This place is fabulous! The garlic paste is the best I’ve ever had. The port’s are cooked fresh in a stone oven and everything on the menu is delicious!

So good. I got a carry out and forgot to ask for a extra garlic and I was very disappointed. I got the mushroom sauté with lamb and I was amazing. My boyfriend got the chicken tawook and he said it wasn’t what he was used to. Not sure why. Anyway over all it was very good.

After a long day of existing on nothing but a protein bar and grapes(whoops), we figured it was time for something substantial right around 10 pm. Good luck finding something decent to eat at that time at night. We found it here, and it was great! Not just because we were starving, this place has genuinely realy good food. Our meal started with fluffy warm pita breads and gaaaarlic. I get a little bit excited about that garlic dip. Here, it’s balanced and reigned in a little– it isn’t as assertive and raw as at most places, which makes it much easier to eat. We also ordered a small hummus, which in reality is rather large. If you’re thinking of getting a large — dont. Two hungry people left with ¾ of the plate in a to go container. Usually I am not a fan of Lebanese style salads, something about the sourness pushes me over the edge. Now, this salad is delicious! I could eat it several times a week, it is that good. Of course, this dressing has sourness to it like they always do, but again — there is some restraint there in the flavors which I appreciate. My husband was feeling lamb kabobs, and I was feeling basic. My shawarma duo(chicken and beef) with rice and grilled vegetables was really good. The beef has different, «warmer» style spices, but the chicken is juicy and has almost like a spice crust on it. I really couldn’t tell you which I liked best, both are great. In related exciting news, I have not found one single piece of ‘weird’ meat in either mountain of meat on my plate. I usually end up with a few fatty/gross pieces, but not here. The lamb was very juicy and flavorful. It was mostly cooked perfectly, only the smaller end pieces were slightly overcooked, but not enough to be disappointed.

So, beyond my expectations, Ownership/Management contacts me to say they are making changes to the menu and training to be better able to address food allergies/intolerances. I can ask for nothing more. As I mentioned before, they are probably the best Middle Eastern restaurant in the area. I stand by this, and once Im sure I can get gluten free, I’ll visit even more often! Thank you, La Saj, for taking the time and making the effort.

Ok heard and read rave reviews– not a fan. Being Greek and having lived all over and eaten Mediterranean/middle eastern food many places — this doesn’t measure up. The falafel — awful — infused with cinnamon or garam masala –not good — the spinach pies were bread folds with a little bit of bitter under spiced spinach(and this is easy to make!!) the tabouli was fresh and the hummus good — the easy stuff — I won’t go again but for those who have a less discerning palate — I don’t think it would disappoint.

Fine dining setting with sub par utensils, just right portion and price, decently seasoned meats but the entire dish is dry. BREAD&GARLICSPREAD — great for kids to consume before orders arrive. The quick bottomless serving is much appreciated. Thank you! SPECIALTIES come with a soup or salad: SAJEE($ 16.99) — serves 2. Decent flavor on lamb and beef. Lamb is half the portion of beef with same price. Nicely grilled limited vegetables that is dry. Dish as a whole is dry. SAJIKAFTA($ 14.99) — serves 2. An impressive thickness of ground lamb and beef on a line, not on a skewer. Few unnecessary add-ins. VEGGIEDELIGHT($ 12.98) — skip it. Overpriced. FALAFEL is moist, nicely done. SPINACHPIE is sour whose spinach looked like grape leaves. GRAPELEAVES is mixed with rice with a sour taste. DESSERT portion is good for one. Truly sweet that stops you from overindulgence. RICEPUDDING($ 2.59) — superbly creamy and thick, good balance of ingredients. BAKLAVA($ 2.99) — you get 2 pieces, 1 – 2 bites each. A fine dining version. Delicious! WHITECHOCOLATERASPBERRYCHEESECAKE($ 4.99) — price appropriate for portion. Whoa! An American cheesecake. Raspberry syrup is too sweet. CUSTOMERSERVICE — a bit contradictory to fine dining as self serving pitcher of water is placed on table. Pack your own brown bag. :-(When it’s busy, you feel guilty hanging around. Boss Man barks at Staff(need a headset?). Service staff works as a team.

I have to say, this is a great joint! They’ve come up in multiple conversations, and I’ve driven by a million times, just never had the motivation to pay a visit, until recently. To be quite frank, I drove over to Sahara(my go-to) and while parked in the lot, felt the need to open my Unilocal app. And there she was, La Saj staring me in the face. Coincidence? Maybe… Do I care? Not really! lol Let’s get down to business. When you first walk in, you might be a bit confused, as this place is the epitome of «White Tablecloth». However, as many nicely dressed people you’ll see, there are just as many wearing t-shirts and hats. Maybe it’s a Detroit thing? Not sure… The food is fantastic, especially their never-ending basket of bread. The Shawarma comes in a wrap versus a plate, which I think may be a bit deceiving. Nonetheless, it’s fantastic. We also had a plate of Grape Leaves and Falafel. The quality of the food is fantastic and you can tell they’re using nothing but high quality ingredients. Would I change anything? Not really, except, a lunch menu would be great!

. I’m gluten intolerant and I always play it safe when I am unsure if I can eat somewhere or something. But my mother in law loves this place and it was her birthday so this was where she wanted to go. I called ahead of time and asked about their meals in regards to gluten. The girl who answered their phone put me on to check. When she came back she assured me they didn’t have gluten in the meal. We went to the restaurant and my husband wanted to order falafel as an appetizer. I know it’s fried so I asked the waitress about how they do it knowing some places will have separate oils for different things and some places done. She went back and checked with the cooks who confirmed it was safe. I only had 1. I ordered chicken kabob. I of course didn’t eat any of the bread. About half way through my meal I started not to feel good. We barely made it home and I was sick the rest of the night. I don’t understand how restaurants can not be knowable about allergens and what’s in foods. Anyways if you’re gluten intolerant or have a sensitivity to it AVOID this place regardless of what they tell you!!! Sick for days! Also my husband ordered beef tenderloins and said it was mediocre at best. He said he wasn’t impressed and didn’t care if we ever went back. Thankfully he doesn’t love the place since I can’t eat there!

This place is just great. My husband and I come here very frequently, one of our favorite places. The food is always so so fresh, we’ve never had anything bad here. La Saj has the BEST garlic dip I’ve ever had! The service is TOPNOTCH, the waiters are great! The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and stands out above so many other middle eastern restaurants. They are very reasonably priced for the quality of their food. The only negative is the limited parking on a busy night, but it’s still a great place!

I ordered a variety of shwarmas and dips from here for a birthday party as we wanted to get away from the standard«pizza and cake» menu and let me just say our guest were very happy with the change. The shwarmas were tasty, the hummous had great flavor, and I am not a baba ganooush fan but this was so good even I ate some. But it wasn’t just the food that earns them 5 stars. The service from the first phone call to pick up was impeccable. I called the day before and the woman who took my order was not only polite but very helpful when I asked her opinion. Then when I picked up my order I had quite a few servers and even the hostess offer to help me load my order into my car. I had never been here prior to this and only picked it because I had heard the food was good and every time I drive passed it the parking lot is packed! Well now I know why and I will definetly be back!

I have been to the place a few times. It is an upscale middle easter restaurant. The food has always been good. I mostly enjoy their chicken shawerma. The cool thing about dining in a middle eastern restaurant is that you know your food will come with soup or salad, and garlic sauce. The prices are average for this type of restaurants and food. Usually you will pay anywhere from 12 to 15 dollars for a lot of food. You are almost always guaranteed to have leftovers if you order an entrée. The atmosphere is quite comforting and the waiters are always nice.

Came here for dinner for the first time today after reading the reviews here on Unilocal.I like Lebanese food, and was looking forward to coming here and trying this place out. Glad I did! The food was great! Service was very attentive. Granted it was only a Monday night, but Mondays at restaurants can equate to slower service then going somewhere on a Saturday night. Our server took good care of us. Meals include fresh baked bread with toom. Ordered the large hummus as an appetizer as well, it was delicious. The four of us in our party split two chicken shawarma sandwiches, and everyone in our party like the food. Granted, the other three in my party were kids, and one of them this was her first time adds a Middle East restaurant. But who doesn’t like chicken shawarma sandwiches There is a reason this place gets such good reviews, because the food is good. The décor was nice, they had cloth napkins and linen tablecloth. Footed water glasses too. Will definitely be coming back here when I need to eat in the area. Looking forward to trying out their new location in Troy.

I come here at least 2 or 3 times a month for dine-in and/or carry-out. I usually get their chicken kabob with double veggies. Their fattoush salad is AWESOME, their hummus is my absolute favorite, and their garlic sauce is phenomenal. I have had their chicken shwarma a few times as well and it is the best shwarma I have ever had. I have recommended this place to all my family and friends and their experiences are just as great as mine. My family and I now choose La Saj for all our birthday celebrations as it has a huge room in the back that accommodates many parties. I have been here well over 25 times and every single time I have had an amazing experience(that is rare). One server we frequently have is named Menar(spelling is probably incorrect), but he is the BEST. He is friendly, thorough, consistent, and really has great all around customer service. GOODJOBLASAJ!

I’ve been here once and am craving to go back. The garlic dipping sauce/yogurt with the pita bread they give you at the table is unreal and unlimited. The bar is fill service with a thick drink menu. The shawarma, the lamb, the fattosh salad. All amazing. That salad. Drool. I like the beef shawarma better than the chicken. It just has a better taste to it. Bold flavors. The hummus wasn’t anything special yet it was available. Along with a very large menu. It was difficult to choose just one meal item. The restaurant could actually be bigger. I think they could handle the traffic based on what I saw on a very busy Sunday night. They take reservations and have a a lovely larger ares in the back for large parties.

Still a great place to come to; however, when we arrived it must have been shift change, because you could hear servers and hosts arguing about who was going to take what tables. That was a let down, even if they weren’t talking about us. Also, the tabbouleh was much better this time. The Fatoosh Salad was still not very good though. Also not good was the Kibee Nayhee. Flavorful, yes, but it just didn’t knock it out of the park. The service was quite good again. I’m sorry I don’t remember the young guy’s name. Still, I’d go to Ike’s any day over any other place for pure quality and taste, but this is a nice date place, or place to go when you are single and want to hang with the boys, but not at a «bar.»

I feel as if this place is overrated. The garlic dip and pita(free) were pretty good, but our main dish(chicken shawarma) was mediocre. If you ever had the chicken shawarma from Bucharest, be prepared to be disappointed. Although, my meal wasn’t subpar, it was cheap(only 4.50)! The interior of the restraunt was eye appealing and the service was above average.
