but the amount of time for our food is just ridiculous. We just now got soups and salads an hour and a half in. Not even that crowded. Wish I would have known about this or else I would have just gone somewhere else!

Rogers Roost has gone WAY down in quality. We ordered chicken Quesadilla’s and had to send them back, they were cold, cheese wasn’t even melted. Our waiter was sub par, very slow on service, and to top it off, he was sitting 2 tables away from us eating! He would get up between bites to check on his tables. Completely unprofessional. This will be our last visit, and I will make sure to spread our experience with our friends who will soon become former customers also. I think they should have paid us just to stay.

Currently 3 stars, extra star for what it used to be. Had many great times here. They used to have karaōke on a stage with great contests, now the stage is gone and the karaōke sits in an awkward area. The bartenders act too money hungry and less helpful, but the food is still great. I still would recommend it.

Great Calzone… meat of course! It was literally 3 meals worth. Great flavor with just the right blend of ingredients. I’d definitely go back to try another one!

Rogers is a nice place and great to watch a game at. That being said, the prices are high and they advertise a «Chicago-​style» pizza. It comes in a Chicago style deep dish pan but it’s not thick like it’s suppose to be. The pizza had way too much dry crust on the ends and had a very mediocre sauce. Definitely not worth the $ 16 price tag for a small… Save your money. The chicken tortilla soup was good, but not worth coming here for.

This is the first and last time my wife and I are going to Rogers Roost.
We just went there 8÷28÷2015 apx 730−800pm
WOW, when we walked in there was 2 young girls that was not very friendly. all they said do you want patio, bar, dinning. also under there breath they said do you want popcorn. We said dining and requested a booth.
They said, let me check to see if one is clean. and there was a couple.
our server came over and ask what we would like to drink and we requested 2 sodas.
I said that we have never been here before and could I ask her about the menu and she looked at me like i was putting her out. so we picked something out ourself. She brought our salads and said let me get you some silverware.
food came out (ok), while we where eating our server never came back and ask how everything was, and we had no refills on soda.
we stopped a worker if we could get refills on sodas, he said sure and brought 1 not 2
then our server came by and ask if I wanted another pop. I said sure because I have been waiting for apx 20 min for one. I was half done with my dinner also with nothing to drink.
our server came by and ask if I would like some ketchup for my fry’s, I said I would. She never came back and I never received ketchup.
BOY, She came back to give us our bill and explain it to us with a big smile. However, I have been known to be a very good tipper, sadly this was one of my smallest tip I ever left.

It’s been a long time since I ate at Roger’s Roost. After our experience last week, I doubt I’ll return. We stopped here with our son, his girlfriend, and my brother. we started with the French onion soup, which was nothing special, but at least it wasn’t too salty. Then on to the main courses. That was when things fell apart.
My brother had an okay personal pizza. I had the walnut chicken salad, and my spouse had the walnut chicken meal. Both of our chicken pieces were overcooked. They were dry and pretty chewy. The coating was so close to burnt that it was hard to discern any flavor in the meat at all.
My son and his friend ordered the rib special, which was a full slab and a half.. My son started to eat the full slab, and after starting the first rib, he pronounced it «bad». His friend swapped her half slab with him, and that was a different cut, with more meat. It was okay, but not great. His friend barely touched the full slab of what looked like baby back ribs. While they did ask for a box, they left it in our fridge by accident (or so I thought) later. I tried the ribs two days later, knowing they would never get them in time for the ribs to be edible. Our son had it right, the ribs were BAD, as in tasting spoiled. If he had made that comment at the restaurant, I would have told him to send them back.
Not worth going there to eat, which is too bad. I had good memories of this place from about 30 years ago.

Really good food and drinks to share with the friends, can’t wait to come back on the fourth of july

Sitting here now for a family birthday dinner. The service has been terrible the entire time. Snotty waitress, rarely seen. I’ve been waiting 35 minutes for a refill. My brother in law asked for ranch for his salad around the same time. She came back twice, still no ranch, still no refill.
Chicken on any of their dishes has zero flavor, clearly bagged pre cooked GFS chicken breast.
Some of their dishes are quite good others not so much.

My family of 10 came here yesterday after a funeral.
It was around noon and we weren’t greeted by anybody for at least five minutes.
We were seated and a waitress came by to get our drunk order fairly quickly. That was the fastest service would be for the rest of our stay. Took awhile to get our drinks. Even longer to get our food orders in. And even longer to get our food.
I ordered chicken tortilla soup since I wanted to order sliders but apparently they don’t have them even though they were on the lunch special menu. Even if I had to pay more that would have been okay too. The waitress was really snooty. We didn’t get refills.
Food was good. My soup was piping hot and had lots of chicken and flavor, especially with the tortilla strips, green onions and sour cream.
The bills weren’t done correctly but at this point we didn’t care. Thankfully we all paid in cash because our waitress was nonexistent at this point.
All the other tables got free popcorn. We didn’t.
So sad we won’t be back. The food was good but service was just awful.

Nice place. Really liked the bar area a lot of tv’s! Waitress was very nice and helpful as I am desperately trying to win at Keno… Food was pretty good loved the bread! Tortilla soup hit the spot. if I didn’t drink alcohol I’d be a pretty cheap date. If I was a popcorn eater I’d even be more of a cheap date… atmosphere was nice and the place was pretty crowded… lost at Keno again :(

Clientele? Straight out of the 80s.
Drink prices? Well… you can’t have it all. Still really decent prices on everything though. Solid beer selection and a full bar.
Waitresses were attentive and seemingly always nearby when a drink was getting close to completion, so that’s a plus.
It’s a great place to just hang out and have some fun.
