Schweppe’s River Fish Lounge

It’s closed. Pulled up for breakfast and the signs were gone, no lights, nothing.
How sad as this was a really great place.

Great fish. I grew up in Arkansas and love catfish & buffalo. Very fast service at lunch.

Classic fish shack. Soaps on the tube, Kenny Rogers on the jukebox, a jukebox, and a slab of catfish that won’t fit on the plate let alone the bun! Great crew, great food, great price.

Great food and great prices. I had the pork tenderloin, and the breading was excellent. My wife loved the catfish sandwich. Homemade cole slaw and homemade tartar sauce.

We have had seafood around the world and this friend catfish sandwich was one of the best pieces of fried fish that I’ve ever tasted! One of the other reviewers was exactly right. The fish was perfectly crispy without being greasy. My husband ordered a cheeseburger that was perfectly delicious, but after he took a bite of my fish sandwich, he said, «WOW! I totally should have ordered that!» The best part about this sandwich was that it only cost $ 5.99!!! That was for the sandwich, vinegar based cole slaw, and crispy french fries! The fish was definitely about 8 oz. of fish and the squishy hamburger bun was a perfect compliment to the crispy fish. The bread didn’t overpower the fish and the bread to fish ratio was perfect! Our service was also superb and well worth the 5 minute detour off I-​55! My kids ordered the breakfast special for $ 3.99 (toast, 2 eggs, bacon, and sausage)!!! Their eggs were perfect and you just couldn’t beat the deal. It wasn’t busy when we went (10:30 am on a Sunday morning), but I have a feeling they’re packed on Friday nights. If they had 4.5 stars I’d mark them down on their coffee, but the fish was so good that I forgot about the bad coffee and just ordered a Diet Coke.

This is THE place to eat fish! I highly recommend the fritters. Crunchy & delicious. Very friendly staff that make you feel welcome.

Found this place from a sign on I-​55. Our waitress was adorable! Really personable. I had the breakfast special. 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and buttered wheat toast. It cost $ 3.99! Insane! Everything was cooked perfectly. I also ordered a hubcap pancake on the side. It may have been the most delicious pancake my husband and I have ever had. Batter was just like mom used to make. Husband got a cheeseburger– looked amazing. He scarfed it right down! If you’re anywhere near Edwardsville, IL make sure you look for the highway sign to this place! Its adorable, inexpensive, and very good!

Best breakfast and lunch in the area. Awesome catfish. Schweppe’s is a great bike ride destination using the MCT bike trail.

What a great find! These folks know how to cook fish. I read the first review here and thought I’d give it a try on a trip between St Louis and Chicago. The reviewer was spot on. Loved it!
