The best emergency midnight plan on the island for food or hangout. If you stay long enough, you are pretty much guaranteed to make some memories or learn something about your friends you never knew. Also, there’s a munchies menu!

We had breakfast here, and while I haven’t been here in years, I’ll admit some of the reviews had me scared to go back. Especially those of cleanliness as I made the mistake of reading them as I was ready to order my food. From my observance the place was clean! The place looks the same after all these years. Aside from the reviews saying all the servers were mean, our server was very nice! The breakfast we had wasn’t the best, but it leaves you satisfied. My advice is to keep it simple. I know there’s a lot of options on the menu.

The bacon is awesome! I went during the week in the morning and it was pretty quiet. So I got quick service.

Been here a few times but not my choice, just went along with the crowd. Didn’t like it each time. Food lacks flavor and does not look appetizing. I think they use low quality ingredients and zero effort to make it taste good.

My wife and I fell in love with this place after our first visit. The food is good, and the service is really remarkable. We like the staff and the food. Also, their pricing is reasonable.

I have 2 steadfast rules when eating at a diner: 1. never get the fish 2. never try multi-cultural menu items/specials. Mike’s is a Greek diner with a Mexican chef. the furthest I venture is a souvlaki sandwich or platter depending on my appetite. you can screw up a souvlaki. As far as ambience mikes sports all the familiar trapping of a local diner in SI(hell mike owns just about all the diners out here anyway): faux marble Formica, etched glass and wall mounted TVs showing soccer games and game shows. is it the best diner I’ve ever eaten at? not by a long shot, and I write this my souvlaki sandwich showed up and the meat was burnt. Guess I was wrong. you can screw up a souvlaki

Wasn’t too busy, service was fast. We ordered eggs with cheese. They use Kraft singles. Last I checked, processed cheese is not real cheese. I ordered soulavki wrap. Not bad but suppose to come with Cole slaw and pickles. Nope, didn’t get them. All in all was an eh experience. Best part of my breakfast was watching a cute couple full of love.

Me and my sister just recently had food poisoning from this exact Mike’s Place. She had a Greek chicken salad and I got a Greek chck wrap. Need less to say we both got extremely ill. This is actually my second time getting food poisoning, the first time was from a burger. Shame on me for supporting your restaurant, you should be shut down.

If I could give no stars I would. My sister in law, who’s a vegetarian, ordered an egg salad sandwich with no lettuce. It was brought to her with lettuce. Okay, so no big deal, just take it off right? WRONG there was a maggot in her food. A MAGGOT. If she wouldn’t have taken off the lettuce she would have never known. We didn’t have to pay for the food of course, and they offered us more food. Who would want to eat after that?

My husband and I came over here for breakfast and I don’t really like my food… I prefered to go to the MIKE“S Place in Hylan Blvd because I like the food and the people who serve us.

UGHHHHH! This place drives me crazy. I love to eat here because the food is actually pretty good. I love their turkey bacon [even though a side of it is $ 4.50 which is a rip off], and they have good breakfast overall. I have never eaten here aside from breakfast. Their hot chocolate is also ehh but they have great coffee. So the coffee and the food is what gives this place two stars. Why is that? THEYARETHENASTIESTPEOPLE I HAVEEVERMET. SORUDE!!! Everyone from the management to the waiters are disgustingly nasty. There is literally ONEGOODWAITOR, the taller dark brown haired man. Otherwise they all SUCK and if this job makes them miserable they should quit. Upon entrance they are nasty and combative. I asked them for a table for 2 and the manager I believe it was said hell take you and pointed and I was like perfect and can we just have a booth please because he was at the tables… very nastily [what a shocker] he said yea like i said hell take you. Thereafter I responded I heard you the first time, I was simply sating this before being seated just in case. My nasty 100 years old waitress came over and kept repeating our order back incorrectly, I guess she couldn’t hear. Fine, no play on age… if she would have asked nicely for us to repeat ourselves it would have been ok but her nasty what with an attitude… yeah. Additionally, I asked her for the price of a side of bacon [which i mentioned above] she was like i don’t know, its extra I have to see. I was like OK thats fine just let me know thank you. She responds«you want it»? I was the price! She finally comes around with the price and I said okay thanks for letting me know if i remain hungry I will order it. Her response was, «so you want it»? Whatever…the bill was 24. Not too bad. Food good but if you have a short temper DONOTCOMEEATHERE. ITSSAD… THEYSUCK!!!

No chicken in chicken soup to go 2 times at $ 4.95 each. Finally got 1 free. Bald headed big mouth owner is rude and will not tell you how old their rock hard muffins are. Instead he tells me not to ask him, calls me whiney, and tells me to go to hell. I was in there 2 times a day for last 2 weeks as mom is in hospice. No customer service here. Lost me as customer.

My husband and I used to be good customers of Mike’s Place. We both work long hours so we’d order from or eat there about two times per week(about $ 200-$ 300 a month). However, after how we were treated this weekend, we will never go back. Late Friday night, I called in an order for delivery but the man on the phone(who I think was the manager) told me they wouldn’t deliver. From the moment we spoke with him, he instantly had an attitude. I asked to place a phone order for pickup. He said they no longer allow people to call in orders because they’ve had a few people call in an order only to never pick it up.(Note that I called in an order for pickup last week.) I offered to provide a debit card number but he wouldn’t accept it; the only way I could get food would be to go there in person and wait for it. I was in the middle of saying that I’m a very good customer that, thanks to this person’s behavior, would be taking my business elsewhere when the man I was speaking with grunted«That’s fine» and hung up on me. After making good on my promise to order elsewhere(from the Colonnade where everyone was very friendly and I got a surprisingly good Cuban sandwich), I became very annoyed and went into Mike’s Place, introduced myself as the person who’d been hung up on, and asked for an apology. I explained again that I’m a good customer and that I thought it wasn’t fair to GOOD customers that they should be punished for a few bad ones. I again suggested that they require credit card numbers or have either a) a list of numbers from which they won’t accept orders or b) some sort of «safe order» list for good customers. The manager then said that he has no way of knowing if I’m a good customer or not, he doesn’t know the good customers from the bad ones, nor does he have any obligation to remember who the good ones are. He actually smirked as he said this as if I was nuts for suggesting otherwise. I will admit in retrospect that, since I’d never been treated so rudely by a restaurant, I reacted loudly and emotionally to his statement. It was very obvious the my continued business was not appreciated. I left without a resolution when the cashier, a very nice man, suggested that I come back on Saturday after 10am to speak with the owner. I never did, though, both because I thought the manager wouldn’t even let me in before I could speak with the owner and also because I was mad at myself for letting this man get me so upset. Based on the other comments about how rude members of the staff were, I guess I’m not alone who’s experienced their attitudes. Maybe the people calling in fake orders were disgruntled customers! I realize that my orders of $ 3,600 a year isn’t that much in the grand scheme of things but I’m not asking for price breaks or free food. Is it too much to ask that the manager of a restaurant that I frequent regularly treat me with a little courtesy? Even the owner of the pizzeria by my job where I spend a measly $ 5 a week took the time to learn my name. Is the ability to call in an order secured by a credit card really that much to ask, especially because the reason I don’t like going there late at night is because there’s usually obnoxious or drunk people there. Ironically, though, there was only one table occupied when I walked into the restaurant the other night so at least my order could’ve given the kitchen something to do.

There’s this busboy that keeps going around however and keeps asking if we’re done with our food. It’s every time. Can’t you just look and see if we’re eating or picking at our food. Obviously we are not done. Server was extremely nice however. Food came out fairly quick.

If I could give it zero stars, I would. The«zero» would be for the fact that we were never even served– my boyfriend and I were seated, and sat waiting to be approached by the waitstaff. We sat there for literally 20 minutes, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt; they were not busy, and not understaffed. Nothing. So we got up, put our jackets on, and left. On our way out, the manager was so oblivious to what happened, that he actually thanked us for our business. I couldn’t believe it– I’m not an inherently rude person, but couldn’t stop myself from literally laughing in his face. We decided to go a mile down Hylan Blvd to the Colonnade Diner instead, which made Mike’s look worse– they took our orders and got our food out in the same amount of time that it took us to get up and leave Mike’s. It was also delicious, and the waiter we had was super awesome, polite, and attentive. I wonder if the owner is aware of the fact that his second-rate employees are literally running his business into the ground. It’s a really sad thing. Also– about a month ago, I got really bad food poisoning from one of the other Mike’s Diners in the area after ordering Grilled Salmon over Salad. I’m pretty done with this string of diners.

My friend swore by this place so I decided to join her one night… later wishing I hadn’t. Our waitress seemed angry for whatever reason, never smiling, and when she decided to check on us a total of one time… she flew away before I can even answer her question. Not cool. I ordered a pastrami panini with a boatload of pastrami, like a seriously unappealing amount and was overly salted, as were the fries that accompanied it. My friend ordered a breakfast quesadilla but got a chicken quesadilla instead. After about 10 long minutes, our waitress decided to come out of hiding and fix our order. I didn’t bother trying the breakfast quesadilla but my friend seemed to love it, so +1 star for that! The menu also had disco fries as an appetizer. I was so excited although the disco fries I’m used to are made with gravy but they have them with bacon and melted cheese, which still sounded great. I specifically asked our server that we will start with the disco fries and then proceed with our entrees, to avoid having a ton of food on our table at the same time… but yep, she brought them all together anyway. The disco fries were s**t. I’m sorry but if the menu had said I’d be getting warm fries with soft bacon bits and slightly heated slices of American cheese, I would’ve passed. +1 more star for the very kind busboy. He showed up to see how we were constantly, as opposed to our waitress, and always made sure our water glasses were full. Sorry Mike, I don’t think I’ll be at your place anytime soon.

I came here to meet a friend for Dinner. We had no problem getting a table with no wait. Maybe it was a bad sign or maybe it was bcuz it was a Tuesday. Regardless the place was pretty empty. I ordered a burger and fries, pretty simple right? Wrong they messed up my order. After they attempted to correct it i just decided i would just eat it. The food was average at best. Service was slow and when the place is empty, wtf? The place is small and the décor needs updating. The menu looked good and the prices were normal for a dinner. I doubt i would come back to eat, but hey, atleast the coffee was good.

Typical diner. Staff is friendly. I prefer this location over the Hylan one. Seats are always available and there’s always a big late-night crew. The omelets are good and so are their chicken wraps. My favorite is their grilled cheese with tomato and either a side of sweet potato fries or curly fries with mozzarella cheese!
