We had the light tea here. The savory tart was absolutely delicious! We also had finger sandwiches and especially enjoyed the hummus sandwich with sprouts and carrots. The desserts were also great. I enjoyed a pot of Portland Peach tea, which was just perfect. The customer service was great and attentive, we really enjoyed our light tea here, the amount of food was perfect for my daughter and I, and we were able to take the dessert treats home we couldn’t finish to enjoy later. Overall great food and service all the way! Thank You!

Love the food. Love the stories. Love supporting a local family run business. Great menu choices and, along with staples, there are seasonal options. They obviously care about using quality ingredients(and the coconut cake is OMGosh delicious… I shouldn’t say that, now there won’t be any there for me: o) I drive out from Salem, bringing my husband, friends, and my mom(who is their biggest fan) just because it’s worth the drive!

We went here for high tea and loved the attentive service and attention to detail in the preparation of the tea and food.

The hubby and I wanted to have a nice breakfast before departing for home and were looking for somewhere we had never been. We found the Gardner House. Filled with tea serving sets, antiques, and tons of nifty things to look at, the Gardner House was a wonderfully different experience. Firstly: Excellent French toast. If there’s one thing I love for breakfast, it’s French toast. To find a truly delicious slice in a restaurant setting is great! The vanilla butter on the side was a nice surprise — I usually never use butter, but this was good enough to use half of! We both enjoyed the fresh brewed coffee, it was just right — not too strong and not too weak. My husband said his corned beef hash was tasty and had no complaints, other than the whole experience was a little fancy and foo-foo(well, it is a tea house!). We got a couple fresh baked scones to go and were pleased, my lavender lemon scone was really good.

I would give the food five stars but I can’t say the same for the management. When I go to lunch with my lady friends, I look forward to a quiet nice lunch. I do not expect to have politics crammed down my throat. I have been here twice and both times he has felt the need to give us his opinion on politics and I don’t appreciate it. I will not return.

The family went here for the first time today and definitely plan on returning. The kids thought the«fancy» hot chocolate was great, Husband enjoyed his coffee, and my chai latte was amazing. The kids had vanilla French toast topped with fresh fruit, Husband had the Hearty Breakfast Panini, and I had the Loni’s Favorite with bacon. Everything was made fresh and was delicious. Even our 3 year old cleared his plate and he’s a picky eater! While waiting for the food, the owner took us on a mini-tour. He was very friendly and professional. We plan on returning to try the lunch menu.

Just when you think Stayton started to loose it’s charm, BAAAM, this place comes to town. At first, Madeline(below) and I went to check it out, and the family chatted our ears off about their life. They are some really nice people — making it harder to not support local business. the downfall is that the food is so good, you’ll never know what to get! the food. oh. my. god. it doesn’t even matter what they are selling because honestly, it all tastes like the best food you’ll ever eat in this life. and the next. they should have a food roulette option because it would just make things easier for everyone. The atmosphere, while nice and calm, is a little old-time-y for me. I’m not a big fan of the Victorian décor, per se, but I think that it does blend well with town. It would be nice if they maybe spent some time to work on the outside eating area so when the summer/early fall comes around. There is so much outdoor space — the possibilities are endless! If the owner’s can read this — adding WiFi would make me want to spend all day there!(and eat)

the Gardner House is a lovely spot for breakfast or lunch. My favorite place afor a lunch with friends. We own the antique store down the street and always recommend lunch at the Gardner House. Wonderful food, lovely atmosphere. What a treat in our little town!

Perhaps no business on Unilocal deserves five stars more than Gardner House Café and Bed & Breakfast in Stayton. This delightful establishment is housed in a Victorian house complete with a gazebo in the front yard. The interior is decorated with memorabilia from the owner’s families. There is even a piece of the moon on display at Gardner House. Woohoo this is as good as it gets! Actually, that isn’t true. It gets even better! The café is open for breakfast and lunch. The menu features homemade pastries, soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts. The tea menu is immense and includes all sorts of fascinating tea blends . Service here is friendly, caring, and personalized. The homemade soups are to die for. In my opinion Gardner House Café makes the best Reuben sandwich in the state. The apple pie looks like it was made from an entire crate of apples. Hearty, thick, and absolutely delicious. After a bowl of soup, a sandwich, and a slice of pie I couldn’t eat and didn’t want to eat anything else for the rest of the day . Word has it that Gardner House Café and Bed & Breakfast might be sold or given away in some sort of contest. Hope that isn’t true. If you’re in the area you owe it to yourself to stop in at the Gardner House Café and Bed & Breakfast.

I have lived in Stayton for decades and remember this location as a Florist(In fact there is still a stained glass window over the entry door that reads FLORIST when you walk in). Now it is and has been a small bed and breakfast with a bistro type restaurant for about 7 years. I never thought to stop in until yesterday while I was walking around downtown Stayton. I had a hankerin for a Latte and they had ‘em. When I walked in, memories flooded my mind from being a teen and going here to buy my mother flowers for mother’s day. The setup is exactly the same, albeit with tables for sitting instead of display. I was greeted warmly by the owner, Jim, and he gave me a run down of the flavors he had for Latte’s. I opted for an ‘almond joy’ and chose an orange cranberry scone to compliment it. I was not disappointed in either. The Latte was just the right temperature with a layer of creamy foam on top. The Scone was moist and not too sweet. Scones are a difficult thing to get right. Most I have had are too dry and either too sweet or not sweet enough, but this one was fabulous. I took a few minutes to visit with the owners and learned the ‘bed’ part of the bed and breakfast was one room and typifies the BnB experience. While visiting with Jim, I learned his father was an Apollo astronaut and there are numerous pictures of him in the establishment along with mementos of the various space flights and moon landings including a piece of a moon rock! When you go in, take the time to examine all the pictures on the walls. It is a veritable history lesson in photographs! A VERY odd thing is that this restaurant, property, BnB, and house are the prize in a very unique contest. Very soon there will be a website up where you can submit an essay, recipe and a $ 300 entry fee. The winner will walk away with the entire business, fully stocked and ready to roll! Not a bad way to spend $ 300! When you go to Stayton, you have to try the Gardner House Café and Bed & Breakfast!

We happened to stumble upon this BnB only because the other one we were looking at stay at was all booked and boy am I glad we stumbled. This house exemplifies what a BnB should be. The owners are extremely pleasant and welcoming. The space is extremely large with a circular room with a queen size bed, plenty of space, tv, dvd/vcr and sitting area. Also included is a kitchenette with mini fridge and full bathroom. We felt like we were staying with family when we checked into the room. Wifi is included so you can plan your day trips. We took a trek to silver falls as well as some vineyards in the area. The other benefit of staying here is that breakfast is included in your stay and might I add what a wonderful breakfast they serve here. Tons of pastries, muffins, omlets, pancakes and other breakfast options as well as lots of tea choices. Not only are there lots of options but the food is exceptional and quite tasty. I had pancakes and some fresh fruit and they were just wonderful. There may not be a lot of things nearby in Stayton buf if you are headed for a trip into the Portland wine country, this BnB offers a wonderful alternative to the hotels in Salem and I highly recommend staying here.

Tea or coffee, they have a good selection and good hardware for those specialty drinks. We were recommend to try the house blend tea and it was as good as they suggested but they had 30’something different kinds. The breakfast was wonderful and the presentation was also good, not something you expect from a small town eatery. We both ordered the stuffed french toast topped with bananas and blueberries with a side of bacon. On the way out we got a to-go cup of coffee which was very good and kept us warm while strolling downtown.

THISISTHEBESTPLACETOEATINSTAYTON, HANDSDOWN, BY A MILLIONPOINTS, DON’T GOANYWHEREELSEIFYOUDON’T HAVETO. Whem, okay, there I said it. And it’s true! All of it! Go for tea, go for lavender scones(trust me on this), go for Reubens, go for perfect soup, go for ambiance(one of Stayton’s oldest houses built by its most important citizen), go for coffee, go for the gazebo, but most of all, go before it’s gone. The owners are contemplating a move in the future, and that will be a depressing day for ol’ Staytonia. So get it while it lasts, folks, Stayton needs more restaurants like this.

Great B&B room and Great Breakfast/Lunch café attached. They have wonderful pastries and breakfast items. Really good tea choices too. Their B&B room has a kitchen, huge bedroom and for a nominal one time fee you can have a well behaved dog stay with you. I Love when I can travel with my dog and appreciate it when places will accommodate him. Very gracious hosts too; so we highly recommend this lovely home.
