Excellent sushi spot. Had the Sushi Regular and everything was perfect, from the presentation, to the freshness of ingredients, to the cleanliness and décor of the restaurant. Even though it’s located in a plaza, do not be deceived! The food is great! The only reason it lost one star is that it may be a tad on the pricy side.

Great sushi, better prices, positive atmosphere. The sushi is fresh, and service is usually pretty quick, but for some reason the nori on the spicy tuna/salmon rolls is always too short(I uploaded a pic so you can see what I’m referring to). Aside from that, no issues, and I’ve eaten at this location about 10 times.

I eat here all the time, this was my fav sushi spot. I Ordered for delivery, totally screwed up my order after going over it THREE times. People make mistakes, but the woman that handled my order was screaming at me when i pointed out that there was items missing from my order is unacceptable. It got to the point where my Fiancé had to get on the phone and demand that they bring us what we ordered. They sent someone an hour later to give me what was missing. I live 5 minutes away mind you. Never eating here again.

Fried rice is excellent with the sauce. I go there all the time just for the fried rice. Pickup orders are pretty quick. They give a little less sushi than other places but it’s cheaper so it works out

Genki is OK. Came here on a Wednesday night and it was pretty packed. No wait, but they had almost all the tables full. The service is good, they are friendly which is nice. The food was good, I had the Philadelphia roll which was good, the salmon was thin which I like because I am weird with textures. The Boston roll was terrible and not what I expected. The mayo was blobbed on top which I had to scrape off and they used avocado instead of cucumber which I do not like in sushi at all. Also, the lettuce felt like it was a little old which was a huge turn off. Other than that the wine and food are pretty affordable which was nice. I would go back, but try another roll instead.

Genki Sushi has completed a renovation. Better lighting compared to the very dim setting prior. Walls have been tiled over now instead of the dark blue like ocean aquarium feeling. A projector light has also been added livening up this great spot. The service is great, whether the need for a drink always on time with out request. The client turnover is very good for the most part with the limited seating availability. The presentation and precision cuts are excellent. I decided to go with my usual first a sushi for two and volcano salad never disappoints. I then added a Bianca roll to try something different for a change and yes it may be a new favorite. The flavor of mango was excellent pairing with fish. This specialty roll is a must try. I finished with my version of dessert a spicy crunchy tuna hand roll. The seaweed paper was crispy the cone filled with spicy tuna. Leaving me content and full. I would continue to recommend Genki to family and friends. Keep up the good work. Will be back again.

Awesome place, cheap rolls and the fried rice is amazing. Definitely try out. The lovers roll was really good as well as the goyza. Not a place to sit for very long as everything comes out relatively quick.

Decent inside for being in a strip mall but that’s about it. The roll was very fishy, soup very salty. The sushi was okay not enough rice for the fish but not as fishy as the roll. There was also a fly going around which always grosses me out. All in all wouldn’t go back unless I had to.

Reviews are all based on Lunch take-out deliveries. Ordered a Sashimi lunch, the raw fish was below par. Does not come with rice. Lunch bento does not come with rice. Apparently rice costs extra, great for low-carb diners.

Very long wait but that can’t be helped. Extremely dark restaurant, so much so I thought I was going walk into things on the way to the bathroom. I ordered some unagi sashimi and some sort of spicy tuna roll. Everthing was mushy, especially the unagi which was sort of slimy too. The roll was also very small. I have had better sushi sold at supermarkets. If you want good sushi and are ever in newark Delaware try Mizu, its the best I ever had. There is also one in Philly but never ate at that one.

Ok so this place is located in a strip mall on Staten Island, but do not let that deter you! Hubby and I were visiting friends on SI and we went for din at Genki… I would highly recommend the Genki salad, sexy salmon app and Olympic roll. Delicious!!! And great sake selection. Only reason I give it 4 stars is that it’s small and bathroom area is dark and it’s in a strip mall.

Ordered delivery which came way too quickly. Delivery guy scared the hell out if me when he knocked on the door. You know you got your food fast when the delivery guy is the last thing on your mind after hearing the bell. I had the chirashi and ordered California rolls for a friend. The rolls looked good, lack of rice and stuffed with the good ingredients. Chirashi was dope. The fish was fresh, big chunks. Nice slices of tuna and salmon which were both fresh and on point. Everything else naturally followed suit. I will definitely order again or even dine in. 4 stars for being a typical delivery spot. This isn’t Michelin quality and Jiro isn’t in the kitchen, which is why I can’t give out 5 stars. They are on the top of their game though for local sushi.

Ever since they opened their Great Kills location this place has went down hill!!. The sushi quality is NOT the same. Nothing in rolls are fresh, the kani is SOFISHY&GROSS and the seaweed is chewy and nauseating!!! The only good thing about this place is the drink prices, but every cocktail tastes exactly the SAME! We used to LOVE Genki back in 2010, 2011, 2012&2013& would come almost once a week for the great prices, good food & cheap drinks. I don’t know what happened but I hope this place will go back to how it used to be. I wish this business well & appreciate it for the good food we used to eat.

We did not sit in, this review is for takeout only. I ordered the Staten Island Roll, it was cooked tuna, brown rice, avocado with sesame and crunch, some spicy mayo. Very good. My girlfriend tried their regular avocado roll and she thought it was very good as well. We will be back.

Little bro and I went on sushi date at Genki. We got there right after their lunch specials which was kind of a bummer but the prices weren’t that bad. Service was prompt, perhaps too eager like can I please FINISH my food before you take my plate away?! Uh BIGPETPEEVE! I had a Sapporo, shared some seaweed salad, and ordered a few rolls for the both of us. Bonus points to the chefs for making me a roll that I like that wasn’t on the menu(salmon and mango roll– seriously awesome), the tuna roll was okay but mostly rice which overpowered the tiny piece of tuna, yellowtail and jalepeno roll had a nice kick to it, and brother enjoyed his eel roll and finishing up the rest of the rolls. All in all, I have a few favorite places in DC but have yet to find a sushi place at home in Staten that compare. Genki is decent and I would probably go again but not necessarily crave it.
