Helene the Art of Makeup

Okay, so I rarely take time away from my busy schedule to write reviews, but I feel compelled. I’m pissed.
Well, at least you got some courtesy Blanca and received a call back. I emailed and called Helene and got blown off.
They made me late for my wedding. She totally didn’t care. I told her repeatedly what time I needed to be done, and she was like «oh yeah, no problem» and then the day of, she took a bunch of old women (no offense to them) but I was a Bride and she knew it and just didn’t care. She knew what time I needed to be done and then had nerve to say, «well what time did you think you would be out of here»
They use the CRAPPIEST make up ever and then want to actually charge you for it. She is too interested in having you come back with her «deals».
She should pay attention to her PAYING clients while they are actually there and she may get more repeat customers.
She is doing your make up and walks away a million times.
She is an awful owner as she has no order and doesnt care when a person reaches out to her who has paid A LOT of money. It’s called professional courtesy which she lacks.
They never tell about all the charges up front and they LIE. They told me the money I gave as a deposit was going towards the day of my wedding… then, that day, I am told that was just a «holding fee».
PLEASE LADIES and gents… DO NOT go there.
I wanted to be positive and give this place a chance… I’m so sorry I did.
Let’s not even discuss how dirty the place is and how disgusting the make up is.
I should call the DOH on them… maybe then she would have the decency to call me back.

So here we go again!!! I am planning my wedding and running errands when I get a phone call from Helene herself. At first I didn’t answer the call because sincerely I didn’t know WHY they were calling me and I was not interested. I ignored the call only to have them call me right again and I ignored that call and this time I got a VM. GUESS WHO? Helene asking to speak to me about a personal matter. I asked myself: «Why in the world would she call me after the fact that I was not happy with the service and mind you I paid for it! Anyways, don’t ask my why but I called back and the receptionist answered. I asked for Helene and she had stepped out, I asked the receptionist to tell her to do me the favor of NOT calling me because I was not satisfied. Two min. later, my oh! my, Hello?
Helene, calls me to tell me that a friend of hers saw the review of the experience I had and she wanted to tell me of how much she was «sorry that I had such hatred for people?» And how would I write a review as such??? I hung up and she called me again! I had my fiancée answer the call and as they say in spanish «Santo remedio.» BEWARE: If you WANT bad service, which I am not the only one that has said this! and WANT to be harassed then I recommend this place! Totally RIDICULOUS

I’ll be straight with you: I’ve been here but never got a service from them. They are kind and friendly, but here’s the thing… the service isn’t impressive. So when a few people say the same thing maybe it’s time to look within and see where to improve. Feeling like you’re going the extra mile isn’t the same as making sure you lock down the basics.
But the kicker, the one star deserving choice of action, boiled over today.
My girlfriend got a penultimate call in the long line of harassing communications and hung up; we’re busy people in the middle of a life altering process. They called back, and I picked up the phone. The conversation (95% caller, 5% me, the receiver) was full of angry, paradoxical, pot-​calling-​the-​kettle-​black accusations. I’d write them in detail here, but I don’t want to give them the pleasure.
Basically, if you write a bad review about these folks, expect to be harassed by phone. Constantly.
BTW, we know people, scary people. Don’t call. Thanks.

I 100% agree with Blanca R’s review. Helene’s art of makeup showed up 30 minutes late for the morning of my wedding. Because of them i was late and cut my time with my photographers by a lot. That made me so furious, but that is not all. THey kept switching pricing around on me, along with who was coming the day of the wedding to do my hair, i was told back and fourth well «this woman is more money, if we get another girl, it will be cheaper» that was a heap of lies. The «other girl» was not any cheaper and things were constantly being «added» to the bill. The «other girl» should not have been doing hair because she did a horrible job. My girls were all disappointed and upset because of the price/​and job that was done. As far as makeup, the same brushes, sponges and everything else was used on all the girls and myself. I suppose this company doesnt care about being clean (shocking, i know). I think that is disgusting and if someone has a problem with their skin it would carry over to the next girl. In addition this «makeup artist» used cheap makeup like maybelline mascara, i saw cover girl pencils, and chipped and old eye shadow pods. I felt so ripped off and angry but i had no choice to go back on the morning of my wedding. If i can offer advice to anyone else, go with someone who is professional, courteous and who will actually run a nice clean business where everything is written out in a contract and doesn’t tell you one thing one day, and another the next day.
