Great beer selection, great appetizers, extremely underwhelming entrees. As stated Killmeyer has a great beer selection, my family and I all enjoyed the flavorful beers they had on top. The appetizers were also great. We ordered the cranberry + wild boar sausages and potato pancakes. The entrees did not live up to the hype that this place(used to) get. My brother had the pot roast, the meat was dry and the mashed potatoes were instant. I had one of the specials: sauerkraut, potatoes, carrots and three kinds of meat served in a small pot. Meat had a nice homemade taste but the carrots and potatoes were undercooked. Would come back here again for drinks, appetizers and sausage but nothing else

Their ambience is quite interesting with live music and their drink specials. I came here with some friends and enjoyed the pumpkin martini(it had a nice kick). Although the food tasted decent, perhaps I’m not fully calling it amazing cause it was my first time having German food and am not accustomed to different styles of seasoning and cooking. Please don’t get me wrong, I respect foods of different cultures and enjoy partaking in eating a variety of foods, but these two seemed to be bland a bit. I had the weiner schnitzel and sptazle, which are basically a pounded flat veal cutlet and little thin noodles with a gnocchi or tiny ravioli consistency. They were nicely garnished with arugula and the portion of food was generous. I even took some home cause I was full The waitresses are American from the looks of it, but are dressed in Bavarian outfits typically seen in a brewhaus and are decent in their demeanor. I had a great time with my company and look forward to giving them a try again sometime soon. I live in the area and would like to expand on my repertoire of foods I have consumed.

This place deserves no stars. I had a racist experience here and it’s beyond disappointing that something like this would happen in 2015.

First time here and experienced how awful the ownership acted towards staff and clientele. He was rude and inappropriate as he entered the establishment towards closing time. It left my local clients and business a bad taste, no longer will we visit this establishment in the future for business parties or events.

Some traditions are meant to NEVER be broken. This place emulates that in their food, drink, and atmosphere. Very happy to have a little taste of Bavaria on the island.

Had dinner 3 couples last night, 3 of us had the Weinschel which is suppose to be one large pounded and rolled out thin cutlet, each of us had 2 – 3 smaller pieces of some tough mystery meat. The combo plate sausage was old and smelled and the dark sauce on my wife’s entrée was so salty. The waitress mixed up every entry side. The beer and pretzels filled us up. The place was hot we asked to turn on the A/C more then once, there was a musty odor and the place is dark, dirty and dusty. Once a treat this place is getting worse and worse. Time for a change.

Very good German food and a great beer selection. The outdoor Beer Garden is a great place to see bands and the service is usually on point, especially Craig the bartender. It’s a chill, laid back place to meet with friends or for a date night. My only complaint is that they should add /upgrade the TVs in the bar area. I’d love to come here to eat, drink and watch a game, but the set up isn’t conducive to that. Killmyers is my favorite spot on the South Shore.

What happened here? Either a different chef or a drunk one the night I was there. Last year I was so surprised how fantastic my sausage variety dish was that I returned and ordered the same thing. The sausages were gross. The red cabbage on the side was inedible. My daughter got some steak dish stuffed with something which was also inedible. The beer garden in the back is a beautiful spot to eat and listen to whichever band is there. Inside is also a very cozy atmosphere. Better off sticking to the humongous variety of beer and a pretzel.

The service at Bavarian Inn is great. The setting is fun. The beer selection is German and good. However the food. The food is just bland, bland and bland. It’s not good at all. I suggest if you go, go to have a snack and drink some German beers. But don’t go if you’re expecting a tasty meal, whether or not you know what German food is supposed to taste like.

We went in on a weekday afternoon, so it wasn’t very busy while we were there. The beer was good but the food was delicious. The Saurbraten was fantastic, cabbage, potato dumpling, spaetzel, all on point. The lunch special was a good size portion and reasonably priced. The Apple strudel and crêpe are made in house so definitely try that. The service was fine while I was there, I’ll have to go back when it’s busier.

On a snowy night in February I meet up with a group of friends to toast my birthday. Killmeyer’s has a large bar area which was perfect for our needs, everyone bought me a drink and Lou the bartender was a consummate professional. My sister flew-in to celebrate with us, and that made it extra special.

Some smarmy douche bartender named Ray Jr. spilled beer all over himself while drinking it. It was really off-putting.

Went here because a friend who loves old NYC restaurants raved about it. Well, I’ll give you that it’s old, and the main room and bar have a bit of yesteryear charm. But service was lackadaisical and even though there were empty tables, we were told there would still be a 10 minute wait.(The reason? The servers were overwhelmed. Huh?) Waiter was young and inexperienced, but good-natured at least. Food was very slow in coming out. And it took forever to get a glass of water. The beer section was good. The food? Standard German fare, but probably slightly watered down to American taste(I won’t pretend to be an expert in German fare, but I’ve certainly had better.) Would I come back? Nah. Do I regret going? Sorta, but at least I saved the trip for when I was going to be in Staten Island anyhow. I would certainly not suggest making a special trip here. It won’t be that… special.

While the beer list is still ample and they hit the nail on the head with the German-style appetizers, the entrees are really not that great. They lack flavor and gusto. If you’re looking forward to vegetables, just make your own. Either the meal won’t come with them or it will be your typical peas, carrots, onion trio from a frozen bag. You could do better on your own, I’m sure. I’m still happy with the place in regards to some of the other aspects of the menu, and the service has usually been good, but I just can’t justify keeping the 4-star review when the last 3 or 4 times I’ve been here, we’ve been disappointed with the main dishes.

The décor looks authentic, but don’t let that fool you. When it comes to the food, its anything but. Out of the 3 German restaurants on Staten Island, this one lacks in the food department. Saubraten is not what you would get in Germany… very dry, and the wrong type of sauce. Wonder if anyone here has even been to Germany. The beer is great, but a bit overpriced.

I came here on a Saturday night for a birthday party. 5 of us walked in together and we waited about 20 minutes for a table to be set up. By the time we sat down, we realized that most of the tables were empty so we didn’t know what took so long. 10 minutes later, a few more people showed up and the birthday boy helped the waitress to add another empty table to ours. The waitress then came around asking for drink orders and a few of us got appetizers and meals. Everyone’s food was out very quickly, except for mine. When everyone was half way through, I reminded the waitress about my meal and she basically just nodded and walked away like she was on her way to grab it at that very moment. 5 min later it came out. My friend ordered the pork chop entrée which he really enjoyed. It came with a bunch of sides and I got the summer salad. My salad was surprisingly tasty and came with a lot of crispy apples, walnuts and Gorgonzola. The serving size was perfect for an entrée. I asked for the dressing on the side, since I typically don’t like it, but in this case, I poured it on. It tasted like crushed raspberries. It was perfect. Instead of bread, this place gives a few soft pretzels with mustard. They looked and smelled so good. Definitely very fresh.

Sprechen sie Deutsch? Well they certainly do right here in Staten Island not too far from the Outerbridge Crossing. I absolutely love German beer gardens. I believe my thirst started in 1991 when I was fortunate enough to spend several days in Munich Germany, crashing the world famous Hofbrauhaus on a debaucherous occasion. This was pre euro and the US dollar went quite far in fact far enough to fill my gullet with amazing German beer & brat. This place is fairly quaint and relatively small for a German beer garden but a bar for 20& seating for 40ish. You’ll see the deer antlers on the wall along with the typical German streamers hanging from the ceiling in old Munich fashion. Several Bavarian style beers are available in many flavors to quench that taste that only a good German beer can satisfy. I loves me some Weisse bier, the only problem is it’s hard to chug several being it’s more like a meal then some light beer that we Americans are typically subjected to at neighborhood swills. Brats to knockwurst to Weiner schnitzel grace the menu with ample lunch specials below $ 10& dinner being a bit more. Don’t forget to get a side of spaetzle or perhaps some grilled Bologna and schmear some good German mustard all over. I’ve been fortunate enough to dine here on a few occasions and have always left completely satiated. If you haven’t guessed I’m a big fan. I’m partial to German food and beer and this place may not be the most authentic that I’ve experienced, but with German food not exactly being a commodity in these parts you’ll be pleasantly surprised and I’ll bet you’ll gladly return just as I have. Avidazen.

Killmeyer’s Old Bavaria is a great change up to ordinary Staten Island bars. The food is good, ordered a Ruben Sandwhich accompanied with steak fries. The Sandwhich had nice flavor but wouldn’t have minded a little more meat. They have many cold beers on tap and prices are very reasonable. Service was very good as the waitress made sure to never let a glass go bone dry and stayed attentive throughout the night serving a table of 8. The décor gives you an old rustic feel inside with dark stained wood, many taps and large seating area. The outdoor beer garden area is set up with a band/Dj stage. A bar in the rear mixed tables and chairs as well as picnic style tables. They have an outdoor smoking area set aside from the tables where people are eating. A recommendation parking can be a cluster of issues for many as This place fills up rather quickly with many neighborhood regulars and can make is difficult for new patrons to experience. There are a few side streets to park on just as a hint. Would return to try more genuine German food next time.

I loved the atmosphere, the food, and the drinks! Their beer menu was quite exciting. My boyfriend and I stuck with Trappist beer but definitely are thinking if trying all of others on the menu. Blood sausage — amaaaaaaxzzing! I had other sausages too — the sampler is a great way to try a mix. I was a bit surprised to ind escargot on the menu. It was perfectly done, I will definitely get it again. And the bartender was really chill and pleasant to us. It seems that this place has regular customers and we just dropped in — regardless, the bartender chatter and supplied us with food and drinks as if we come there every week. I recommend this place to anyone who loves sausages and beer, or anyone who is passing by on their way to Outerbridge. This place is awesome!
