Went on a non-busy Thursday evening. We were greeted by owner, very pleasant man. It was ten of us, we ordered every appetizer and every homemade pasta on the menu. Amazing food. Great desserts. Service was great. I read all negative reviews below, prior to visiting this place, I must say people just love to whine. This is not a place, to experience a fine dining experience.

In my book Basilio Inn is Hands Down The BEST Italian restaurant on Staten Island! I have eaten at all of the islands staples that everyone has recommended to me over the years, and around 25 or so other places that I’ve tried on the island. There are a hand full that are memorable the rest you might as well go to an Italian chain restaurant. They are not worth me writing about. Processed frozen food. I don’t know if the people that have suggested restaurants to me just don’t leave the island or they don’t know what good food can be. Maybe Basilio Inn is too far from the south shore for people to travel, I don’t know, but its definitely worth a trip. I crave this place. The owner does his own vegetable shopping at the markets and if something doesn’t look right he won’t buy it. So fresh so delicious. The pastas are homemade they are so good you have to try them all. You can taste the care put into the dishs. Worth a trip for me anywhere from the boroughs. I’m sorry I never get a chance to take too many pictures all I want to do is dive in and eat.

Went for a nice dinner with my family~asked if they had a children’s menu for my daughter waitress says no but we can make chicken fingers with fries, I said ok no fries a small order of pasta please. My husband ordered a half order of linguine with clams and I ordered a full order. The bill comes and I see chicken Milanese for 17.95 and an order of pasta 9.95 and we were also charged for 2FULL orders of the linguine. Are you kidding me because Maurice the owner stood over the table and looked at our dishes and said oh those dishes are both full orders~my daughter had 3 small pieces of chicken and you charge 17.95!!! It wasn’t about the money the bill was 268 $ it was principal he’s an out right crook!!! And to make things worse the food wasn’t even great-the bread was stale the grated cheese and olive oil horrible the spadini not like it use to me. If u want to charge top dollar you better make sure your food is top notch~would not reccomend this place at all.

We disagree with the high ratings. The fried zucchini was tasteless. the muscles were small and without much taste. The pasta with eggplant was served super hot with very little eggplant. The tomato sauce was plain. Staten Islanders with its Italian American population should be more discriminating. The strip steak was poorly prepared with too much fat. We do agree with the comment that the service was slow. The décor is unappealing. The ambiance without character. For being around since 1921 they haven’t learned much. Surprising they are still around. Yes, it is off the beaten path– so what.

Every time I’m here it’s been great. Fresh herbs and pastas and homemade desserts. Service is always great and the ambiance makes you feel like you are anywhere but Staten Island ! I always have a pasta special and they never disappoint ! Beet salad with goat cheese is dynamite ! A great gem on Staten Islands north shore with a lot of history !

Charming location and setting, friendly staff. I can confidently say that the pappardelle with goat cheese and tomato was the best pasta I’ve ever had. Go and enjoy!

I work in DC and live in MD but once lived in Staten Island and my elderly aunt/uncle still do. Had never been here and when pulling up, I wondered if I had made the right decision. The building, tucked into the end of a dead end street w gravel parking lot, didn’t showcase what we were about to experience. A delicious meal with an attentive owner stopping by tables(didn’t stop by us) and a fun intimate environment. I will definitely go back. I had 2 young kids(5&3) w me and it isn’t really a kid restaurant but all was good and if you’re up for a fun meal — go here.

My cousin recommended this place. At first I was a little reluctant because it was so close to his house I thought he was being lazy to go somewhere else but I was wrong. Everything we ate was delicious. The calamari was soft and not chewy the marinara was fresh and delicious. The baked clams were gone in a matter of seconds how good they were. I would really suggest to try zuppa di pesca which was very very tasty. The service was on point. The interior is clean, quiet and nice looking. I will be back when I come back to staten island.

Best Italian food I’ve ever had! Their simplest dishes are what sets them apart. Spaghetti with fresh mozzarella and spinach, mussels, beet salad, all top notch dishes.

After reading all the reviews I thought to myself — this is a hidden gem. The place is at great location, owners did great job, its clean and classy. The food, however did not impress any of us(had party of 4). Calamari appetizer was excellent. The Mozarella Corroza was not good. The bread at some parts was too chewy, the sauce for it was just blent. Duck was ok, the fig sauce was great. Pastas were nothing impressive. Puff pastry cake(similar to Napoleon cake) was good, but again nothing to rave about. The food tasted fresh though. The service was really good, I put 3 for food. The bill was about $ 40 per person, which is not in Price Level Category $$, I would say $$$.

THEPITS. The meals were served in oversized bowls, but the portions were teeny tiny. The food is NOT authentic Italian food. The sauces were thick and heavy and non appealing, and the prices are way TOO high. Our waitress tried to pass herself off as Italian, but she is really Turkish. All too phony for us! They charge just about what Bocelli’s charges and for poor quality food in a dumpy old restaurant, this was a never again experience.

It’s hard to choose a best part. The old inn feel is nice in a quiet neighborhood lays the foundation. The bread is light and crispy. The had mozzarella in carrazio(fried) which was well made so the oil didn’t overpower the taste. The veal is basically a must, although the fish soup is not a bad runner up. Top that off with chocolate mousse and a double espresso! The only complaint I had was the wait time. Being friends and you’ll get the best without the downside.

After being stuck in traffic for 2 hours we needed something ASAP! Right off the bridge and we headed to this place. Had not been here in a few years and was pleasantly surprised. It was after 8 and wasn’t sure what to expect. The staff was attentive, very pleasant and helpful when we asked about menu choices. Food arrived promptly. The homemade spinach and cheese ravioli were light and tasty. My husband had the fettuccine with a light cream sauce. That was also flavorful. House Cabernet was a good choice. Will definitely be back. A rustic, relaxing spot! Thank you to all there who helped us to «unwind»!

I’ve lived in SI for 23 years and I’ve never been here. Boy do I have a lot of time to make up for. We sat outside of the deck on a beautiful summer evening and couldn’t have asked for a more pleasurable experience. Started with the seafood salad, tender pieces of calamari and shrimps with fresh veggies grown on the premises. Gnocchi with fresh tomatoes was so light and tasty I was blown away other places the gnocchi are usually heavy and very gummy these were perfect. My wife had pasta with eggplant that was also delicious. Dessert was also delicious. I don’t know what it was called but we split a puff pastry filled with layers of cream definitely bug enough to share. We can’t wait to return which I’m sure will be very soon.

My boyfriend and I have both lived on the north shore of Staten Island our whole lives and have passed this block thousands of times. Basilio’s is tucked away at the end of the block resembling an old house. We recently discovered it and each experience has been amazing. As soon as you walk in the ambience is quaint and casual. The feelings of «regulars» and neighborhood friendly dining. Most importantly the menu, the ingredients, the taste and service are all authentic. They grow their own produce, which is why you will not find them open in the cold months of January and February as the entire restaurant closes. If their ingredients cannot be fresh then I guess they will not serve haha we literally saw the big metal bowl of freshly picked plump tomatoes on the bar counter ready to be cooked up! My boyfriend and I both times have split the gnocchi with tomato sauce dish for an appetizer, because we cannot resist home made pasta! Gnocchi typically filling, is nothing shot of delicious leaving you wanting more. It’s so tastey and simple. The freshness of the basil and tomatoes are evident !! I also recommend the salmon with lemon caper sauce and the pork osso bucco special. The meat falls off the bone animé was great. We can’t wait to go back and sit in the garden !
