I ate here with a few friends for Mother’s Day and I really have to say, even though they were pretty busy everyone there was on top of «it». Drinks, replenishing the buffet, refilling waters, cooking the omelets and waffles that were cooked upon order. Everything just… flowed. They have a gorgeous set up there! The dining room is breathtaking and there is plenty of light and windows. You never saw any employees just standing around chatting, they were always busy busy busy doing whatever they could to make Mom’s day special! Kudos to Tiger Ridge for being such a fantastic experience!

We held our rehearsal dinner at Tiger Ridge and it was an excellent experience! When looking for places to hold it, we liked this venue the best for a couple reasons: 1. They have a large, private room, almost like a loft, upstairs. It has its own bar and restroom. 2. No charge to rent the above room. 3. Reasonable price for the meal per person. We decorated the tables ourselves and it looked quite nice. There are a couple windows in the room to let light in, and enough space for 60 – 70 people. We had about 45 and it worked out very well in terms of space. We started with a veggie plate and a cheese plate, which were HUGE! Very fresh and good. Then we moved on to the Italian buffet. It had salad, three types of pasta(chicken alfredo, pasta con broccoli, and spaghetti with meatballs), garlic bread, and we also added a mixed veggie dish, which wasn’t included in the original buffet. The food was good! Everyone enjoyed it. The dessert was an Italian cake, which also was quite tasty. We had wine and beer, both Crown Valley brand(the winery/brewery that owns Tiger Ridge). They were good! The service was good and we had a great time in a great space.

We bought the Groupon for a gift certificate and tour for 2 of the tiger sanctuary, and came by for our 4:30 appointment. It’s a long way out of Saint Louis, but the drive once you get off the highway is just gorgeous. The whole place is very nicely appointed. They started us out with drinks at the bar, which reminded me of the tiger sanctuary /lodge we went to in India several years ago. Most people were dressed up, as befits the restaurant(and not a safari :-)And then a young intern led us on a tour of the paddocks where the tigers are kept. It’s really neat to see the animals up close. The Lioness was roaring up a storm, and my wife commented that she couldn’t help the instinctual raising of hairs on the nape of her neck. The guide was very well informed, and it was an unique tour before dinner. I thinks kids would enjoy it, although they might be disappointed that it’s so short(30 minutes) Dinner itself was surprisingly good. The squash blossoms were great, and I had the risotto, which was wonderful although a little heavy on the sauce. They serve wines from their winery 10 miles up the road. The restaurant is not actively trying to be kid-friendly, but there were a couple middle-school age kids eating with their parents who seemed to have a fine time. It’s quite expensive, and for the money you would get a better meal in Saint Louis. Still, it’s a great cap to a nice afternoon in wine country. It made us nostalgic for our frequent trips to Dundee when we lived in Portland.
