My wedding hall has a contract with them. They place needs a renovation thats one, two my tasting didn’t go to well lets start with the part where they were not very professional and they didn’t really show me my options. Basically we were given the samples which they were nothing special and told to do the rest at the hall. Not a great experience. Will not recommend them.

Went there this morning,(this morning being Sunday) on a recommendation from a friend. I wanted to buy some St. Josephs Pastry and my friend said that St. Josephs was one of «Renatos» specialty. Well, I would have to say, he was right on the money. They were very light, substantial in size and quite delicious. Will be going back there in the near future to sample some of their other enticing pastries, cookies and cakes they had on display… I hope to make this my regular Pastry Shop…

Very Sad… I came here to pick up a cake for a reservation I had at 6pm. The cake was supposed to be done at 5pm. I came after 5pm to speak to a rude girl who didn’t even apologize for my cake not being on time. They told me the boss is the one making my cake and must have made a mistake about the time it was due and he is home and will come and design the cake. I waited OVER30 mins for a flipping cake. 1. What!!! 2. What kind of customer service is this? 3. The employee didn’t even sound remorseful that it was not done on time. 4. I had to cancel my reservation because I was not going to get from Staten Island to Brooklyn in time. Can’t believe the f****y of this bakery 5. I will not be giving the bakery any of my service. Nor will I recommended this bakery to anyone. Customer service is key to everything. If the custom service would’ve been up to par. I would’ve reconsidered even putting up a review. On top of it all the«boss» couldn’t even come out and say anything. Absolutely ridiculous! Ridiculous.

My wedding cake came from Renato’s. It was gorgeous and each layer was delicious! The real review here is how the cake held up after one year of being frozen. We froze the top tier of our cake to save and eat on our 1st Anniversary which was yesterday. The cake tasted like it was fresh from the bakery! I was amazed. My whole family ate the cake along with my husband and I. It was chocolate cake with chocolate mousse, yum!

Renato’s Bakery made the cake for my daughter’s sweet sixteen. It was not only BEAUTIFUL it was so DELICIOUS!!! The owner, Michael, was incredibly nice when dealing with my daughter — told her to enjoy her party & make magical memories, and not to worry about the cake — he would make her a beautiful cake — and did he ever! He patiently worked with her choosing the right flowers, found the castle she wanted, and drew up a pretty design«fit for a princess». It wasn’t just a pretty cake, it TASTEDGREAT too! A few days after the party I received a call from the bakery checking in to make sure everything was ok. A wonderful experience with Renato’s Bakery. I highly recommend!

I stopped in here to get a loaf of Italian bread and saw how delicious their cookies looked and decided to get some. When I asked the employee if the cookies or chocolate were made with nuts they replied«I don’t know». Two girls were working yet service was ridiculously slow. Only one girl helped the customers while the other stood around drinking her soda. Once I was helped I proceeded to pay with a twenty dollar bill and the employee gave me a nasty look and asked if I had any smaller bills because they barely had any change in the register. She then gave me the wrong change. The bread and cookies were delicious but I would never go back to this bakery.

Renato’s Bakery made my wedding cake a few years ago. The hotel where we had the wedding had a contract with Renato’s & so we went with them rather than going with our original choice, Alfonso’s Bakery. My wedding cake wasn’t very appealing, visually; but it tasted great & so I wasn’t disappointed. A few weeks later, we had a dinner party to attend & decided to get pastries from Renato’s. We told the staff that we would love to thank the baker, Michael, if he was available. Ten minutes later, Michael comes out of the kitchen & was extremely rude to us. We were so embarrassed, the bakery had other patrons waiting in line who witnessed the incident. The staff saw how insulted we were & tried to defuse the situation by explaining that it was just his personality. I understand how busy & stressful it can be to run a successful business, but customer service is everything! I made it a point to thank all of our vendors for their help on our wedding day, Renato’s was the only vendor that stunned me with their lack of manners. Running a business is more than just selling a product, it’s how you present it along with service. When a customer returns to say thank you, be gracious and say your welcome rather than act condescending. It’s a shame because we planned on getting the same cake every year for our Anniversary from Renato’s, but after that embarrassing experience, I never returned. I would rather go to a bakery where my business is appreciated. And with all the great bakeries to choose from in the Island, I can’t say I regretted my decision.

My favorite place so far for lobster tails and St Joseph pastry. I’ve been here before and always got great cakes and pastries. They aren’t cheap but they aren’t expensive. If you live by the old adage… you get what you pay for. You won’t be disappointed I spent about $ 88 which I kinda didn’t plan to… but before I left, the owner hands me an Irish soda bread and says THISISFORYOU for the ride home… which kinda makes the $ 88…not seem so bad !!! What did it cost her? Peanuts… Customer loyalty … PRICELESS !!! Yeah… I’m definitely hooked !!! And YES… the Irish soda bread… NEVERMADEITHOME !!!

A good bakery in what I’m learning is a bakery Mecca of the northeast(here’s to you Staten Island!). The cases are well stocked with a variety of bakery treats. Butter cookies, cannoli shells waiting to be filled, assorted Danish and turnovers, as well as cakes and pies. This bakery also offered some refrigerated items that most bakeries don’t supply, though they make complete sense. Tartufo, fruit shells filled with sorbet, and one other awesome looking item I forget the name of(it looked like a tower of cream puffs covered in a chocolate glaze). I got a few cookies to take home. They were good, but not fabulous. I tried a jelly sandwich cookie(you know — butter cookies sandwiched together with the end dipped in chocolate and sprinkles). The weird thing to me was that it used apricot jelly. I love apricot jelly, but realized I’ve never had it used in this cookie before. My raspberry standard is just too engrained to be broken now. Sesame cookie was good for those who don’t like very sweet things. 6 cookies came to $ 3.90 not terrible since I did get larger /heavier ones. The cakes look phenomenal and I’d happily try them(and that tartufo!) one day. Service was prompt and friendly. I didn’t get super jazzed about the cookie situation, which is the only thing holding back the next star.

They didn’t follow the instruction for the ribbon colors we wanted for our wedding cake and i even wrote exactly how i wanted it. I gave them the cake topper. They didn’t put the cake topper on our wedding cake. it was a big disappointment that they didn’t follow the instructions. However the taste was good.

I recently had my wedding cake and rehearsal dinner cake from Renato’s. I had a good experience with my wedding cake(which is the one that matters most) and a not-so-great experience with the cake I ordered for my rehearsal dinner. My wedding cake was beautiful — exactly what I wanted and it tasted delicious! I ordered a four tier, round cake, with an ivory exterior and white lace trimming. The interior was a red velvet cake with a French cream and chocolate moose filling — yum! I am very happy with how my wedding cake turned out. The cake I ordered for my rehearsal dinner was good except it wasn’t what I ordered. I confirmed several times on the phone exactly what we were ordering. I asked for a custom made cheesecake cake for 20 people and I instead got some kind of a chocolate cake. While the cake I tasted was good, I was disappointed I did not receive the cake I ordered and I was also disappointed in the response I received when I called the store to speak with someone about the mishap. I’m giving 3 stars because my wedding cake was perfect. Although my other experience wasn’t as great, I would order from here again and give Renato’s another chance.

Just got back from this place and I must say they some pretty good pastries. I was introduced to this place by my future father in law and I’ve been going ever since they have a decent selection being how small the place is but it’s still good would definitely recommend it.

I got my wedding cake from Renato’s(as they are the vendor associated with the Renaissance). I went for a tasting and brought ribbon and brooches I wanted attached to the cake. I gave the baker a folder with pictures showing exactly what I wanted. The cake at the tasting was delicious. This was one part of the wedding that I was really looking forward to. I guess on the way to the hall the top of the cake must have hit something in the van and gotten smushed because they took ribbon I provided to go around each layer and awkwardly put it on top of the cake to try to disguise the messed up parts. You could still see some damage though. The cake just looked bad. I printed out all these pictures and bought adornments and in the end my cake looked terrible. I was extrememly dissapointed. I felt like they should have called me to apologize. I know the hall called to tell them that my cake was damaged. I didnt want money back or anything but an apology would have been appropriate. I really liked the baker and the people that worked there so I held off on writing this review but I wouldnt want another bride to go through what I did.

With Renato’s its a hit or miss. You either get the cakes/cookies early or when freshly baked and you’ll be in heaven. If you get the cookies/cakes late or by the end of the week you may get a few stale pieces here and there. Still you can’t help walk by this place and not stop in. The lovely aroma of Italian pasties lures you in. Oh and they don’t take cards. Cash only. ATM inside store only charges $ 1.00. Not bad.

It’s Okay… But that’s all Renato’s has going for them. Their pastries are sub-par, and the service was slightly stuck up. You’re not gonna experience the most delectable baked goods in the world here — just simply mediocre Italian pastries with above average pricing. The only good about Renato’s is the way it smells. Nothing is quite as welcoming as the smell of pastries baking away :)
