I came here the other night with my family to celebrate my birthday. And needless to say, the food here at the Bayou does not disappoint. The service was great and the ambience was wonderful. It definitely felt like we made a trip to New Orleans and the live blues/jazz band that performed made the night even more fun. Here’s what we ordered: Appetizers: –Alligator Bites –Crawfish Nachos Entrées: –Seafood Gone Wild –Crawfish Etouffe –Fried Calamari Jambalaya –Grilled Pork Chops –Stuffed Pork Chops Desserts: –Crème Brûlée Flambé –Fried Ice Cream –Bananas Foster Everything was great and the food was delicious. The only thing that was a little bit of a downer was that the desserts weren’t really that memorable. The custard to the Crème brûlée lacked flavor and that custard consistency. The bananas foster was the least favorite of the table. It was a regular crêpe filled with bananas and lacked any flavor, presentation, and texture. The fried ice cream was nothing to write home about. The ice cream felt like they had just taken it out of the freezer because you can still taste the ice crystals on it. The raspberry sauce didn’t really do much for this dessert either. I wouldn’t really recommend the desserts as much as the entrees. Delicious foods and great atmosphere with some great company. Definitely come here if you’re looking for good portions and food, and a fun southern environment.

I have nothing but absolutely great things to say about this restaurant. I love New Orleans, it’s my favorite city and I really believe that this restaurant captures the essence of the culture and food from New Orleans. I also love that the service is always great. The menu constantly changes and never disappoints. I wish there was another location in St. George, I would be best friends with the chef of this restaurant.

Finally made my way here. Food was good as was my drink;purple haze. Had the sea food jambalaya it was big enough to share. They had a live blues music band. Not sure this place would appeal to a younger crowd but definitely come and decide for yourself.

Great Jambalaya. Crawfish Enchilada needed to taste spicier, too bland. Warm pecan pie is great.

DELICIOUS! Everyone is always incredibly nice, service is impeccable, and the food is out of this world. The entrees are phenomenal, and you can never go wrong with an order of hummus and a pitcher of red raspberry sangria. Definitely our go-to fancy date night spot! :-)

This was a nice place. We lived in NOLA for awhile so we are always looking for a nice Cajun/Creole place. Ambience is nice. It IS kid friendly. We had our 2 ½ year old with us. Good was good. The have Abita! We will return to hear some music sometime.

What a pleasant surprise in Staten Island, and I always thought that the only good food you can get on the island is most likely Italian. While out there one afternoon my husband & I decided to check this place out, it was recommend by a Staten Island foodie resident, that told me husband«we also have good food here also». We came in for lunch, early… maybe 12 – 12:30 the parking was a little difficult to find, it’s right on Bay Street, which is busy, I was very surprised walking in, it looked like what a restaurant in New Orleans would look like(what I imagine considering I’ve never been there) the young guy working sat us right away. After looking at the menu we decided to pig out just on appetizers, we ordered the alligator bites, potato fritters, chicken wings, and gumbo, everything was so delicious! The service was great! Very attentive, always recommending stuff, even the dessert(fries cheesecake) which personally I wouldn’t have ordered, but so glad I did! I would love to go back for dinner, so many things on the dinner menu I want to try.

I love this place. This is honestly one of my favorite restaurants in Staten Island the energy and aura and music makes you feel your not even on the island anymore. Perfect place for a first date especially if your trying to get lucky if you know what I mean and the drinks are great

Good food, we don’t have many Cajun restaurants in NY and it’s definitely the only one in the Staten Island. The menu gives many options to try a true taste of Louisiana. Probably going back for Fat Tuesday.

Bayou is located on Staten Island’s own Restaurant Row, that stretch of Bay Street that includes Rosebank, Clifton and Stapleton. There is a lot of fine cuisine to be had here. Bayou opened our meal with fresh baked bread and butter. The bread was warm, soft and delicious. The salad that followed had greens, yellow raisins, tomatoes and julienne cut sweet peppers in a mild but pleasant vinaigrette dressing. The salad’s only flaw was letting the greens sit in the dressing to the point of losing some of their crispness. On to the main dish: Seafood Jambalaya. This dish was prepared with shrimp, mussel, scallop, calamari and andouille sausage over a moist rice mixture rich in tomatoes and spices. The andouille was the perfect blend of sweetness and spice, the scallops were meaty and delicious. The calamari was good. The shrimp were big and so worth wrestling from their tail shells. The only fault might be the mussel which were skimpy for their shell sizes. Cooked into a Cajun flavored sauce, the dish is one to ask for again after I sample the many other offerings Bayou’s staff prepares. Service was timely and attentive. I chose a house chardonnay to accompany my entrée. I know not the vineyard but it went well. Dessert ended this meal with warm pecan pie. Their offering was not the intensely sweet usual pecan but I am not a fan of candied sweets with dinner. If four and a half stars were available, Bayou would have earned it. Like Cajun? Come to Bayou.

Fantastic food and the best service. Ask for Nicole on Tuesdays and Fridays! She was attentive, sociable, and recommended the Jamabalya Rice ball and the Pork medallions wrapped in bacon which were phenomenal! Tuesday’s have great blues music! Cajun and Blues are a great combination! Highly Recommended!

Came for Father’s day lunch with the family, not a bad price for value, even with 12 people. I had the Steak Louise, cooked nearly to perfection. Fried ice cream wasn’t what I was expecting, it was more if a ball of ice cream. I was disappointed they didn’t have a kids menu and the sides that came with my steak were just ok. But service was very good and attentive!

Was headed elsewhere, but due to a busy Saturday night without reservations ended up at this location by chance. Thank goodness! Started with the jumbalaya rice balls and sweet potato and andouille sausage fritters. Both were delicious but the fritters were amazing. I got the Jumbalaya and it was all I could have asked for. Others in the party got the blackened snapper, which was also delicious, as well as a salad which they were pleased with. Very good experience and the wait staff was very attentive.

My meal can be summed up in one word: incredible! I’ve been here once before for their prefix meal but so glad I came back for dinner. Came with friends to celebrate my girlfriend moving. Started the meal jambalaya rice balls and sweet potato and andouille fritters. I’m grateful we cut them and distributed before we tried them because if there had been any left I might have accosted a friend for more rice ball. Then my girlfriend and I shared the arugula salad and the seafood gone wild. The salad was good but since I am not an olive fan I didn’t love it. The Sea food gone wild was amazing. Large portions definitely enough to share. My only complaint was that our expresso was a little watery. It wasn’t bad but essentially just a small cup of coffee. I highly recommend this restaurant. It’s great for a celebration with friends. Little off the beaten path but worth the trek in my opinion.

It was love at first sight. We were greeted by great live music behind the unassuming entrance. The classy deco and cosy ambience was conducive for chit chat although the place was packed with dinner crowd. We ordered the fried sweet potato fritters with andouille sausage bits — very tasty & a great start to the meal. The sauce that came with it was excellent. We also had the ‘seafood gone wild’- this came with rice & carrots– the white wine sauce was perfect complement to the scallops, shrimp, mussels, clams, ooh so delicious! The bread dipped into the sauce was just heavenly. It was a great evening of food & entertainment. Service was great as well. A lovely gem of a place!

Ok so here’s the deal. Pros: A nice restaurant with great tasting food. Love the fact that the drinks were very generously poured as well. Great atmosphere and the service was excellent. Word is, there’s live music Tuesday and Wednesday. Cons: We were told when we made the reservation that if we’re not there within 15 minutes of the time, it will be cancelled. We got there on time but waited about 20 to 30 minutes to be seated.

I have dined at Bayou in Staten Island a few times and can say with conviction, it does live up to the hype. The first time I dined here was during a summer afternoon mid-week, so there were other occupied tables but not overly crowded. Another time I came here was with another couple and it was a Saturday night so it was definitely more busy but we were still able to get a table without much of a wait, if any. The restaurant begins with a small bar in front and leads to a two-room dining space that is adorned with southern style décor. With the New Orleans jazz music playing in the background, you really feel like you have left NYC and entered a world of carnivals, painted faces, and stringed beads. Bayou’s Cajun food and strong drinks have just as much character as the overall ambiance. Their drink menu was different and I recall not knowing what to choose because everything looked so good. I eventually decided on an Arnold Palmer, which was made up of vodka, iced tea and lemonade. Yum! Every time I’ve dined here, I’ve ordered the Jambalaya Rice Balls from their appetizer menu, which I never thought I would like but I absolutely l-o-v-e! I say this is a must-have if you come here. For my entrée, I had the N’awlins Chicken, which consisted of chicken, sausage, spinach, tomatoes, and Monterey Jack cheese, topped with a creamy mushroom garlic sauce. The chicken comes with rice and carrots. It was very delicious and very filling. I wish I could remember what everyone else had but I think I was enjoying my drinks and food too much to notice!

Not as great as they rave, it’s eh alright. It’s probably because I’m really spoiled when it comes to food as they say, so yeah for Staten Islander’s it’s probably the more great restaurants around to go dine. And like me and my boyfriend who happened to be in Staten Island, it wasn’t as delicious as we hoped. The portion for the food is actually pretty big and generous! We got the seafood gone wild and the special of the day; veal chops. My boyfriends plate for $ 24 on seafood gone wild was a plate full of mussels, 4 large jumbo shrimp, scallops, two huge fat andouille sausage… that’s what she said ;) haha ok and yeah plenty of lobster and crawfish, he was actually full. As for me I only finished about half of my dish. For appetizer we got what seemed to be the most popular. The mussels were not even as plumpy, clean, or yummy compared to many other places I remembered like Thalia, Fravella Cuban etc. &Everything seemed to be under salted that we had to salt it a lot by ourself even tho my boyfriend usually has a low tolerance for saltiness.

A hidden treasure of Staten Island. The atmosphere is always a pleasure and they do have some unique eats. The staff was very friendly and did check up on us often but not to the point of being annoying. Let’s just say my water glass was never empty, just how I like it. I highly recommend the alligator bites for the appetizer! It’s served on this toast like bread which is tasty and a blue cheese(I believe) salad. I usually get it every time! I would stay away from the craw fish mini tacos as for the tortilla it is served with tastes HORRIBLE! The sangria is to die for and if you like vodka I would recommend the columbian kiss. Both are super refreshing! It’s a very good date spot ! Worth checking out !
