Can not say enough good things about how much this place changed my life. When I started doing Jujutsu with Professor Curry I was 205lbs 6 months later I was down to a much more comfortable 165lbs. Losing 40lbs in of itself is a great reason for joining, but this place has so much more to offer than helping you reach your weight lost goals. The self-defense system they teach is the real deal. Professor Curry was a cop for over 20yrs and I would speculate that he probably got try out these techniques in real life situations. You will learn how to use minimal effort to do the maximum amount of damage. For me personally this gave me a some peace of mind that I had some idea of how to handle myself. Professor Curry(Professor being his title in the Jujutsu system, Master being his title in the Karate system), really knows his stuff. Outside of the whole cop thing, Professor Curry has been studying one form or another of martial arts for 40yrs. He is a big guy, and you would assume that he would just strength through whatever he wanted, but than you see him move and he is like a ballerina of death, the agility and speed that he has gained from being a life long student is awe inspiring. To try to make the style of Jujutsu that is taught here more understandable I would describe it as a dirty(very dirty) version of Judo. It is all the same principles, breaking someones balance using leverage, technique vs. strength, but at the same time why not throw an elbow in there to bust your opponent up, and make you kick him in the head while he is down. This is the Jujutsu that the Samurai class developed back in Japan this is truly the first mixed marital art, and that is why it is some times called the«mother art», you will learn striking, throwing, and grappling. Besides for the ridiculous amount of self-defense knowledge you will gain, this place is also great for families. I am more than sure when I have a kid and he or she turns three they will be in one a white belt class. Half of my class are fathers that have children in either the Jujutsu or Karate programs. Kids and parents get to spend time together, and the school itself acts as an extended family. A lot of people will say that their school is like a family, but I have seen this school act like a family more times than I can count. I said that this place changed my life, and not just because of the weight or the awesome stuff I have learned… This place literally changed my outlook on everything. Jujutsu was something I wanted to do for such a long time, but just never got around to do it. Now all the sudden I am doing this, I started looking at the rest of my life and I am eating better, sleeping better(and less). I used to sleep away soo many hours now I am up 6am on the weekends getting thing done, and I have so much more energy. This is an experience I would highly recommend anyone try.
