Really nice atmosphere for dates, dinner with friends, cocktails or whatever. The food has its ups and downs. Some things taste really good, but majority are mediocre. I really recommend the truffle white tuna, but then again, truffle makes everything absolutely delicious. I guess I’m a bit of a food snob when it comes to Asian foods, but if you’re looking for Asian fusion in Staten Island with a nice atmosphere, this is a good option. My other recommendation is Takayama. 3.5 stars

Here usually every week. The food is great and a relaxing atmosphere. Saturday nights at 10 a dj comes and plays great music by the bar. The bartenders here are very friendly also.

Located in a mall and upstairs over retail stores you enter with an elevator. Really nice décor with very dim lights there’s a sushi bar on one side and booths and tables on the other. Shared appetizer of chicken skewered bbq was nothing special. For an entrée I had beef teriyaki which was average and came sans rice or salad. My wife ordered spicy tuna which wasn’t spicy or fresh. All in all once is enough.

I love this place. Clearly it has the best Japanese food on the island. The food is always fresh and the staff is wonderful. If you want atmosphere, great food, good service and to dine on Staten Island; this has to be the place!!!

Buddha lounge, not bad and not great. Hits you hard in the pocket. Sushi is alright, steaks are good, portions are a little small. I hate leaving a restaurant being hungry.

Food wasn’t bad… but I also got plastic wrap in my soup… not that plastic wrap is such a bad thing, but to me it shows carelessness, and when I am eating out and spending good money, I think I deserve food that is taken care of properly and with care… after all, I am eating this stuff.

At Buddha for New years Eve. Horrible. Worst service ever! Don’t waste your money. You will only get aggravated BC service was so bad. Only one waitress for an entire floor. One bartender. Been coming here for 5 years. 1115 still no food. Been here since 0930. Never again. Staff is unhappy BC they are too overwhelmed.

I’m really disappointed about this review. Last Sunday I took my daughters here to have a really nice dinner after a little Christmas shopping at the Christmas tree shop. We arrive for dinner around 630. The resterant was completely empty. The manager was decorating the tree and their was one waitress. They had special going on which was buy one get one. We ordered the appetizers because we were so hungry. Goat cheese salad was very good. Kani salad was ok. Then I ordered the shrimp teriyaki, and my daughters ordered sushi rolls and filet Mignon. We also ordered a pineapple fried rice. It took way over an hour for our food to come out and we were the only ones there. When I mentioned it to the manager she said they had a huge truck delivery and had to do that first, not very good customer service. Let the customer sit and wait. I should have just walked out. My shrimp came out way over cooked, tasted hard and very chewy and overly fishy, like they were bad. My daughters sushi rolls had rotten avocado in it too. The pineapple fried rice had a chemical taste to it, almost like a cleaning product, I told the manager we did not like it, I cant eat it. She then said she would give us dessert on the house but we don’t normally set dessert, plus we felt nauseated. She really did not want to take the bad rice off of the bill and then said to us that because it’s buy one get one I can’t take it off. She finally took the rice off of the bill but was not very happy about it. The waitress we had also just didn’t seem to care about us at all. I asked her about the cut of the steak in the steak teriyaki and she did not know, I think she did not understand my question. Overall, very poor dining experience, poor management, bad customer service and lousy food. Will never go back again

My girlfriend really wanted to check out this place since its been featured on Mob Wifes. The place is split into two parts, one half lounge and the other half over prices Japanese. We did not realize that right away so we ended up on the restaurant side, so ordered bunch of appetizers to share and drinks. Drinks were really tasty and with enough alcohol in them but appetizers were tiny, impossible to share for most part. Tuna tarta was not even big enough for tiny person to eat, what a joke. The rolls that we ordered were fine but nothing memorable that you can’t get anywhere else for $ 10 and here I think they all were about $ 18. The other strange thing when we ordered cappuccinos the waiters came back and told us they are out of milk, seriously place that size ran out of milk, I felt like they did not want to run the machine because I bet they cleaned it. Perhaps the most annoying part was that waitress wanted to send us home, apparently restaurant part closes down at 12, we sat down at 11 I think it would be reasonable to worn us that we only have an hour to sit there. She was in such a rush to get us out that she knocked over my drink which was about ¾ full and did not even bother to offer replacement. Well that got deducted from her tip. She kept insisting in terrible English that if we want to stay we have to go and find ourselves a table on the lounge side, are you kidding me lady? You go find me a table and move us. Over all not a great experience, there ton of places like them, I am not even sure why they were picked for the show.

I came here tonigt with my best friend after a long week of working and school. We were prepared to spend money and walked in at 9:30 pm. We knew they closed at 11. We ordered 2 drinks each, 2 soups, 2 appetizers, a main course, and a desert. The prices here are very expensive and we racked up a 105 dollar bill. The service was decent, we waited about 15 mins for every round of drinks and food was served pretty far apart. At 10:30 the waitress shoved a desert menu in our face as we were only half way through our entrée and said we had to order any desert now because they were doing«last call». We ordered a $ 10 chocolate cake that was probably the smallest desert portion I’ve ever seen. While we waited for desert the waitress informed us that we needed to pay now, as they were closing the register. We did without a problem, and left a $ 25 tip. At 10:50 our desert arrived, and at 10:53 the waitress came back out to tell us we needed to leave. We were not done with our desert and closing time was still 7 mins away. When we asked to speak with a manager, they replied that they didn’t have one on a Wednesday. Nice atmosphere, horrible service. Last one they will see me or my best friend again, I refuse to spend good money and then get kicked out 7 mins before closing time. They are rude, disrespectful, money hungry, and unprofessional. As soon as they had their money they wanted us out. They even told us «we want to go home, it’s late.» Save your money, go somewhere else, and get real portions and real service.

Sunday evening party of 7: July 13th had an A rating. Plenty of parking. Décor was very nice and clean. Chop sticks are heavy but long and a bit thick with square ends. Sushi pizza was well portioned and garnished with seaweed salad in the middle for those who don’t like it. Good amount of fish. Doesn’t over flow with avocado. Very good. Food came quickly to everyone simultaneously. Service attentivness was below fair. Not enough servers. Also mamy little things were missed by our waitress so if you have an allergy to something make sure you best it into their brains or they will forget. Music is light and loungy. They only carry light soy sauce in this establishment. Price is comparatively expensive when compared to other local sushi restaurants but the quality of the fish and plate design is what you pay for here. Some items on the menu were over inflated in price. Their dragon roll for example here is 14 dollars compared to 9 at Genki and Genki makes it much better. Decent selection of alcoholic beverages. There is an outside area to eat as well. I would recommend this place. If your looking for better sushi on the island Genki is the one I would choose. This place now takes 2nd place for me. Great job guys. Now to just make it a little better. Servers need some work.

Buddha is our number 1 choice for sushi dining in or delivery. Their salmon sashimi, eel and sea urchin sushi are always fresh! For dining in — treat yourself to a hot stone Kobe beef. It’s unique serving and great taste. Their cocktails are fun and definitely get you relaxed. Every now and then they have fresh scallops — I’ve never tasted such tender and tasty raw seafood! Their bar area is really cool too so don’t get discouraged if you come and it’s too crowded to get a table right away.

Place is designed very nicely, chic, modern and«loungy»… and the food is good, however, professionalism and service etiquette are poor. We came 1 hour before their closing time. The waiter and waitress that took care of were nice and took care of us quickly, too quickly actually. We were not finished with appetizers and they already brought our entrees and while we were eating entrees, they brought us dessert menu to pick deserts because the kitchen was closing like 30 minutes before their closing time. I was not yet finished with my entrée when the waitress brought us our bill and apologized many times for the rushed service. To be honest, I felt very rushed, uncomfortable and uneasy the whole time, as if I’m inconveniencing them cause they wanted to go home. After we paid our bill half way into our meal, they shut the music off, and were ended up finishing the meal in total silence, as if we’re at a morgue… we get the clue, you wanted us to leave, and leave we did… may not return either. I have some advice for the owner of this place. Please manage your employees and restaurant correctly… Close your doors earlier if you cannot serve the last 2 customers with the same respect, professionalism and courtesy as the first customer that comes into your door… pay your employees for an extra 30 minutes, and have them stay later to prevent them from rushing their customers meals simply because they want to go home. I have my doubts about returning to this place again. It’s too bad such a nice place, has such lack of professional approach and basic service ethics.

The place is nice however way over priced. They portions of food are average. This place is not a good place to have dinner, but rather a good place to have drinks and appetizers. I have been there multiple time and every time, my bill is expensive plus I still leave hungry. I rather go to Marina Café then here, any day of the week.

The best sushi place I have ever tried! The food is delicious and the customer service is great! If you need a party — this is the best place that you will ever find! I was extremely pleased to celebrate my birthday party at Buddha Lounge! P. S. Don’t forget to leave some money at Buddha statues at the exit — for good luck!

You ever been to a place and wonder damn why isn’t this place packed because it seems like it has everything you want in a bar or dining area yet for some reason something just doesn’t quite click. Well unfortunately that is the case at Buddha lounge and restaurant. Right next to the Outerbridge crossing in beautiful Staten Island the Buddha lounge lies on the third floor above a bedding shop. The only means of getting to third floor is via small elevator really? The lounge and bar area actually has a nice décor with an Asian theme very clean and separated so that the bar and lounge tonight intermingle. Another great thing is that they have outside terrace that overlooks Target lol and it does have the plastic type roofing so you can go outside to smoke or get some fresh air all seasons. Where the disconnect really begins is probably at the bar itself fairly small but one thing’s for certain no matter how much money you spend at the bar you will never get a buyback. They speak English well. It’s hard to describe you just get kind of a cold feel it’s just not the place that you feel comfortable and embrace from my experience is the last 4 years ownership is changed more times than the weather. The sushi and dishes that I have sampled have been good I really can’t complain. But once again kinda gives you the feeling that it’s kind of a thrown together hard to get into slightly uncomfortable feel that I just can’t seem to shake after having been there multiple occasions. For food sakes the product is good albeit pricey I would pass on the lounge being that«Z» is in the same parking lot with a much more festive environment.

This is my solid go to place for sushi on the island. It’s great for dates, and even for nights I just want to grab some fancy dessert with myself(I have done this) The décor is top notch, the ambience, music, lighting, seating, all of it– fan-freakin-tastic. It is exactly what I look for in a lounge to relax in. On top of that, the food is AWESOME. I’ve only had the sushi rolls and a lot of their sushi & sashimi appetizers so I can’t speak for any of the cooked menu items, but the sushi… FRESH. The presentation– 5 stars! There’s a reason why I’m the duchess of this place. I dare you to try and beat me, I DAREYOU.(EDIT: DAMNYOUVIC P!) Pricing is approximately the same as city prices, and in my opinion, more than fair for what you get. This is a classy little gem in the middle of my bumblefook area of Staten Island that I live in & I highly encourage all of you on the island looking for a good date/or good sushi spot to check this place out. Love ya Buddha lounge

Met up with some friends here for dinner. I had never been before because it gets clubby and id rather just avoid that. It’s a more upscale restaurant and the décor reflects that. But I wasn’t impressed. It’s not on the first floor so you have to go into a lobby and take the elevator. Which, would be fine, but the lobby takes away from it. Once you walk into the restaurant its very different… dark, lounge-y, very much like something you would find in the city. The food itself was ok. I’d rather go somewhere else that has more of a sushi selection, and is a little cheaper. Overall i didn’t hate anything about this place, but id rather go elsewhere if on Staten.
