I was looking for a coffee place on the main drag area, found this place and was surprised to find they were also a book store. They had all types of new books and all sections of bargain books, as well as little gifts. The coffee really wasn’t anything to write home about but it was decent. The service was pretty good as well.

I love this place. So great to spend time in, friendly people, great atmosphere, the works. Good coffee. One thing: «Sorry for the inconvenience, we will be closed because: **We know you hate Mondays and really need your coffee on Monday morning, so we close on Mondays sometimes. **We know you are leaving for your vacation tomorrow and purposefully did not purchase a book on Amazon so that you could patron our store. . so we closed for inventory. Now you can buy an expensive book at the airport. **It is the second Tuesday after the third full moon.(Or some other random crap) «Thank you for your understanding.» NOPE. Not understanding. I feel like it is a 25% chance this place will be closed when I try to go there. Makes me want to give up. You don’t have to close to do inventory, or because it is mud season, or for ANYTHING really. I want to love your store. .. but I am not feeling the love back every time I find that closed sign with a random excuse on the door.

Pretty awesome little coffee shop with a great selection of books for kids and adults! The coffee was pretty delicious, although I’d prefer mine a bit sweeter. They have honey, sugar, cocoa, and cinnamon on the side to add into your coffee if needed. The atmosphere is pretty nice, a little crowded, but it’s a small shop with lots of things to shop for so it’s expected to be somewhat crowded. There is an upstairs location to do some work and also a few tables on the first level. The internet is quick without needing a password. Definitely coming back to try out a few other lattes! Also, they’ve got butter beer!!! Lol not how I imagined it would taste, but definitely cool to try it out! Customer service was great and overall a pleasant atmosphere for coffee, reading, and getting some work done.

What a unique bookstore — the décor alone is worth dropping in

Sitting in this wonderful spot as I type. Normally I am not the type to immediately write reviews, but the friendliness of the baristas is my motivation. Seriously, the nicest folks I have met behind the counter in ages. And my chai latte is delicious. 5 stars!

Awesome bookstore, café, reading nook combination. Great drinks, even better food, and friendly knowledgable staff. Good place to go if you’re working on that novel or are trying to get away from the tourist hustle and bustle. They also have alcoholic drinks!

A Steamboat treasure … been a fan since my first trip to Steamboat in 1999. They have moved since then(a sad day since the old building was phenomenal), but the new location is just down from Lyons Drug(Soda fountain). It is a great place to relax, take the kids, grab a coffe or a quick treat, stay for a while or pop in and out … but they are definitely worth the stop!

I go to a lot of coffee shops. Every new city I go to I try to find the best coffee in town. This is the BEST coffee in Steamboat Springs. We also bought books for our kids and some hot chocolate. I recommend taking time out of your day to include this place in your plans. Five stars from me.

Quaint little spot! Nothing beats local retailers. OTBP has an expansive collection of new, older & used titles, great knick knacks and even better coffee & treats. The icing on the cake? the nook in the children’s area. Super creative.

Whenever traveling, I seek out the best local coffee shops to sample their coffee, espresso, service, and overall ambiance. Off the Beaten Path certainly represents the best of all these things. This quaint coffee shop within a book store is nestled just a few steps off the main street of Steamboat Springs. I sampled a variety of coffee drinks including a mint mocha, spiced latte, and vanilla hazelnut latte. These tasty espresso drinks were delicious and paired with the unique atmosphere, I highly recommend this downtown spot.

We are on a cross country road trip and we happened upon the unsuspecting town of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Little did the staff at Off The Beaten Path coffee house know what was in store for them: ME! As soon as I came up to the register at the coffee-and-drinks side of the bookstore, I was so politely greeted by Theodora the barista. She kindly answered my questions and put up with my many special requests for a custom made iced mocha. It was excellent! I was welcome to sit down and spend some time doing a lot of writing without being pressured by the staff to buy anything else, without being bothered for any reason. What a great place with a friendly atmosphere and an awesome book selection.

We loved visiting this bookstore, and for a small town book seller, they really do it right. We both love books and enjoy going to bookstores like this one because you can often find things on the shelf that you would not find at other book sellers. This one has copies of the most recent releases, in fact they have a full section just for new releases so that you can easily go in an browse what is new. One are that I always want to see, is their cookbooks and Off the Beaten Path has a great cookbook section. I was very impressed with the number of local cookbooks that they carried. There were three that were specific to Steamboat, and then the staff directed me to two other choices that were very unique to Ski Towns that I had never seen before. They also have a great kids section. If you are going to be in town for a while in the summer they have a fascinating program for kids called Books on Ranches. All the kids read a common book, and they they have day camp activities throughout the week that put the book into life. The group this week is going to get to go rafting. How cool is that, a bookstore with an amazing summer camp that promotes reading. This is really a gem in Steamboat and if you are a reader you need to make sure that you head here and spend some time enjoying the shopping experience.

I entered and immediately was in love! The variety of books is astounding, and the little loft area upstairs, which houses used books, was so adorable and cool. You can sit up there, read, & drink coffee from the little café area downstairs! I bought two novels and also left with two Off the Beaten Path bookmarks that were placed in my purchases at checkout. The bookmarks are sturdy, too! I highly recommend that you visit this store if you are a book lover who can spend long periods of time browsing. That’s sure what I did.

A really nice cozy bookstore. The workers look like they’re having a lot of fun is a really nice environment to be in. I would totally recommend it to everyone and they have a wide selection of books in a coffee shop. One of my favorite shops in town.

This coffee shop/bookstore is fantastic! Great coffee– many options, new and used books, and tables to sit at. They also have a great baked goods and foods section. Definitely worth a trip in here if you are staying in Steamboat!

Posted this today after I found it in my «unfinished reviews» bin… This experience was from last summer, so maybe they found some friendly help by now? Beautiful space. Really unfriendly barista. I guess her day was bad, but GOODLORD. No wonder there is a «help wanted sign»…

Can I pick this place up and bring it back to Denver with me? Please? I LOVE this cute little book store tucked off on a side road in Steamboat Springs, if you are a bookworm like I am then this place will immediately fill your heart with warm fuzzies the moment you walk in. It smells like Coffee, Books… and happy. I wanted to clear the entire place and go through it on my own without any distractions. However this place was busy, there were people upstairs in the loft, people eating, drink, talking in hushed tones and then me and my kids, Ohhhing and Ahhhhing as we crawled into the kids hiding place that is painted like book covers with chairs and stuffed animals. We talked about the«Create your own adventure» section and when we left, we did it after my husband gave me «the look» because he and the boy were bored. I could have stayed all day, curled up and reading. Don’t miss this place. It is worth it… and take a book lover with you, no one else will understand. Bonus magic: As we were leaving my daughters found a ladybug resting on a stool near the checkout counter. They picked it up and took it outside… it added to the magic the trip.
